The hype is real.

All I hope is that it takes place after BoG so we can have more character development after the events.

And by character development you mean "Saiyans and maybe one human"?

EDIT: Sorry if that sounded kinda snarky, but I'm still hyped anyway. Makes me wonder what they have planned for the 30th anniversary of the manga...

Well, it's probably gonna suck. But at least it'll probably bring some interesting discussion.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Still need to see Gods, hurry up and release in Straya.

Anyway I hope it doesn't take place in between Boo and end of Z, that's been done to death.

None of us are. Years ago I'd have been ecstatic... but my initial reaction this time was a "you've got to be kidding me" laugh. The fanboy in me says "Hell yeah!", but the webmaster is totally going, "NOOOO!!!!" I'm slowly coming around though. :wtf:

I didn't really like BoG either, but I can't wait to see how Toriyama trolls the fan base with the all the interviews related to this film.

Did you know Oolong became a porn star but was fired for always finishing prematurely? Did you know Vegeta creates Saibaman to do the house work for him (they explode before Bulma comes home and Vegeta takes credit for it)? Did you know Tenshinhan lost Chaozu at the circus and was unable to locate his Ki due to Chaozu's meek power level?

(Not actual quotes, but an estimation on what i think Toriyama will say).

As it stands, I'm hoping for some EOZ related material, specifically with Uub and Pan. Have them be Goku's students and help fight whatever threat that arrives with maybe, just MAYBE, a adult Gotenks.

Finally! For once I'm still interested in Dragon Ball when the announcement for something new and exciting is first coming out instead of jumping back on the wagon halfway through the hype. Kanzenshuu staff: I feel for you guys but I look forward to your coverage on it!

It's hard to be optimistic if you're part of the crowd that didn't care for Battle of Gods. Or Minus. Or all of the in-universe tidbits Toriyama keeps dishing out.

Feel the same. While its nice for new Amv material. BoG and the interviews aren't helping much. Makes me wish Db was kept untouched after GT ended. Not really fond of the shit we've gotten lately. Hated BoG. Hopefully this will be better.

No offense, but for some reason, I get more and more excited and convinced that this is going to be awesome through reading some people's antipathies toward BoG and Toriyama's recent contributions.

Another one? Guess they'll be making one every few years from now on.

I've not yet seen BoG but to be honest with the new animation, replaced voice actors/actresses and all I'm not really into it as many others are most likely here.

Oh, man. I feel it for the Kanzenshuu staff... God bless all of you for the next year or so...

Didn't expect the announcement so soon, but I'm excited this. Toriyama seems to have rediscovered his passion for the series in recent years <or maybe discovered a passion he never realised he had> and this is probably the best route for him to channel it. I enjoyed BOG a lot, not so much Minus, but not to the extent that it makes me not excited for any upcoming Toriyama-flavoured material.

Wow!! This news has made my day! I can only hope (and I expect it to be) a continuation on from Battle of Gods. How great is it that so long after the series ending we're getting all this new content? If we're lucky from here onwards we will be getting films every couple of years. For a while, anyway.

Can't contain my excitement. I really can't. I probably should though because I'm at work.

Bring it on!

EDIT: Reading the release where Toriyama says this is a story he intended to fit into the manga, I just hope this takes place after Battle of Gods, even if it's not connected to that film. Maybe they'll do this film then return in a couple of years for Battle of Gods 2?

Holy crap, that's unexpectedly soon! I was expecting a Spring 2016 release after the next One Piece film which I figured would drop late next year - but it looks like this has been a fast tracked project.

I'm incredibly happy about this, and particularly interested in the notion that this is a story that Toriyama wanted to originally include in the Manga. Marketing plot or not - it's definitely ramped my hype factor up to 11!
