To be fair, taking a product of which there is a finite number, and taking a copy of something, aren't exactly the same. I know it's still potentially preventing a sale from occurring, but there's a distinction there nonetheless, and it's a pet peeve of mine to see the two scenarios treated as exactly the same in all regards.

Just my two cents, I won't derail any further.

Exactly how I feel. There are an infinite number of digital copies of something, so when you acquire one, it doesn't mean that someone else has one less because of it. If you download it instead of buying for it, you're harming the industry by preventing a sale, but if you download it and buy it, the outcome for the industry is exactly the same as if you'd just bought it; you didn't make any difference.

I dunno, maybe so they're not breaking the law? You know, strange as it might sound, some people think that stealing is wrong. And I dare you, walk into a store, grab a TV, and walk out with it saying that you'll pay for it later. See how far you get.
That's not the same thing. If I took the TV then the store loses out because it is not able to sell that TV any longer, chances are I'd also get arrested. Watching the sub online poses no risk to me and Toei isn't going to lose out on it.

Piracy does have it's advantages. I watched the entirety of DB/Z/GT and the movies as well as reading all the manga for the first time on the internet without paying anything, I became a fan of it which led to me later buying the entire show on DVD and all the manga as well as other things. This is not something I would have done if I hadn't watched it "illegally" in the first place because I'd have never have bought it out of curiosity.

Naruto and One Piece I've also spent hundreds of pounds on that I never would have if I hadn't watched it online first for free.

There are shows that I like that were never released outside of Japan and were never officially subbed into English so that leaves me two choices either never watch the show at all or just watch a fansub. In this case watching the fansub is no loss to the companies because I'd have never have bought the DVD anyway if it's not in my language.

I don't think I made myself clear enough: Your conversation about piracy is over.

You're entitled to your opinions, experiences, personal values, and commentary on local and international law(s). This thread in particular is no longer the place for it.

To those who watched the dubbed version: how did they handle the "Hero" part? Did they use the English or Japanese version of the song? Or did they replace it?

I know we've explained it several times over at this point, but both songs are Flow's English versions :). It's this way in every international release, near as I can tell.

I just hope this doesn't affect the Japanese language track on the DVD release.

I doubt it, they'd have to go on in and replace the song, it'd take time and effort for no reason.

I know FLOW said no to dubbing their songs but I don't think they said the Japanese song couldn't be distributed.

The Hong Kong release had the Japanese version with the Japanese audio. No reason to believe it will be any different for any one else.

Did it? I was under the impression it didn't. The Australian subtitled screenings last year had the Engrish songs despite everything else being Japanese.

I'll have to re-watch, but I thought it did. Though, the English version is unintelligible to the point where it's hard to tell which version it is.

If FUNimation could acquire the rights to include the Latin Spanish dub on their Battle of Gods Blu-ray release I'd go for it than the DVD version that's on Amazon right now.

I hope they make a cool Collector's Edition for the fans but I'm not gonna hold my breath. Right now I'm settled for Manga UK's CE and they've yet more to announce so I can't wait to know what it is!

This is an odd thing to bring up, but does anyone recall if FUNimation kept the original title card in their version of the film or if they removed the 'Kami to Kami'?

Like, when it shows the title on the blue background? They kept the Kami to Kami.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

It didn't, it had the Engrish songs. However, both the Thai and Argentinian DVD releases had the Japanese songs on the Japanese audio track.

I have to be honest: despite being well-practiced at deciphering "English" spoken by native Japanese speakers who don't actually understand what they're saying, the only real way I can tell that the English versions of these songs are playing is because I think to myself, "Hmm. This Japanese isn't making any sense to me at all. In fact, I'm not sure it is Japanese...."

I just noticed something. Bulla isn't in the movie. Or is she?

Just another age inconsistency in the movie to add to the list.

I really hope the next one gets the ages right. It's not something major, but it really annoys me.

What inconsistency? Forget what she looks like in GT. It's deceiving. Every guidebook lists her birth year as being after Pan in AGE 780, except one little typo in her Daizenshu 7 profile that lists her as being born a year before Pan in AGE 778.

Due to an inconsistency between various guidebook releases, we were never really sure whether Pan was a year older than Bra or vice-versa.

This movie confirms that it's the former. They may have made a few timeline errors in "Battle Of Gods," but I don't think that's one of them.
