I'm not particularly fond of the new movie following the events of BOG, but the 1st editor approving of the shit Toriyama has done so far inspires at least a little bit of hope. It's about time to give Vegeta SS3 (and SSG, I guess) and dwelve more into the "12 universes" idea.

And yes, it's silly to be skeptical just because of his recent comments and a short extra spin-off comic. Contradicting an established "canon"? What's the big deal? This is just a shonen series. It's not something like Fitzgerald saying that Gatsby was actually gay. He's the one who created the series we love. He wrote a wonderful story for BoG. We should just wait and see how things are going.

If it makes as much as BOG then i don't see why it will cause he seems to be having fun with the series and they're giving him enough time to make the stories on his own pace plus he doesn't have to draw anything like the manga

I have mixed thoughts about this. I had a lot of expectations let down since BOG and the new updates on what was made about #17 and #18 since I didn't really care for BoG, because of how bored I was from all the Filler-Humour I got from the useless plot-device mini-stories that had no relation to anything. I pretty much will not retain hype over my skepticism about how this movie will turn out. I mean BoG was cute for nostalgia but writting was horrible. If this is going to get followed up on I really want the sense of DBZ in this, not DBZ trying to be Dragonball: GT did it better. Toriyama should return to the story and emphasize less on the bad, dated comedy.

But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

While I do agree BoG should've been more action and less comedy, the comedy wasn't that bad.
Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)

OK, so Battle of Gods sequel! The question now is whether it's going to take place after Beerus wakes up from his 3 year nap and feature him and Whis again, or if it'll be unrelated and have new villain(s). Toriyama did mention designing at least one new character...

That's how I feel. I definitely didn't have an "Oh No" thought when Toriyama said he was doing the whole thing himself. Although I would rather have Toriyama then anyone else, I was still a bit skeptical until I heard the comment from his former editor.

The one night I go to bed early is the one night we get a late reveal of a new DBZ movie...good thing I did then, or I'd have been up to 4AM trying to talk to people about it, lol.

Despite having not seen Battle of Gods yet (waiting for either the theatrical release, or, if I am unable to get tickets, a DVD/Blu Ray release), I am excited about this. I've enjoyed Toriyama's recent work, like with Jaco, and can't wait to see what all Toriyama can do with a script that is all his. The fact that his former editor approved seems to be a good sign as well.

I hope this movie won't take as long to get here as Battle of Gods did (a late 2015/early 2016 release would be nice).

Felt dragging like Filler. As far as I care now Pilaf and etc are filler to me. They're so irrelevant, making them kids again wont mean a thing besides being absolutely pointless. Now GT made it a lot more natural. It was funnier seeing them old and crusty while meeting a post-Z Goku was hilarious because of the huge tier gap now. They didnt have a major role besides just reference, and their place as a plot device was at least connected to the plot itself someway. Them being Kids and Trunks passive-aggressively insisting Mai was his girlfriend was not funny. It had no context.

Why Akira Toriyama denied it be #18 and Krillins wedding day really disturbs me. Bulma's random and forgettably irrelevant birthday is more important? Than somethings fans would actually want to see? The humour and build up for it would have been funny in itself and connected rather than having them make up nonsense as they go on.
#18 finding a dress contrasting her personality, Chi chi and Bulma obessesing over what she should wear.
Krillin trying to be a gentleman ruined by Goku's eating and bad manners as best man.
Vegeta impatient for all the vows etc.
Beerus crashing it wanting all attention upon himself... etc..
Goku takes care of Beerus as the Best Man for Krillin...

A lot of potential wasted.

Why does Vegeta *have* to have Super Saiyan 3? Everything we've seen from it makes it apparent that it's a more supernatural form that's just not very practical for a living being. Sure, it's cool, but it just wouldn't make much sense.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Pilaf wants the Dragon Balls -> Trunks falls in love -> he invites Mai -> Mai shoots at Gohan -> Gohan hurts Videl accidentally -> Dende heals Videl -> we find out about Pan

Battle of Gods was far better than any other DB/Z film because it had an actual story, comedy, decent use of characters and so on. All the others were garbage in my eyes, except 12, 13 and Path to Power which were okay, but BoG is one of my favourite things in the franchise. I do think Battle of Gods could have used about 10-15 minutes more for the fight, and some actual weight to it, though. The scrapped scene with everyone else joining in to save Goku while he was unconscious sounds like it would have been great for that.

With that in mind, more of a focus on action while still being written by Toriyama sounds really good. Hopefully people won't have grounds to complain that it doesn't feel like Dragon Ball Z, but I can also be confident that it won't go entirely the other way and end up like the non-Toriyama movies, with five minutes to set the scene then a massive slug-fest.

I don't know how I'm going to get through the excitement of the next year. I'll probably do what I did with BoG and read every scrap of information I can find, so that by the time I can actually get my hands on a subbed version of the film I'll know the whole plot.

Not even a day later and people are calling this "Battle of Gods 2". Why am I not surprised. I am excited to see what this movie will be about. Hopefully more details soon.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

This made my day this morning!! I thought it would be only in 2016 :)

Haters start hating.
Fans get Hype.

Lets go! To the hype train! I'm loving seeing Toriyama motivated.

Toriyama-sama dont forget this time that Goten and Trunks are older too, okay?!

I REALLY hope that we get Goku in his blue dogi for this film.

I also REALLY doubt we will though since the orange is so iconic. :|

Because he deserves it and because I want him to? It is practical for a living being, otherwise Goku wouldn't have used it in BOG.

Probably it gets destroyed and he doesn't get a new identical one but decides to use the blue one then.
