Blue Bricks (U.S.) v Banana Bricks (UK/AU).
Hiya guys. Hope everyone is well.
Basically, I want to know which release is better? Also, For the price of one Banana Brick I can get two Blu-brick so I'm wondering if it's actually worth investing in the Banana bricks. A screenshot comparison would be nice.
Thanks!

The banana bricks have grain, Japanese title cards and not as zoomed in. The blu bricks arnt bad though.
For me, it's the Japanese title cards that make we want to have the Banana bricks (wait till the price goes down)

The "Banana bricks" are the old saga sets, right?

Basically, they have slight ghosting in some fast moment scenes or pans that might be noticeable from the PAL conversionAdamant wrote:The "Banana bricks" are the old saga sets, right?

No, the "banana bricks" are the brand new season sets for the UK and Australia. Basically, it's their equivalent of the blue bricks.Adamant wrote:The "Banana bricks" are the old saga sets, right?
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

I thought he meant in terms of quality/title cards/ect. But yes, there are packed like the blue bricks and sold in seasons

Banana Bricks
Pros
+ Japanase episode title cards
+ Grain
+ Unzoomed (as much as FUNimation's footage would show up)
Cons
- 8 to 9 episodes per disc (this is bad because if you pause sometimes you'll notice the compression which affects the episodes' picture quality)
- Episode 57 has English title card only
- Episode 73 only has dubtitles for the Japanese audio track
- Episode 81 through its second part skips to Episode 83 on the Japanese side because whoever was in charge of authoring the disc messed up big time
I'd say if you don't care about watching it in the original audio then you'll have zero problems with the Banana Bricks / Saga Sets as you can see it only affects the Japanese side.
I think I have some screenshots of the Saga Sets on my ImageShack still (unless they deleted)...

Curse of the Blood Rubies is English dub only.

Yeah. Manga UK uses the artwork of the Blue Bricks for the UK Saga Sets.Adamant wrote:The "Banana bricks" are the old saga sets, right?

I don't think the season sets actually came out in Australia. Pretty sure they're UK only.Gaffer Tape wrote:No, the "banana bricks" are the brand new season sets for the UK and Australia. This is what they have instead (along with New Zealand):
Heh, "Banana Bricks" for more reasons than one...

I meant in terms of content. Do they have brand new content, or are they just the saga set discs put in brand new packaging?
EDIT:
And I just saw that got answered here. Thanks.

Re: Blue Bricks(U.S) v Banana Bricks(UK/AU).
It's false advertisement to be selling these in UK as "Season" sets because the actual discs show up as the Saga Sets. It's exactly the same thing as they were released in Australia (over there they called them Collection Part 1 & 2).
Here's what the Collection Part fat-packs look like:

These are my ones (in a GT box) and it's pretty cool that the entire series fits in one box so it doesn't really take much space.

Re: Blue Bricks(U.S) v Banana Bricks(UK/AU).
Yeah I'm only going to watch dubbed.
Does anyone have similar screenshots that dbboxkaifan posted from the Blue-bricks? I want to see how zoomed in they are. If the blue-bricks aren't that bad, then I'll go with them since they're more cost effective.

I'd say you'd be fine with the Blue Bricks if you're just going to watch it in English and prefer grainless picture.ionutbigiu wrote:Blue Bricks

Thank for those dbboxkaifan
I guess I'll settle for the blue-bricks as there isn't really much difference.

You have to switch to English for the scene change. I hope to God that Manga UK have fixed that for the banana bricks.

Fingers crossed they do but it looks like everything's been kept exactly the same as the R4 release so...Fizzer wrote:You have to switch to English for the scene change. I hope to God that Manga UK have fixed that for the banana bricks.
Even the guys from UKAnimeNetwork don't know much about Dragon Ball or this release so regardless of them getting it early they won't show if they've fixed it or not. Like, they did the unboxing for "season" two but didn't bother to show us the title card for Episode 57 (which would be in English only, I doubt Manga UK of all companies would make the effort of getting the Japanese title card in there).

The difference in footage quality and zooming looks rather significant to me. Of course, I wouldn't buy either version over a Dragon Box release.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Thank for those dbboxkaifan![]()

Do the Banana Bricks include all the different opening and ending animations?

In terms of an English Dragon Box release there really isn't one, and alternatively the Saga Sets are the best currently.ParkerAL wrote:The difference in footage quality and zooming looks rather significant to me. Of course, I wouldn't buy either version over a Dragon Box release.

No, it includes 1x OP (v1) and 1x ED (v2) just like the later remastered Blue Bricks do.

I really can't see a difference in footage. And if cropping doesn't bother me then zooming probably won't either.ParkerAL wrote:The difference in footage quality and zooming looks rather significant to me.
