Goku is like "Hey! Me and Gohan gonna fuse and beat up Buu!....maybe..."
Old Kaioshin be like "Calm down. That dance ain't gonna cut it. You gonna need real moves to take down Buu. Take this earring!"
Goku goes "Coolness. Now we got this!"

That doesn't tell me much. Rou Kaioushin could be referring to the dance itself which makes the fusees wide open while performing it, or how it allows absolutely zero margin of error, or even the fact that Boo might just stall for 30 minutes.

Wouldn't the statement in the JSAT put the base kids on Freeza's level? Which would contradict what BoG says about base Goku vs FP Freeza? The JSAT statement also comes from Tarble, who has First Form Freeza in his mind... making the base kids around 1st Form Freeza's level. But this is impossible going by the manga, which shows that the kids are stronger than #18 (who is far stronger than Freeza), and not extremely behind the adult Saiyans (while in the same form)...
You can always go with the manga, the kids one shot Avo and Cado. They (Avo and Cado) fused without throwing a single punch.

Best quality I could find, from the DBZ: Son Goku Densetsu guidebook:

Image

Right bellow the fat/skinny Gotenks images. If it's not clear enough to tell, it says this:

孫悟天+トランクス
=ゴテンクス!!

Which means "Goten + Trunks = Gotenks!!". As you can see, there isn't anything about BPs there. And it even states that Gotenks is many times more powerful than Goten or Trunks on their own:
Herms wrote:The scan with anime Gotenks is from DBZ Son Goku Densetsu, and says Gotenks has "many times" the power of Goten/Trunks on their own.
As for the Vegetto one from SEG:

Image

Closer:

Image

As you can see, it says this:

悟空xベジータ=
ベジット

Which means "Goku x Vegeta = Vegetto". Also nothing about BPs, Herms confirms this:
Herms wrote:Well, the caption in the book just says "Goku x Vegeta = Vegetto".
And, I hope I got you covered now.

None of you can read Japanese it seems.

Anyway, thanks for the scan, it's now confirmed that Vegetto's BP is in fact "Goku x Vegeta".

Could you point out where it says "Battle Power," please? I'll admit, my Japanese is quite limited.
Or "Power Level," or "BP." Any of those would work.

It's the vertical text left of SSJ3 Goku.

Thank you. What does it say? Since it's not on the same part of the page as the "Goku x Vegeta" stuff, I assume it says more than just "Battle Power."

I was saying that there was nothing about BPs in the supposed formula. The scan also says this:
On p.63 it describes the Potara fusion as being closer to multiplication rather than simple addition in the way it increases power.
But it has nothing to do with the "formula". Or rather, it kills the theory that the "formula" is a formula, since it says that the Potara fusion is closer to multiplication than addition, not literal multiplication.

The first line up to “奇跡の合体!” isn't important.

Looking at the scan, it says nothing like that.

"The power-up from the fusion, is not the sum of the battle powers of the 2 people, but is a terrifying 「multiplication」."

Now I could be lying about the translation just to strengthen my stance  , but if you guys can make conclusions while being illiterate to the source in the first place, anything is valid.

  • "The power-up from merging isn't a sum of the two’s battle powers, but rather as tremendous as multiplication
The line was already translated rather directly by those in charge of the site back when the book was first released. I'm bound to put more trust in their translations, especially if this is the attitude you're going to take. There's no need to try and play games; that's exactly the kind of stuff this community tries to avoid.

Close enough. But wait, if this was translated way back when, did people just forget about it or something?

No, we diddn;t forget. As it was translated, it falls directly in line with the statement on the site about it being "closer to multiplication rather than simple addition in the way it increases power". " As tremendous as multiplication" is not saying the same thing as it being multiplication, as I've already discussed in this very thread a few pages back.

TheDevilsCorpse didn't say anything wrong, nor has anyone else before him by saying the same thing. It's perfectly reasonable to assume the bit about Vegetto isn't meant to literally mean a multiplication of battle power.

Such a thing isn't really possible anyway, because "Battle Power" itself isn't numbers. The numbers we traditionally think about are just the measurement assigned to it by scouters, the most prominent method of measuring battle power. But that's just one method of measurement out of potentially infinite different types. It's like taking measurement of two different temperatures in both Celsius and Fahrenheit, and then multiplying those temperatures together. It doesn't make any sense because the scale isn't the same.

In the same way, "A x B" in battle power is not going to be the same thing as "A x B" in Kiri. Would Vegetto be measured as thousands of times stronger or weaker depending on whether you scanned him with a scouter or Bobbidi's device?
