Anyone got custom covers?

Anyone got custom covers?

Post by fps_anth » Tue Aug 22, 2006 12:58 am

In my opinion, the Funimation DBZ DVD covers blow....I was wondering if anyone had some cool, printable custom covers for these DVDs, or atleast full size R2 DVD covers (front and back). I think my collection would look a lot better with some sexy, custom covers.

If this doesn't belong here, please move it. (or if it doesnt belong at all, delete!)

Make a custom box case to hold your FUNimation dvds instead of making a custom cover for each and every single FUNimation dvd.

I might try and do something for the collection releases for next year. I'm also trying to think of cover-sets for each movie collection (1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-13, etc), but I'm not sure. I used to do custom covers for each DBZ DVD, and they were alright, but it was such a huge job so I didn't bother anymore.

But here's hoping!

You could probably find the Japanese covers somewhere, and those are usually pretty good, but custom ones would probably be cooler to show off.

I've made one for my site... And I got three submissions also... So, I've got custom covers of the Trunks Special, the Bardock Special, movie 12 and movie 13.

But they aren't that pretty, though. ~~;

^^ Man those are great! Personally though I treat my DVD's with respect the box art may blow but I wouldn't dare taking it off.

They're basically unedited screenshots which kinda hark back to the ol' TV series on DVD release.

What I was considering doing, at one point (before I got lazy) was to try and make a uniform Shonen Jump series of covers for the various animated, uncut (and to be completed) Shonen Jump series. Never got around to it though.

Custom Covers

Post by klokwerk » Thu Aug 24, 2006 7:32 am

I've been saving the Jumpland Dragonball Z screensaver every time they released a new batch of DVDs, only to realise that it must load the images via the net.

However, for the two latest batches of DVDs I've managed to take screenshots of the cover art. For each piece I used several screen captures to extract the art from the background and proceeded to clean them up a little in Photoshop.

I plan on using them in some 'custom cover' capacity but I've yet to have the free time needed to work on them. In any case, for those of you who like the art on the Japanese R2 singles, I suggest taking some screencaps and making some space-saver custom covers for yourselves. :)

If anybody has screencaps of the art (from the screensavers) for any of the first 27 DVDs, please send me a PM.

Dragonbox Covers

Post by simmdogg113 » Mon Sep 11, 2006 11:29 am

I've got some Dragonbox Z Covers. They all combine to make a great picture on the spine and they are preformatted to be printed out and used as is.

Here are Box Set Covers

Each set makes a picture in the spine as well.

This is all very cool and nicely done although I have the feeling that there are to few covers.
Only 4 for the entire Dragon Ball show?
And ashame the tekst is in French, also all of the first Dragon Ball Z covers seem to have volume 1 on them.
But anyway better than I could ever do it.

Quoting one is plagiarism.
Quoting many is research.

Personally, I would use the new individual japanese dvd covers. They just look better.

MAN, THOSE LOOK AMAZING!

And now, I say goodbye to my ink. :)

Just wondering, how would I use these covers for my Funimation DVD's? There's obviouisly too little covers posted above. I think I would just change the spine image, and use the same box art 3 or four times for my DVD's.

Yea there are some good ones out there:

www.animecoversfan.com

^ Check out that site for some very pimptastic covers, most are in Italian but if you are halfway decent with photoshop you could edit them yourselves.
Come on inside....the Kame House.

Yep, that's where i got a lot of mine at. I ended using the first Dragonbox Z covers vs the other one from AnimeCoversFan. I haven't tried printing out the Box Covers yet, I let you know how it goes once I do.
