I'm torn on this one. On one hand, I'd like the yearly Dragon Ball fighting games to be good again, but on the other, failure means BN might be willing to let CyberConnect2 take a shot at it.

For me Cyber Connect 2, not listen to people hearings, they add people on who they like.Lance Freeman wrote:I'm torn on this one. On one hand, I'd like the yearly Dragon Ball fighting games to be good again, but on the other, failure means BN might be willing to let CyberConnect2 take a shot at it.

CC2 has a history of leaving things as is and adding random new things. I don't know who here is following the Storm series development, but the recent screenshots with Team Hebi (when they were still Hebi), have the EXACT same moveset since Storm 2. I kinda hate that they ignore old things and make them take up space and think it's fine as long as there's some new stuff in there.

To me this is looking like the best Dragon Ball Z game in years. I live in Australia and write for a gaming website (Capsule Computers) and will be heading down to EB Games expo this year for the first time. If Xenoverse is indeed playable (which does look likely but I'm still skeptical as it hasn't been playable anywhere else and EB expo is a lot more low key than say E3 or TGS) I will be giving a full impressions preview piece and will let you know my experience.
That would be awesome. Welcome to the forums!

Screw that, i want a competitive, EVO level DBZ fightning game.Lance Freeman wrote:I'm torn on this one. On one hand, I'd like the yearly Dragon Ball fighting games to be good again, but on the other, failure means BN might be willing to let CyberConnect2 take a shot at it.
CC2 would just make it dumbed down to every level, with 1 button combos etc.
I don't really give a crap about Story Mode, i know CC2 would make a kickass story mode, but once you finish the Story, the game is pointless if the gameplay is crappy.
Just take a look at the Ninja Storm games. After a few months, nobody cares about them and just waits for the new one.
Instead successfully competitive games last decades, like Street Fighter II which is still played and analyzed to this day. Or just look at Injustice if you want something more recent.
Plus it would be kickass to finally see DBZ characters in tournaments.

Just reskin Injustice with DBZ characters and that's our game right there for the most part. Just rework the "wager clash" system to more of a beam clash type of deal and find a way to put the "punching clash" or "Burst Mode" as they called it in Budokai 1 in there as well and we're all set.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Sorry guys I'm gonna have to dissagree. The reason why I love anime fighting games (besides the characters) is their simplicity over the hardcore fighters. I dont have to sit there for hours learning combos, difficult to pull off special attacks and frame counts. For me Raging Blast 2 had the perfect level of difficulty to master and competitive play, I'd be very happy if this game followed suit. I was pretty good at Raging Blast 2. I wouldnt be able to beat the super competitive top of the leaderboard guys, but my win rate would probably sit around 70%.

I'd kind of have to agree with nato25 to a degree - I don't really want a DBZ game that's as "in depth" or "competitive" as Street Fighter. That's part of why I don't enjoy Super DBZ as much as a lot do. I'll admit it right up front - I'm not THAT good a fighter. Something like Tekken, sure, I can mostly operate in that capacity, but Street Fighter is far beyond me...it's all I can really do to do E. Honda's thousand-slap-maneuver. I don't think I've ever even pulled off a Hadoken in Alpha 3 (the only SF game I have) for god's sake. So...yeah. I'd want my ideal DBZ game to at least be a little simpler in comparison than that.

I'm expecting a B3 and BT3 mix in this game, to possibly please both hardcore fighting fans, like myself, and casuals, also like myself. The only thing I really AM worried about, is story mode. I enjoy what they are doing with the hero traveling back in time and all, but I wonder to what extent can he change things. Could this character make a Vegeta hero scenario? Maybe a SS3 Vegeta or Trunks possible? I'm hopeful.

To add to that:

It's nice to see some of the concepts from DB Online live on in some capacity. The created characters look like they actually have, well, character this time around.
This game looks amazing. Between this and the new movie, 2015 is gonna be a great year, DB-wise.

Once you create your characters, you’ll be summon by Trunks to complete a series of challenges to begin your path in this Dragon Ball adventure starting in the hub area, Toki Toki City.

So it finally happened.
DIMPS just doesn't disappoint. First Heroes and now this, a game with DB Online cameos/references and custom character mechanics (Female Buu looks identical).

Just noticed that they're saying it's the first time ever that there has been a character creator. Do you think they're purposefully ignoring Ultimate Tenkaichi/Blast and admitting it as a write off or do you think they just forgot?
Re: "Dragon Ball XENOVERSE" (PS4/XB1/PS3/360) Official Threa
To be honest, Ultimate Tenkaichi's was more of a Saiyan Customizer than Character Creator.

This seemed to have been glanced over thus far. The mysterious clock location has a name now too, so I guess that's kinda cool...but the name could have been better. lolOnce you create your characters, you’ll be summon by Trunks to complete a series of challenges to begin your path in this Dragon Ball adventure starting in the hub area, Toki Toki City.
But yes, it's nice to see some accurate costumes, returning characters and more revived DBO elements. Hopefully this games is amazing in terms of story and content, and at least isn't bad in terms of gameplay.

Oh man, the feels!!
All that DBO stuff...damn I can't wait.

YEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS AMAZING!!! The similarities between this and Dragon Ball Online becoming apparent to anyone else now ? We have time patrol trunks and now custom character creation with humans, majins and namekians. Good to see that content is getting some use outside of Korea lol

I am so excited! I knew the future warrior looked too generic, this is the best possible result.
