With the release of the 2nd and 3rd volumes, has the amount of censorship stayed the same? Is it still just Popo's lips and some dialog being censored? Has all of the violence and blood stayed in tact?

As far as anyone can tell, only Mister Popo's lips have been censored. The other artwork is unedited (if you choose not to count the transition from black-and-white to full-color). The translation is the same as it's always been. And of course, the full-color release doesn't include the chapter title pages.

I hesitantly say that it's the best release of this material from Viz thus far.

I will get the 3th volume next week :D
I'm supporting this release because its just that great. I never bought any manga because I can read everyting on internet, but this collection really deserves my money.
Litlle censorship and Awesome Quality. Never thought Viz's verison would be so big and the colors really make the difference. i can enjoy the artwork at its fullest.

I really doubt they wont release the rest. Like every other company they love money and now with Battle of Gods coming to USA they have the fans hype on their side.
Just keep asking for it in their page.

I have a little bit of news:

Viz is holding an AMA on the One Piece subreddit, and allows questions regarding any manga. I asked about the rest of Dragon Ball: Full Color and One Piece: Full Color. They answered back that they're evaluating both.

This could very well mean they're going to release Freeza-Boo arcs too. How I'd love it! *drool*

Book Depository has my order on Processing but it should be shortly dispatched, oh well, I'm in no hurry because once I start reading them I just can't stop because it's that awesome!

So I'm thinking about picking up Viz's volumes 1,2,3. Do the japan ones just pick up after at the end of book 3 then?

Yeah, the chapters are the same. Pick up Freeza volume 1 and you'll get the very next chapter.

So I finished reading Vol. 3 today and I had thought Viz wasn't going to use Popo's pink lips but on this volume they did.. Sort of.
Maybe it could be said that Mr. Popo during these times has his mouth opened but then again whenever he did on Vol. 2 this should've been there too.

I'm very pleased with vol. 3 and hope to get the remaining 17 books of the Full Colour release in English. Please Viz! :D

Exactly. Whenever Mr Popo's mouth's open, they just remove the lips. If it's closed, they remove the lips and turn the "black lip line" white (otherwise he'd just have nothing).

Still don't know what Viz's problem with this is. Even though it wasn't handled that badly, it still makes me cringe everytime I look at it. I get that it looks like blackface, but still. Mr. Popo is not black. Just look at the pointy ears, for God's sake. OK, some people might be offended, but someone's always bound to get offended by something. If we always thought about people that might get offended by something, nobody would ever do anything. I'm mixed race myself and half of my entire family is black. I even asked them directly if they thought the thick lips were racist. Their answer: "black people do have thicker lips, why would that be racist?". Hell, I've got thick lips myself!

Viz needs to realize they're defacing (although very slightly) a classic manga series. And even if it wasn't a classic right now, it might turn into one in a few years' time. If it's just blatantly and unexcusably offensive, don't publish it. If it's not that offensive (if at all, like it's the case here), then publish it as it's supposed to - unchanged.

Viz also needs to realize not all of their customers are American (where some people can be really touchy). A lot of people get their manga because there isn't a translation in their home language/country. They should at least make an international uncensored version. It would probably outsell the domestic edited version many times over, even domestically. As far as I know, the US are the only single country where some people have issues with Mr. Popo. Here in Portugal, we have a very large african community and nobody gives a damn. Even classic European comics series like Asterix and Tintin made use of what would be considered blackface in the US (with lips double the thickness of Mr Popo's) and you don't hear people make so much as a passing comment regarding it.

Still, credit where credit is due. Viz's been getting a lot better lately and has even been allowing some more touchy stuff like "hell", "damn", "ass", and even the middle finger in some of their series. I'm just sad to look at this gorgeous edition, where even the sound effects are preserved, and just be one pair of lips away from total uncersorship.

Call me an idiot, but with these books you read the panels from Right to Left don't you? or is it only Page Right to Left, and the boxes go from Left to Right?

You read the panels right to left.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

Right to Left.

Here's a mini tutorial for those who may not know who to read a manga from right to left:

This helped me out figuring out how to properly enjoy reading a manga.
