So far the gameplay seems just like Battle of Z...just with better graphics and more combos.
Funny how they said Battle of Z sucked and they didn't think about it, but it still is. LOL

This won't be the same game as battle of z, if anything it may have some sort of similarity? However Dimps is clearly putting out a game that is somewhat more of a fighter than ArtDink's Battle of Z. I'm just happy we're getting something a little different especially with the new story for example. You guys can go back and play budokai 1-3 you can play tenkaichi 1-3 you can play raging blast 1-2. Let's give something different a shot and for those that don't want something different, there are all the suggested items.
Basically it is just too early for too much criticism at this point in time, i see effort being made for a different and new experience and i'm open minded towards that.

It does, the animations look equally as clunky.CM101Play wrote:Um...that doesn't look like BoZ...hulkty wrote:So far the gameplay seems just like Battle of Z...just with better graphics and more combos.

Its not really an opinion, more of a comparible observation. Animations look almost identical.CM101Play wrote:Well, you're entitled to your opinion, but I disagree.
2 and a half years on the story. Wow. Its not that hard to make up a DBZesc story. I'd be really disappointed if they pooled the wrong amount of time into meaningless aspects and put gameplay on the backburner. Especially if the Namco French reps say this themselves. Graphics are satisfactory, not amazing, not even next gen - gameplay looks, generic, story sounds overhyped for what it probably is. No open world. 2 - years. - 2 years for Spike would have made BT1 - BT3. I hope Dimps isnt getting lazy or cocky with it.DarkPrince_92 wrote:I'm just confused how the game has been in development for more than 2 years, and this is all they have to show for it. I guess most of the development went into the story, that we no nothing about. The gameplay looks far from finished. Characters can barely hit each other, sfx playing without anything happening, the camera in favor of Player 1 the whole time (it's not like Naruto because in Storm the second player get's to come to the foreground at times). That interview just raised skepticism with me.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still confident Dimps will deliver something better than ALL the last gen games we got. The visuals are still awesome, very faithful to the anime. A story we haven't played 1800 times. And a character creation system (allegedly). I'm not gonna knock this one down just yet.

I can clear this up - the production began 2 & 1/2 years ago. The development started only a few months back, this is why they say the game is in early stages of development.DarkPrince_92 wrote:I'm just confused how the game has been in development for more than 2 years, and this is all they have to show for it. I might be late in saying this but I think that the green energy wave Cell kept doing was supposed to be the move he used to destroy the army tanks, thats pretty cool. I wonder what other little things like that were added to characters' move set.
Also the way he shoots his Death Beams, its not like how Spike did it where they all come rushing at you at once, instead he was manually able to shoot when he wanted. Makes me think that if 4 man brawls are in this game can you shoot deaths beams and switch targets at the same time, like a gun range type of thing.

It's not too late. One day, it will be.

I enjoy talking with Treevax. He's a huge fan and a nice guy. I'm grateful for everything he does, along with everyone else involved...but I'm disappointed every year with (let's just use what was said in the actual video) how much everyone at these interviews gets "worried" that the games may have an altered story or that Goku won't be the focus of said story.DBZ_Lee wrote:Hi Everyone,

I don't really do much, my good buddy Treevax is the one you owe thanks
We've had Raditz to Cell/Buu in the games for over a decade now, and for much longer when you count the anime, the manga, and the rehashes that are Kai, the Full Color manga, etc. I love the story to death, but I know it by heart and I'm immediately bored every time I see it being rehashed in the games every year. I also know I'm not the only one when I look through these threads. Even without a lot of details on the game right now, it's easy to see that they're actually doing something right with Xenoverse. They're actually mixing things up.
Honestly, I would be more than thrilled if they stepped away from the traditional story completely and gave us completely new content that we don't have elsewhere, like a Battle of Gods or DBZ2015 narrative...but told through the game. The more creative they get with a new story and characters (especially if it's handled by Toriyama), the more excited some fans would be to pick up the game. I've skipped every game since Raging Blast 2, but I'd pick up something with a unique (well written) story like this even if the gameplay wasn't super amazing. I REALLY wish there was someone in the room that shared this point of view and would vocalize it more than a comment getting lost on a Facebook page...

I kinda wished Treevax reminded them of character creation; and wasnt so caught up in nudging his need to have a faithful storymode when it of all things isnt necessary anymore - at least I couldn't care less. Its weird without one yes but I'm so sick to death of it now. There will always be something in it they wont do right then it will be the complaint of next year. Its just a circle and I'm bored of it. I'm sure people memorized it by now. I'm all for making sure Goku at least stays the main character and isnt replaced with Red-hair Gohan; as I wouldnt want to be forced to play as him either but a faithful storymode? C'mon. Budokai 1 / BT2 / RB1 all did it faithfully enough.DBZ_Lee wrote:Hi Everyone, What did you guys think of our Interview this year?
He also has that flick away move he used on Mr. Satan as his pursuit ender which I found interesting. I hope Goku gets some unused movements for his attacks as well. He has the most boring moveset of all the characters in these games.goku the krump dancer wrote:I might be late in saying this but I think that the green energy wave Cell kept doing was supposed to be the move he used to destroy the army tanks, thats pretty cool. Color me extremely disappointed. The chances of this game being a great 3D fighter just went down a good amount, if they're spending development time on it being more than 1v1. This is NOT what Dimps is good at.CM101Play wrote:They confirmed that there would indeed be more than just 1v1, but they can't specify how far it'll go.
I'm actually okay with that. Yeah, I'd like to have an open world with all these new concepts to explore, but I also liked Infinite World's more linear story mode. And if they have a cool and fun all-new story to tell, by all means go right aheadCM101Play wrote:They confirmed that the story mode isn't an Open World like B3.
I don't see why people have any beef with this part. One can look at Budokai 3 and Infinite World's roster and call it robust. I'm more worried about the gameplay, at this point.CM101Play wrote:They confirmed that the game would have a "robust" roster.

What they did certainly evolved over the years, but they never had Bandai Namco breathing down their necks year in and year out to pump out whatever they had ready by the time they needed it to go gold.sintzu wrote:That doesn't mean they can't do itRukura wrote:This is NOT what Dimps is good at.![]()

I just don't see why people are worried about the 1v1 gameplay. They've shown us an Alpha version, which is basically giving us the concept and what it sort of looks like. It's not polished yet because it's in alpha. It isn't because that's how it's going to look, it's because that is how it has to look at this point to have it ready to show at things like E3 and Japan Expo. The gameplay looks nice so far, they've told us how it'll work, and demonstrated enough of it for us to see that they're not lying.
