The colors look identical to the Japanese broadcast. :/

Eh? There's no green cast though. They're not the same compared the TV raws that I have. They just look like the colour corrected version a certain fansub group has been putting out.

The biggest example is at 0:13 in the video you linked. That kid's hair was lime green in the Japanese broadcast. It's actually blonde now.

It might not be as bad as the Japanese broadcast, but the skin tones and sky still look very green to me.

The announcer's hair is very green, and so is Trunks' skin. I'd like to see some comparisons though, if you or anyone else doesn't mind.

I see what you mean with the Announcer's hair...but not so much Trunks' skin...

There's either a red shift to my monitor or a green shift to yours because they're both blonde on my end.

I wish I was at home to post a comparison from my raws. Damn. I don't know which one of us is right here!

EDIT: They're the same in this screenshot that I had lying around so you may well be right. The issue is, I don't remember if I took that shot from the colour corrected fansub version or the original raw! The lack of clock makes me think the former since the first raw I always grab is from FujiTV.

Probably you. :P

It just feels to me like it should look more like this:

[EDIT] Just saw the edit.

Your shot looks maybe a little greener on Goku's skin.

Yeah, it's definitely me. Fucking Macbooks, man.

That shot looks a bit too red on my end but definitely closer to what it should look like so yeah, you're right. Damn. Prepare for green tint Blu-rays, I guess.

Why? Did you check the raw?

Nah, I can just tell by looking at your colour corrected version vs. that stream shot. The tint is clear as day.

I see.

Anyway, for the sake of comparing widescreen footage, here's the Orange Brick shots for comparison. Aside from the contrast being too high, I like the color tones much more:

Then again, I think Buu Kai has too low of contrast compared to the Dragon Boxes and pre-Buu Kai.

Also, the green tint's weird, and I don't think it affects every episode. One of the earlier episodes definitely didn't look green:

It's definitely from the original raw, because the fansub in question always erases the channel logo.

Yup, totally forgot about that.

Well, there you go. Colours confirmed to be the same across the countries.

Bye Kai, it's been nice knowing ya, but i'm no longer interested.

The only interesting thing left about Buu Kai is the new english dub, and even then the original Z dub was the least bad of all the other seasons, so meh.

Most of the filler is kept too, so remove that point in favor of Kai...

Damn, i just realized... what's even the point of this new iteration of Kai? It offers nothing new and is just an excuse to sell the same thing over again.

Most filler is kept.
The remastering is terrible (artifacts, artifacts everywhere)
The colors are screwed up (still not as bad as the broadcast, but still...)
Akward pacing
Bad editing
Soundtrack is badly placed.
Yamamoto scandal

God, Toei... just let Dragon Ball die. At this point, it's clear you're just a money whore and don't respect the franchise.

Remember me to never trust Toei with anything.
Can't wait until they do One Piece Kai and fuck that up as well.

Pretty sure these only apply to the Japanese broadcast.

Nice. We actually see clothing detail on Toei's Majin Boo Kai whereas FUNimation blackened the hell out of it.

The NEP looped on the International Version sounds pretty annoying as is.. *sigh* I wish they'd swap that for the Japanese NEP BGM.

Hmm, I actually like it better, though both of them could use better arrangements, like the NEPs for the first two ending themes. What would the point of swapping it out be, though? Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go doesn't exist in The Final Chapters.

It wouldn't need to exist because it'd play as a BGM as not repeat in a loop which in the International Version it does, that one at least had more variety and more likeability to it. *sigh* I'm gonna hate the International Version of the NEPs BGM. :|

It's only 30 seconds. No biggie. :D

I get the feeling that would be a lot of trouble without any real point, though. It'd be like throwing a Faulconer track into Japanese Kai. (Although, if the Piccolo clip is any indication, I guess I'm not far off).

In regards to the episode count for the original version, at first, I wasn't convinced, but the more I see, the more I begin to understand. The pacing is consistent, and steady.

What you'd get if you removed everything possible is what we're seeing with the Japanese Version - no breathing space at all between scenes, weird editing (going from Gohan to the Tournament grounds here): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ceeyXX9rjM#t=334, characters sentences being cut off prematurely before they've had chance to finish properly: this is an example of Goku screaming Gohan here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ceeyXX9rjM#t=203, awful music placement & how can I forget the terrible Saiyaman episodes at the start?.

Whilst I do accept that 69 Episodes is a little bloated to cover 99 chapters, I also believe that could be down to a lot of the fight content being retained, that unfortunately, due to restrictions dictated by Fuji TV, won't make it into the Japanese Broadcast.

Toei have actually worked hard on this Saga, and thought about it - they realized that it's popular in the West, and wanted to make an effort. Some of the filler has clearly been retained so they can add new opening & ending animation where it makes sense to do so.

I believe our opening will change at various times throughout the Series - something that Japan won't have because they started off with what will surely be something close to our finished version.
The only thing I wouldn't like is if they kept that awful inside Buu filler stuff, and Mr. Satan losing his trousers in front of the press, that stuff has to go, I don't care lol.

But, for me, without a doubt, "The Final Chapters" will be very enjoyable and for the most part cover at least a chapter and a half per episode.

Emphasis on "worked hard".
They could've at least bothered to remove artifacts, color correct the episodes and make both 4:3 and 16:9 versions.
