The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Vegeta's voice improved from Z to Kai but it's still done by Sabat he just no longer sounds like a raspy mess whose being forced to impersonate someone else, also Schemmel no longer sounds constipated.MasterVampire wrote:Is that a new english voice actor for vegeta?

Chris' Vegeta voice sounds great. If it's slightly different it's down to him improving as a voice actor.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Mm, I usually find myself cringing at Sabat's Vegeta. Less so in Kai, of course, but it was still quite laughably bad both in terms of voice and delivery many times throughout the show.
I actually love that it's even more different now. It's more refined, it sounds natural for the first time. It's no longer a totally unbelievable character voice. It seems he's gone the route of Horikawa who I've felt always managed to convey the sinister edge to the character without ever really delving too deep into the campy end of the spectrum.
Props to the guy, seriously. He's made such a vast improvement over the years and his understanding of the series is easily one of the primary reasons we have a dub of decent enough quality nowadays.
It's a real shame that so many fans, blinded by nostalgia, are giving him flak for making a genuine improvement. And I'm sorry, if you find that initial, constipated and caricature-level voice superior then I really do worry for you.
If someone could tell Schemmel that his Kaio should probably not still be a thing, that'd be great! Why on earth that was still a thing in Kai, I have no idea.

Some humans need to be smarter and remember we aren't in 90s anymore. Time doesn't stop and things change.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I still think his current impression of Vegeta sounds a bit whiny in this movie.
Its still worlds better than it was in the remastered sets where his voice was super low and gruff but I think maybe he could give Vegeta a bit more bass in it. Not rasp but pitched down slightly more.

Sean Schemmel has definetely improved incredibly. He literally sounds so controlled and his emotions seem to flow so well now from that Goku clip. He seems to have learned fast.
Monical Rial as Bulma too finally sounds natural and fitting, she sounds less grouchy and shrieky as she did in Kai thankfully.

If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

If I'm not mistaken, Manga UK usually just repackages FUNimation's DB releases, correct? So that means the U.S. should see a home release before or around the same time? December 10th isn't far at all, so that would be awesome.Avenged wrote:Not sure if this has been posted yet but Battle of Gods releasing in the UK.

Yeah, their fairy tail BD's were just a complete copy of the US release, (had all the US trailers and FUNi logo instead of Manga).Freeza Soldier #156 wrote:If I'm not mistaken, Manga UK usually just repackages FUNimation's DB releases, correct? So I guess NA will see this November time.
Edit,
They also released Wolf Children more or less the same time as the NA release too.
Double edit-
Theatrical RUN?!?!?!? Yes!!!! I expect Birmingham to get screwd over again. Sigh.

Where abouts in the Midlands do you live? As the last theatrical run Manga UK done (Wolf Children) the nearest one to me was Leicester. And they've just announced screenings for Ghost in Shell and no Birmingham. Again.SSJ3_Zack wrote:Wait Battle of Gods is going to have a UK theatrical release? Awesome! But whatever happens I'm gonna see BoG so please Manga make it easy on me and release it in B'ham lol
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Because a change in Kaiou's voice would be too jarring. People already complained about most of the newer voices, so imagine if they asked someone else to voice that character. They can fix some things like various pronunciations and a few names, but if they change too much then older fans will have more trouble accepting the newer dub.AjayLikesGaming wrote: If someone could tell Schemmel that his Kaio should probably not still be a thing, that'd be great! Anyhow, the voice is a bit too goofy but at least he's gotten better. His Goku and Nail are excellent though.

I live near Wolverhampton. So it's more than likely that I'd be travelling to see it Lol. I really hope it isn't only London that will have theatrical showings.
