DBZ- Fall of Men
I am not sure how many people are aware of this. I mostly stick to the irc anymore, so I'm not sure what everyone talks about on here.
So this French director did an Indiegogo campaign starting last year to raise money for a film he wanted to make. He wanted to do his take on the Cell arc of the series. After raising the funds, he and a professional crew spent 10 days filming in Normandy and came up with a short film. The run time hasn't been confirmed, but we are looking at minimum 15 minutes of what will hopefully be as thrilling as this trailer.

This was actually a lot better than what they had before... but they need to do some serious re-casting. Dude simply reminds me nothing of Trunks...

Well keep us updated, I for one want to see how much better this is than Dragonball Evolution.

This seems to have been around forever huh? I really like their take with Cell. Looks pretty good and intimidating.

I'm a bit put off by the lack of blue/purple hair. Tien looks alright though.
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147

I think they made the right choice omitting those hair colours. In my opinion that's something that will never work in a serious live action interpretation like this. Those were natural hair colours in the manga and anime but in real life people will just wonder why they're hair is dyed.Polyphase Avatron wrote:I'm a bit put off by the lack of blue/purple hair. It might be able to work in a more lighthearted adaptation but even then I imagine it being a fine line between looking cool or really goofy.
Anyway this trailer was very well done (especially compared to those garbage kickstarter funded ones). My only issue is they made the mistake of going for the whole serious Nolan-esque dark and gritty Dragonball Z which is a trap so many of these live action attempts fall into. Of all the ones I've seen though this is probably the best. That one shot of Trunks(?) flying did look a bit cheap and After Effects-y but other than that it was nice.

I agree with you on basically everything you said. I think this film is going too far in the opposite direction the Dragonball Evolution did. However, I still think it will be pretty good.NitroEX wrote:I think they made the right choice omitting those hair colours. They say it will be released this year, most likely before Fall starts.

Looks pretty interesting. I'm definitely keeping my eye on this one.

It looks pretty good for a trailer for a short film. Sure looks a lot more promising than Dragon Ball Evolution, that's for certain.

BlackSmokeFilms (the YouTube channel of this film) uploaded a featurette of the behind the scenes and there is A LOT of effort being put into this.
Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpmz_-Mflm8
This has me very excited for the film and I can't wait to see the final thing.
