DBZ Game Re-Releases

Post by Mr.Piccolo » Tue Sep 05, 2006 8:09 pm

There should be a re-release petition for the super famicom titles (like the butoden titles, RPGs, or even Hyper Dimension). I mean Nintendo is making a lot of money on remakes now for the DS and Advance titles, so why not? I figured the don't have much to lose, they can't get any lower after Taiketsu.

(Who am I to post a petition on my first post? ) :o

That would be awsome, but its probley not going to happen. Perhaps with Wii's virtual console you can download Super Famicom games. It wouldn't hurt to make a petition but I don't know if much would get done. I'd sign it though.

I was just about to say what Tanooki said. There's always a chance you could pick those titles up on the Wii, if they give access to Japanese games.

One reason why they probably won't do it is because the more serious fans would be the only ones to buy the games. Myself I would buy the games for sure, but compared to today's games, the Dragonball games are outmatched in all categories. The only game I believe would stand the concurrence, not involving any fandom, would be Hyper Dimension.

I think that they should be available for purchase off the Wii virtual console. If not in North America, at least in Japan. Or, its available to North America off a Japanese Nintendo Service.

If our prayers should come true, they would probably only release Hyper Dimension, or possibly (pushing it here), the Super Butoden games.

I remember there was a question about this in an early podcast. Yeah, it would be awesome to get a "The complete DBZ classic collection!" or something. The older games had lots of text tough. Your best bet would probably be the Wii's virtual download. I'm petty sure Japan will get some DB/DBZ games up for download tough I'm not sure about America and Europe. Or maybe you can download Japanese games on an Amercian or European Wii. Or maybe they will *Gasp!* translate the games.......... Okay maybe not but hey! I'm allowed to dream!

EDIT: There's always the NES game Dragon Power tough. That was translated to English and released in America.
Currently playing: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii), Jump Ultimate Stars (DS).
Currently obsessed with: Death Note, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Busou Renkin

I mean most people that have heard of these titles have either purchased the original title for super famicom (God knows how) or have gotten the roms. So basically, if people want to play it, why not provide it to them (Nintendo/Bandai would be making money from it and I'm sure they won't mind...)

I could see Atari/Bandai Namco doing something like Capcom does with their Mega Man/Street Fighter Collections...

They could give us all or some of the SNES/PS1 fighting games on one or two PS2 discs.

I can see it now: DragonBall Z Classic Collection!

Features:
1) DragonBall Z Super Butoden 1,2, & 3
2) DragonBall Z Hyper Dimension
3) DragonBall Z Legends (the only DBZ PS1 game not out in the US)

They'd probably sell some if they did this, I know I'd buy one. Maybe... Maybe? I can dream, can't I?

Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I REALLY hated the card RPG's. Hyper Dimension was cool in a Street Fighter kind of way. Boutoden 2 and 3 were great too. But I didn't like ANY of the PSX games, they were all terrible. I know a lot of people like Legends, but every character is the same.

AS IN BUDOKAI & SPARKING!??!!!.......*shocking revelation* Just kidding, those two games had enough content to keep it fresh. I haven't played Legends, but would love to. Infact, that & Hyper Dimension are the only two games I care about.

By PSX, I only meant the PSone games, lol.

The coolest thing about Legends is it literally has every character from ever saga. It's also very bizzare and original. I've never played a game like it, before or after. As I said before, the bad thing about it is all the characters are the same, except for different voices and animations. Also when you beat a character in a "round" (or whatever it's called), there's a brief movie that shows the victor doing that character's signature move. The game's decent looking but I wouldn't reccomend it.

Yup, Legends owned. I think Final Bout was really, really underrated. I mean it's bad, but imo it owns over a lot of fighters including some Mortal Kombats.
When it comes to fighters, I like the Street Fighters and of course Super Smash Bros. Melee. So if dragonball could release some more timeless titles like that, that there would be a lot less 'sub-par' titles.

Oh before I get Budokai 3 is really overrated. I said it.

Sparking! is definitely the most innovative of Dragon Ball Z games, but its lack of good controls & camera angles is what really held it back in my opinion at least.

Final Bout would have been better, if it had a story mode similar to how Super Butouden 2 did (come on, it was basically one of those games in 3D) and with better responses.

Online petitions never work. However, I've always loved the idea of a collection of old-school DB games. I just really love classic compilations in general.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Did they even ever confirm that you could download all 3rd party titles? I don't remember anything of that sort, so, you know, there is a chance you won't be able to download them, even in Japan.

But, then again, I'm usually wrong, so, whatever.

Anyways, they could easily put easily put anything PS1 and below on the DS, or atleast the PSP, and they could easily make a buck on it, someone will buy it.

It's not like we've not gotten re-release upon re-release of games before. Street Fight Alpha 3 has been on like, 7340382043284 and G systems.

They had to make G a number, thats how many times it's been re-released.

I would hope the DS and PSP could run anything from Phantasy Star I and below/back.

Off-topic but, why the X anyway? Wasn't "PSX" Sony's ill-fated first attempt at a PSP, only it wasn't portable, it was just a station console?

Yeah, kinda screwy that way.

PS1/PSI = Phantasy Star I, an RPG for the Sega Master System released in 1987.

PSX = PlayStation EXperimental, the code name for the Playstation during development. Granted, there were more Phantasy Stars (II-IV), but a lot of time had passed since PSII when the PS2 came out, so...yeah.

And yes, the PSX was a crappy attempt at a video recording device/PS2 hybrid, I believe.
