Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
I'm going to wait and see what will be in the Funimation release before I rebuy Battle of Gods. I wonder if they'll be translating the booklet that came with the limited edition Blu-Ray set that came out in Japan?

Amazon links are up
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods - Blu-ray
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods - Blu-ray Collector's Edition
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods - DVD
Shame AoL take the money up top otherwise I'd order from them, these prices are ridiculous.

So the standard DVD has two discs, the standard BD has one and the collector's edition BD has two. That's sort of odd.

Here's how I see it.
DVDs- Both the extended cut and theatrical cut on separate discs.
Blu-ray- Both the extended and theatrical on one BD disc.
Collectors- Both the extended and theatrical on one BD disc. Special Feature's on separate BD/DVD disc.

£25? I'd rather just download it. I'm sure the price will come down though because nobody will pay that much for it.

You think that's expensive? For a big movie on Blu-ray? This just reeks of download-culture entitlement to me. That's hardly an expensive price to pay. If "nobody" would pay "that much" for it, it wouldn't be set at that price.Bullza wrote:£25? I'd rather just download it. That's.... the standard price for home video releases, dude.Bullza wrote:£25? I'd rather just download it. I'm sure the price will come down though because nobody will pay that much for it.
That's a perfectly reasonable price for a recent theatrical full-length movie, and a brand new release on home video to boot. Personally, I'd be more upset about spending $10+ on a movie theater ticket, if you're gonna go down that road.
Also, look around online. Web retailers won't be selling it for full MSRP anyway.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Pre-ordered the Collecters Edition for £28.08,
shame Amazon didn't offer me any release day deliveries, but what can you do. Hopefully it'll drop by £5 between now and then and that would be perfect.

Awesomeness! Now I'm just waiting on Funi to give their release date and I'll be ordering mine on Amazon.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

It IS expensive and it's NOT a big movie in the slightest. You think that's expensive? For a big movie on Blu-ray?
Amazing Spider-man 2 is a big movie and that's £13. Godzilla is £13, X-men is £15, Captain America is £15. People won't pay £25 for it.
No it isn't.That's.... the standard price for home video releases, dude.

Meanwhile, in Japan...
Also you know, claiming that it isn't a big movie... Doesn't that sort of explain why the price is higher? It's not going to sell as well as a Marvel superhero movie, so it kinda has to be more expensive so as to even make money at all.

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
It'll drop in price, there's zero chance of it still being £25 by the time of it's release because nobody would pay that much. It happens all the time with many different things. For example the PS4 game The Division is on there right now at £55 but by the time it's actually about to come out it'll be like £45 like all the others.
Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
MangaUK have the boxart up on their site, it's the same as Japan.
DVD, Bluray, Collectors Edition Bluray. The price is cheaper here than on Amazon too for the time being.

Sweet. I guess I'll be pre-ordering the collectors edition
.
It warms my heart to have finally had all of Z, then GT and then DB and now this movie getting a home release in the UK, in addition to a collectors edition and of course the theatrical release after so many years of being ignored and only getting the Big Green movies back in the day. Manga UK I salute you

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
How much is 28 pounds in dollars? I'm guessing that this, along with other media, is simply more expensive in R2 zones. I'll grab the R1 release sometime after it comes out. I'll probably be done with GT by that point.
Also, I have a pretty strict code with downloads. I only watch stuff online if it hasn't had a proper release (like a 4Kids dub and the anime it's based on) but with stuff that Funimation puts out, I will definitely pay out of my pocket for it.

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
£20.00 is steep for a DVD, but if that's the collectors edition that makes a lot more sense. I'll be getting it either way because I want them to have my money!
Also the option of just downloading it has been available to me for like a year, I want the DVD darnit!

Just under $50.Valerius Dover wrote:How much is 28 pounds in dollars?
Cool, but does anyone know if Manga take payment upfront? Since there is no login page and straight to PayPal checkout. Would like to pre-order both in caseSolidus wrote:MangaUK have the boxart up on their site, it's the same as Japan.

That's a more reasonable price for the standard Blu Ray version. Still wouldn't pay over £15 for it though.
It says the Collectors Edition has
"an additional DVD disc containing bonus extra featurettes: . “The Voices of Dragon Ball Z: Unveiled” and “Behind The Scenes: Battle of Voice Actors!”. Packaged along with 4 collectable art cards and a limited edition o-card. Contains English and Japanese audio and English subtitles."
Which I couldn't care less about so I'll get the standard version.
It's $47.How much is 28 pounds in dollars?

Yeah, that is a pretty hefty price for a movie. That's another reason I don't buy R2 DVDs. I do wonder, though. Do both releases contain this extended version?

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
If this version is representative of what we can expect from FUNi's version, and only the collector's edition has that other disc with extras, then I'll definitely have to spring for that. Don't really care one way or the other about the art cards really though. And if I remember right from what I looked up the other day, an 'o-card' is basically just a DVD slipcover, right?
