Hercule fears no word filters.

...

Okay, I feel dirty for writing a blatant dub name like that.

Anyway, I think that DBZ2 is better than 3 in a lot of ways. No annoying Dragon Rushes. Special moves are button combos instead of that dumb hyper mode thing. And we get Gotan and Yamhan, as well as varios Boo absorbsions.

Well it was better then Budokai 3, but the only thing I hated in Budokai 2 was the board game style in story mode ^^;

I don't have much issues with the board game story mode. >.>;; The dialogue is quite fun. The main issue that you have to replay it many times in order to get everything, which can get highly repetitive.

Considering Budokai 2 was (and no longer is, my little brother saw to that >.>) the only Dragon Ball game I owned, I thought it was pretty darn good. The game put an emphasis on just fighting. Even though I got annoyed by Dragon World, I just did some cheat to get around doing it over and over.

Plus, the crazy fusions! Yamhan! Gotan! And yes, Mr.Satan =D

Sorry guys, but I feel left out!

Hercule

Whoo, I did it!

Anyways,

I like the board game style, and the different storys it was fun!

I think Budokai 2 is my favourite Dragonball game for the main mode that you play.

I like the stages of Budokai 2.

The plains are cool you can see a jungle really near,
and if you kick your enemy you can fight along the house, really near too.

There is that snow arena, and the red ribbon base - outside AND inside.
There is also that strange stage that looks like a temple in the sky.
There are cool stages but I must say, those are strange stages.
I missed the rocks that came back with Budokai 3.

After all the fights in Budokai 2 are a lot slower than Budokai 3, and I am not saying just because you can teleport on 3, all the moves are slower.

So that is why I can't see how Budokai 2 is better than the third.

Okay, here's the deal: I already one Budokai 3, Budokai Tenkaichi (and very soon Budokai Tenkaichi 2), and Super Dragonball Z. Beside the What If? fusions is there any other good reasons to pick up the game? And, if so, what's the most should I pay for it?

Not really. Budokai 2 is a half assed , more frustrating version of three. It does a few minor things better than 3 (Buu's transformations, what if fusions), but for fighting its inferior.

In paticular the special attacks are almost impossible to pull off at the highest difficulty levals. even after they are hit, its not possible to win a struggle with the computer. Even compared to the first Budokai it comes up short in some areas. Because it doesn't have the awesome cut scenes for story mode.

I personaly liked the board game. Only real problem i have with it is that you have to go through it to get a breakthrough capsule. I mean, after the fifth time you get tired of doing it and wish there was an alternate method of getting them.

EDIT: No! The filter got me!

I personally found the game aside for a while is a good way of making the whole board game thing more interesting again. XD

I've found it in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart for twenty bucks CDN. If you can get it like that, I'd say it's worth checking out.

After grabbing the Japanese version, I played a few rounds (as my buddy Kuriza, of course). It was really hard going back after being so well-versed in the third game. It just feels... crippled? It's hard to describe how much the game was improved for the third go, especially with the baseline-ki by itself. Things that feel so common-place and essential (the aforementioned baseline-ki, offensive/defensive vollying, etc.) aren't at your fingertips, and it feels incredibly awkward.

That's not to say it's not still a good game, and tons of fun... it's just hard going back. It's like trying to play Hyper Fighting after getting so used to Super Turbo :D.

Honestly, the third one just had lots of additions. More characters. Better ki bars. Teleporting. That kind of thing. (The way Ki and transformations work in DBZ3 is much better, BTW)

I just don't like the Dragon Rush and Hyper Modes thingies.
