Looking for authentic Akira Toriyama autograph/ sketch
It's hard to find one that is real....I am willing to pay any amount for one....if you guys know any that are 100% real please let me know....thanks
Re: Looking for authentic Akira Toriyama autograph/ sketch
If you head onto Yahoo Auctions, there's a few authentic ones in a sea of fakes. Just search for Toryiama's name (鳥山 明) and sort by price. You'll find a few real ones near the top with certificates of authenticity as well as some proof.
They're crazy expensive though. If you've never used Yahoo Auctions, I once wrote a guide for buying from foreign countries.

Honestly, I'm not comfortable commenting on authenticity just in case I turn out to be wrong. It does look very nice, however!

Just my two cents here, but for me, purchasing an autograph feels too impersonal and a little stale.
I think part of owning an autographed item is the experience attached to receiving the signature. Of course, in the case of a recluse like Toriyama, meeting him to get an autograph seems a near-impossible task - but essentially that just translates into a reprehensible excuse for people to exploit the fact and sell signed items for ludicrous sums of money.
Keep your money, man. This particular market is a minefield full of sharks and fraudsters.

I agree. Just buying the man's signature wouldn't mean nothing to me. but If I got to look him in the eye and he signed a personal item of mine, that'd be great.Blade wrote:Just my two cents here, but for me, purchasing an autograph feels too impersonal and a little stale.

I honestly don't see the appeal in getting famous peoples autographs. Unless they've made an impact on my life(Which Toriyama has) then I could care less. most celebrities I wouldn't walk down to the end of my road to meet them. I'd rather go on the podcast on Kanzenshuu and let VegettoEX and them make a few jokes about my accent LOL I'd be careful though buddy buying signatures, especially a signature from AT.

I was given a Black Swan posted signed by Darren Aronofsky. He's one of my favourite directors of all time and I value that very much. I didn't meet him, I probably never will but it holds a great deal of value to me because it's something he's personally had his hands on. Not to mention the sentimental value of a friend knowing me well enough and being kind enough to purchase something like that for me.
I do understand the line of thinking you guys are taking but I really don't agree with it. If I hold someone in high regard, I'd be honoured to own something they've had their hands on. In the case of Toriyama; it's a signed sketch! Holy shit dude, that's entirely different. It's a signed piece of artwork from the legendary creator of an internationally huge franchise! That's like telling someone not to buy the Mona Lisa because you never met da Vinci personally. An extreme example but c'mon now.

Re: Looking for authentic Akira Toriyama autograph/ sketch
That's actually a really good point^
I don't know though I'm weird on some things.
but your explanation of the Mona Lisa made me re-consider the importance of something like that. while I don't share the same passion of wanting to obtain a certain thing or autograph that whatever celeb has owned/has signed, I can understand why someone would want such a thing. obviously if somebody had a real Toriyama signature with proof of it and said ''Here take it.'' I wouldn't turn him down lol but I would try to sell it. But if Toriyama himself shook my hand and signed the card or what not then I'd keep it. I know that's insane but that's just the way I am on the subject. lol also was you serious RedHotFlip when you said ''you would pay any amount?'' I'm not trying to talk you out of buying something that means a-lot to you but I don't think AT would want you to maybe hurt yourself financially for his markings.
just be careful is all bud.

It's a rough, two minute character sketch, the equivalent to buying a da Vinci doodle - not his magnum opus. I think your analogy is somewhat inflated beyond terms fit for a fair comparison.AjayLikesGaming wrote:That's like telling someone not to buy the Mona Lisa because you never met da Vinci personally. Haha yeah, very inflated but you get my point. I'd find so much value in having anything drawn by Toriyama. It's an entirely unique piece of work that only you now own. To me, that's awesome!Blade wrote: It's a rough, two minute character sketch, the equivalent to buying a da Vinci doodle - not his magnum opus. Re: Looking for authentic Akira Toriyama autograph/ sketch
So does the stamp at the bottom right corner of the autographs found on yahoo auctions mean it has been authenticated? I've been looking around as well for one and I'm assuming if any ever pop up on ebay they are fakes because It seems sellers would use an Japanese auction site first. But again I'm a bit newb when it comes to yahoo auction all together.
Re: Looking for authentic Akira Toriyama autograph/ sketch
No. Never buy any autographs there. Never.FinalFlash17 wrote:So does the stamp at the bottom right corner of the autographs found on yahoo auctions mean it has been authenticated?

Definitely not his drawing... it's crazy how easy it would be to fake something like that.FinalFlash17 wrote:Came across this but seems too good to be true.
