The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Whoa oh, yeah big thanks man! If you can get the ending next week that'll be great! Got a few people outside of the forum who'd love to see it.

Man, the improved quality really does make a huge difference. I can actually make out the words now! Well, for the most part anyway. And I guess by now I do have the benefit of actually knowing what the lyrics are...DBZ_Lee wrote:OPENING It's awesome!(missed a bit off of the start - I'll try again next week to get the whole thing)

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
You're a boss, man ! Thank you so much for the opening !
I think this one will "fit" pretty well with the english dub...
Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Fight it Out sounds a lot better in high quality. And by this I mean, it sounds like a better *song*; the old camera recording made it sound worse than it really was.
EDIT: I edited out the points in the audio when there was silence because of the buffering so the whole song can be heard in one go without pauses. Here.

Thanks DBZ_Lee and thanks to Puto for the gapless edit.
I absolutely adore this opening. I never sing Kuu-Zen-Zetsu-Go even after 18 episodes of hearing it but after two listens of this from the old cam recording; I've had the fucker stuck in my head constantly.
Damn, it's so cheesy but I love it!

I'm calling it--I officially like FIO infinitely more than KZZG. I mean...damn, that enthusiasm in the singing is infectious! It doesn't have quite the modern feel that KZZG does, but my thought is, Kai is not really a modern show, it's a re-edit of an old show, so it still fits.

My attempt to capture more footage this week was difficult for the most part - my internet was constantly buffering, causing me to delete some footage I recorded as it was just too bad to even bother to upload.
The best of what I could get can be seen in the links below:
A few scenes here and there from #11:

9 Minutes from #12: (this episode covered just over 16 pages of the manga)

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
It'll be interesting to see if these songs get dubbed for FUNimation's English-dubbed release. I could see it going either way. On the one hand...
-The elephant in the room: they're already in English.
-With Nicktoons and Vortexx no longer airing the show, the only TV audience to worry about is the Toonami audience, who are generally more receptive to anime/Japanese culture in general.
On the other hand...
-As FREAKING AWESOME as the singing and the passion are, the songs are definitely lacking a bit in the intelligibility factor. I didn't understand a lot of the lyrics until I read a transcription...and English is my native tongue.
-The OPs and EDs used so far have been dubbed, so it would be consistent if they dubbed these songs as well.
That's just the English dub, though. I'd have to assume that these songs will probably be dubbed for some other international versions, like the Latino Spanish dub, the Brazilian Portuguese dub, etc.

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
^Don't know about that, man. One Piece had some problems when Toei suddenly decided that nobody could dub songs anymore. As far as I know they haven't done that with any other series since 2012. They also had no problem keeping said songs in Japanese for the recent Toonami airings. I get the feeling dubbed songs are a thing of the past. It would be cool, though.

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Aww man, I really, really, really hope that's not the case. Listening to the various dubbed versions of songs has always been a hobby of mine. I don't have anything against Japanese songs at all--I've got hundreds of 'em on my iPod, after all--but hearing Japanese songs in dubs has always been a pet peeve of mine. It's like, if you're going to dub the dialogue, how are songs an exception? I find it distracting. Not to mention that every once in a while, there are dubbed songs that sound better than the originals (in my opinion, of course).Valerius Dover wrote:I get the feeling dubbed songs are a thing of the past. Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I really like dubbed songs, too. Totally agree with you there. I think these English versions are the ones being used everywhere. The Korean version dubbed the songs before, but now they're in English. I guess I'm ok with it since they're already in English to begin with (or are they.....). It'd be cool for something unexepected to happen, though.

Yeah, the whole One Piece debacle is really disappointing (Especially since FUNi had to quit dubbing songs right before "Mirai Koukai", my favorite ED). Hopefully they can still dub Kai themes (Maybe even the Japanese-Exclusive ones as extras?).

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Oh, man that sucks. That was the only ending they didn't even have, let alone getting it dubbed. As for the Kai themes, it depends. They're already in English. Sure, it's Engrish, but so are the songs in Battle of Gods. Also, like I said the One Piece songs are left in Japanese even on TV, just shortened. The Japanese Edit's songs are even less likely. It would be nice to SEE them as extras, however.Big Momma wrote:Yeah, the whole One Piece debacle is really disappointing (Especially since FUNi had to quit dubbing songs right before "Mirai Koukai", my favorite ED). Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Not to both complain and go off-topic, but another reason that situation is unfortunate is because other dubs--like the German dub--managed to dub more OPs than FUNimation did. Granted, Germany got around to dubbing those corresponding episodes way sooner than FUNimaton did, but that makes me wonder if the sudden halt of dubbed songs is something unique to FUNimation, or a stance that Toei just universally took with all dubs not too long ago.
A test of that will come when the German dub of One Piece begins airing again...it was cancelled a few years ago, but they announced not too long ago that the German dub would resume soon. It'll be interesting to see if they come back with German-dubbed songs once again, or keep the Japanese songs as they are.

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Why are the numberings off on those? Those are OPs 8-10, not 6-8 as the videos say. It depends on when it was canceled. Before 2012? That seems to be when it happened. Either way, we know Korea didn't dub The Final Chapters songs, whereas they did dub the previous themes.

Re: The International (/Korean) Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
The situation with One Piece is that Avex, the group responsible for the music in One Piece, does not want songs to be dubbed anymore. Dragon Ball is Columbia though, so that shouldn't be an issue. But yeah, there's a worldwide ban on dubbing any further One Piece songs now.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Not to both complain and go off-topic, but another reason that situation is unfortunate is because other dubs--like the German dub--managed to dub more OPs than FUNimation did. Ok, thanks for shedding light on things, Puto. That should bring my hopes up, but only a little. I still wonder, have Funimation dubbed any anime songs since 2012?

Space Dandy was a recent one, in the latest episode, they dubbed the vocal song, including the ending variant.Valerius Dover wrote:Ok, thanks for shedding light on things, Puto.
