I kinda hope the game doesn't release early next year. For it to be in Alpha since E3 in June, I think 7-8 months is a little too short for the amount of stuff they're putting into. Having a robust and fairly detailed character creation system, fighting mechanics with a good amount of depth, and bug testing to top it all off (I guess that's what the closed beta is for), they'll need quite a lot of time to implement what they want. I don't want another Budokai 3 in that they didn't have enough time and ended up scrapping some ideas and characters.

If it was going to be released early next year then we would have been told the date by now

I think they plan on a fall release and if all turns out good i can see the game giving the competition a rut for their $$$
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

I will ask it again, since there has been no response to it. Does this game have a level system or not?

If DBZ was to be in proper fighter format, it would probably work best similar to the Marvel vs Capcom games, given how flashy they are. Hyper DBZs delivering.

The people who wrote that text are pretty ridiculous though, how they expecting to perform quarter circle motions in a game like this? This isn't that kind of game, that's obvious. Ruining their credibility (whoever they are) right there.
The only thing these tournament players people carried over from SF into every other fighting game ever made these days is just the controls they were raised on and the choppy animation frames so it feels at home for them. Its never about anything else in the games that would actually balance them. People should never expect every game of the same genre to play the same, DBZ games need to be built on what works best for its own playing style not whatever popular thing SF does. Its basically what ruined Soul Calibur.
This is wrong on many levels. No 2d Fighter is the same, just like no 3D fighter is the same, just because they share some motions doesn't mean they can't have different mechanics. You're bascially saying Budokai 3 plays the same as Tekken or Vitrua Fighter.
I didnt say they were the same, but I know that most people who seem to be self-appointed representitives of the Fight game genre seem to reject every other fighting game that doesnt play like SF exactly. I've been to tournaments where people trash others for playing MK9 and mock them for it being inferior to their gem. There are people who hate SC5 because it tried to copy SF and failed miserably. Then there are others who like the new KI only because it plays like SF. To apply that logic to DBZ here isnt making a DBZ game, its making DBZ into a SF game. Thats why that comment about them complaining that Blast-1s not using a Semi-circle and heavy punch to launch was ridiculous to me. Its like complaining that DBZ games dont have any drivable cars just because GTA does. There is no critique based on prior games relevant to this one.

But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

It does to some degree, in a prior scan it shows you can use a scouter feature to read character Exp levels, but not totally elabourated on.

I can't imagine this game coming out any sooner than Summer 2015 at the absolute earliest.

Judging by the early gameplay, modes, storylines, and character customization, I'd definitely want Dimps to take their time, round out the roster, and make sure we have a solid game here.

If that means we go without a DBZ game this holiday season, then so be it.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I'd rather them to release it on either December or January. It gives them 5 months or so to work on the game.

Well based on the interview from today, yes their is a levelling system. They said when you level up you can unlock new moves and stuff, but to what degree this is I don't know we'll just have to wait and see. I hope that answers your question. :D
"There are many types of monsters that scare me: Monsters who cause troubles without showing themselves, monsters who abduct children, monsters who devour dreams, monsters who suck blood… and then, monsters who tell nothing but lies. Lying monsters are a real nuisance: They are much more cunning than others: They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart; they eat even though they’ve never experienced hunger; they study even though they have no interest in academics; they seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such monsters, I would likely be eaten by them… because in truth, I am that monster."

We got Battle of Z this January, I doubt we will get two major DBZ games in one year. I think spring 2015 is likely at this rate.

No as nothing GT related has yet to be said about Xenoverse and I doubt they would reveal said inclusion of GT content with SSJ4 Broly.

It has to be next year. There's just no way they can finish everything so suddenly.

Yeah it's unlikely they will release both Battle of Z and Xenoverse is one year. Battle of Z is our major DBZ game of this year. 2013 was the only year that we didn't get a console DBZ game. 2002 from 2012 had DBZ games every year on the consoles and is most likely the only license fighting video game franchise that has lasted this long.

I would venture a guess he meant the only fighting game based on something (stuff like Street Fighter and Tekken both have lasted a lot longer, but they were always video games first), but even if that were the case, would that really be accurate or not? Hmm.

Capcom's Marvel fighting games have been going on way longer, since 1994.

Ahh, that's right! I knew there had to be something that had, but I couldn't think of what it'd be.
