Because Vegeta's pod is passing behind it as we see in the next panel. Minimal interpretation effort.
No, it's that little alien kid.

Gast: "Find some cover."
Alien kid: "..."
Alien kid: "Okay..."

It's meant to show how hopeless it looks, while he looks at the entire planet around him about to be blasted away.
Its possible but I don't think so. For one, the bubble with the "..." is drawn in the background, I believe, unlike the other text bubble, and also there would be no point in placing the "..." so far from the other text bubble.

I thought does pods could just shoot straight up into space....

Also did Cold make another deathball? Or is he juggling? Or did they just screw up because he just switched hands for the deathball....again.

He gets off to killing naive, purple aliens.

In any case, he had it coming.

I wonder why Gast doesn't try to stop Cold? He managed to paralyse Freeza before he blew Namek

Cold is quite a bit stronger than Freeza though, maybe Gast can tell that tactic wouldn't work this time, and he'd rather not waste the energy trying? Either that or maybe he wants to make an even bigger example of Cold than he did his sons.

This reminds me of that scene in Attack of the Clones where Yoda caught Dooku's lightning.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Maybe it will be of interest to some people following DBM and located in Central Europe: the International Festival of Comics and Games in Lodz, Poland has invited Salagir as one of its guests for this year. The Festival takes place between the 3rd and the 5th October (so in a bit less then a month) in the center of Poland, my homecity: Łódź (aka "the city that's most commonly used to test whther Unicode display works properly"). I'll be there (actually it's only natural for me to be there since I suggested inviting Salagir to the Festival staff in the first place) and maybe someone else from this forum could come as well... The airport is LCJ and nearby (120 km - an hour drive) is also the Poland's biggest airport: WAW. So maybe see you in Poland :)

...Did...Did Gast just put Cold into an energy ball? Is he about to do what Freeza did to Goku?

That or Cold is doing what Freeza did to counter Goku's Kamehameha and Gast is trying to hold him back.

I mean, it's a special. They only get so many pages. What do you expect? In all likelihood other people might have complained if it went on for much longer than this.

I like the idea of Cold going all out immediately. It shows that he's less stupid than his son, a, and b, it highlights how intimidated he really is.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Cold is not in control of his own full power. He probably can't manage it properly in that state which made him run out of stamina/power already.

The problem is every single special is like this.

Even if it was just 3 pages of fighting, with the fight being close, it would be exciting. I want to see all of the characters have a chance to shine. That's kind of the appeal of a multiverse story.
