"Hyper Dimension" Release Questions
Hey guys! Did they ever release Hyper Dimensions on disc or even in the US? lol I played it on the computer a long time ago in school and loved it! but I don't own a super famicon and I'd love to get to actually own this game not some emulator version. any help?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Re: dragonball z hyper dimensions question
Super Famicom was exclusively a cartridge-based system (insert mostly-unrelated story here about potential Sony PlayStation add-on).
It was never released in English or in North America in any fashion.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh man. Do you know how much a super famicon would run me bud? if they was affordable I may get one just to play this baby. lol It'd look nice I guess in my collection of my older gaming stuff
Edit - Also I knew it didn't play discs but I was just hoping a disc version may have gotten released. I just looked it up and it's going to run me if I get one about 80 some bucks. I may just buy a retro duo because I read they will play Japanese games.

It's a good game, but be sure you know what you're doing: the story mode can be tough if you're not a skilled fighter in this game!samuraix123 wrote:if they was affordable I may get one just to play this baby.
Meanwhile, if they were available, I would buy those in a heartbeat:
- Super Budoden HD
- Super Butoden 2 HD
- Super Butoden 3 HD
- Hyper Dimension HD
With all HD sprites for characters and backgrounds drawn by Toriyama or Toei, of course!
We don't need anything more, just replace the sprites to make the visuals good (by nowadays standards), upgrade the music and vocals to make the audio good (by nowadays standards), and throw it on the store as-is! Minimal cost, maximum amount of money from fans in their pockets!
(the music would likely be completely replaced though instead of upgraded, since it was composed by Yamamoto...)

But it was released in the PAL region thankfully.VegettoEX wrote:It was never released in English or in North America in any fashion.

The French back in the 90's were the first outside Japan to get Dragon Ball games and then some other lucky/random countries would receive it too (European countries, that is). To this day they still receive special treatment with those cool Japan Expo conventions for new Dragon Ball and other Bandai Namco games.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
Re: "Hyper Dimension" Release Questions
With Hyper Dimension, they emphasized Vegetto's presence a lot (which they wrote "Bejito" in this game, even though they wrote "Vegeta" on the other hand...)
He's on the cover, he appears on two of the four pictures, and the text itself insists that his presence is one of the selling points of the game.
And the stage-to-stage transitions were a big deal!
For the curious ones, this is what the promo text says on the back of the box shown by dbboxkaifan (and it has quite a weird way to say things sometimes):
BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL WORK,
HERE COME THE THREE-DIMENSIONAL BATTLES.
THIS IS HOW THE LEGEND OF NEW FIGHTS
IN DRABON BALL Z GOES ON. IN THIS GAME
MARKING BEJITO's FIRST APPEARANCE, FIGHTS
ARE EVEN MORE INTENSE.
THE BATTLEFIELD SCROLLS UP, DOWN,
RIGHT, LEFT.
CRUSH YOUR ENEMIES TO THE GROUND, THEN SEND THEM AWAY ON
THE SIDE. THAT'S WHAT THE HYPER DIMENSION IS ABOUT.
I think "Better than the original work" / "Surpassing the original work" was rather meant to say either "better than the previous games" (the Super Butoden series) or "being the best game rendition of the original work".
And the whole last part of the text about the battlefield scrolling and what you can do with your enemies was a clumsy way to say your can transition to other stages with totally different backgrounds. It's not just scrolling (which is pretty normal in fighting games), it's supposed to be about stage transitions.

Re: "Hyper Dimension" Release Questions
The game came out before the US dubbed DBZ, so it never got a US release. You may want to try to buy a modded SNES in order to play it.

If you do go for the French version, bear in mind the story mode was removed.

Get the Japanese version, runs on eBay for like $25. TOTALLY WORTH IT, my favourite Tose DB Game, It's SO GOOD, But Goku is broken.
Re: "Hyper Dimension" Release Questions
Meh, it's a licensed fighting game. Balancing probably wasn't the highest priority during development, and I doubt the TOSE staff would have imagined people would still be talking about this game 18 years after its releasemcdonough88 wrote:Get the Japanese version, runs on eBay for like $25. A friend said Goku was probably the MOST BROKEN character in fighting game history haha. He shows disgust whenever I mention DBZHD hahaWeejus wrote:Meh, it's a licensed fighting game. Re: "Hyper Dimension" Release Questions
I remember playing english version on PC emulator as a kid. Wonder if it was a cartridge rip or translated mod.
Wonder where was the english version released if it really was?

Re: "Hyper Dimension" Release Questions
There was no English version. You were playing a translated ROM. That said, it's not like there's much to be translated as it isn't a particularly text heavy game.MCDaveG wrote:I remember playing english version on PC emulator as a kid. Wonder if it was a cartridge rip or translated mod.

The story was translated from what I remember, so nice work. Lot of roms were halfway done usually.Weejus wrote:There was no English version. You were playing a translated ROM. Re: "Hyper Dimension" Release Questions
This is still one of my favorite DBZ games. I snagged a copy on eBay and just play it in one of those emulator consoles that plays SNES and Genesis games.
