Dragon Ball Z Kai: Yamamoto Revival (Parts 5-8) - COMPLETED!

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Yamamoto Revival (Parts 5-8)
It's only his mix I have problems with but for any of FUNi's other releases or any piece of media in general, if you don't have a 5.1 system, I could see it potentially being an issue if what you own can't quite handle the dynamic range. I know a lot of people have similar issues with dialogue in 5.1 mixes when listening through stereo output. Everything tends to overpower it. Makes me wish more releases had two tracks tailored specifically for 2.0 so that everyone gets the best of both worlds.
You could use the compressor feature in VLC to even out the overall the sound - http://www.reddit.com/r/LifeProTips/com ... ogues_use/
You'll find this under Tools > Effects and Filters. It's then under the audio tab. Following that guide should produce something workable. I know I've found really good results using the EQ feature accompanied by that to make the Dragon Box audio sound the best it can be without resorting to using professional tools. Here's an example - http://i.imgur.com/ODkI5Xb.png
If you do have a 5.1 system then you should be able to raise the side and rear channels' volume in your audio drivers on your PC. For example, I have something like this - http://i.imgur.com/xAWxbGw.png
Hope that helps!

Yeah, I only have headphones for my laptop -- and a pretty solid 2.0 system hooked up to my TV (it's an old receiver I'm using and I'm pretty sure the center channel doesn't work so I haven't bothered getting more speakers) -- so individually changing the levels doesn't usually work for me. Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely be using those VLC settings in the future!
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Ah, okay. Well as long as VLC is set to 2.0 then you shouldn't run into any issues like missing channels either. Although, you'd probably know if you were set to 5.1 since you'd have no dialogue if your center channel doesn't work.bkev wrote:Yeah, I only have headphones for my laptop -- and a pretty solid 2.0 system hooked up to my TV (it's an old receiver I'm using and I'm pretty sure the center channel doesn't work so I haven't bothered getting more speakers) -- so individually changing the levels doesn't usually work for me. This is the best thing that has happened to me all year. You have made me fall in love with Kai 55-98 all over again. Thank you so much!!!
If there is any way I can help you, just let me know.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Yamamoto Revival (Parts 5-8)
Actually, Trollvino did it a while back, but only up to episode 85. Plus, he only used the center audio track throughout each episode and the music quality was pretty low from what I recall. This project should turn out to be much better, as I am using all audio tracks during scenes with no music, and the music tracks I have are ripped from the official CDs.hassis556 wrote:I'm not gay but if i was, i would totally suck your dick. Awesome, thanks for this. I've been looking forward to watching Kai dubbed sometime in the near future and really wanted to see it all with the Yamamoto score. Nice

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Yamamoto Revival (Parts 5-8)
Part Five download link re-uploaded.
Finally, I can move on to Part Six! Also, I was able to get my hands on the official CD for OST I, so starting with episode 69, any tracks from that album that appear in the episodes will be directly ripped from the CD in lossless WAV.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Yamamoto Revival (Parts 5-8)
Are there any other Kai dubs mixed in 5.1? If so, I might be able to release score-only episodes for people to sync up with their music-less dubs.

Could you make a guide on how to extract only the voices?

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Yamamoto Revival (Parts 5-8)
1. Rip your DVD/Blu-Ray using MakeMKV. Make sure the 5.1 audio track is ripped with the video.sangofe wrote:I hope this will be! http://genki-store.com/dragon-ball-kai- ... u-ray.html
Could you make a guide on how to extract only the voices?
2. Download Audacity. In the program, under the 'Edit' tab, click 'Preferences'. In the menu that pops up, click 'Libraries'. Click on 'FFmpeg Library: Download'. This will take you to a page that tells you how to install FFmpeg.
3. After installing FFmpeg, drag and drop your episode into Audacity.
4. Six mono audio channels should appear if the episode is 5.1. There should be one audio track that contains dialogue/sfx but no music. Determine which one that is by clicking 'solo' next to each track, and unclicking the button after you're done.
5. Once you've found the music-less track, click the 'x' button next to all other tracks to remove them, while keeping only the music-less track.
6. Under 'File', click 'Export...'
7. Select the file type you want to save it as. Save it where you want to, and give it a name.
8. If I release score-only episodes, then you would re-insert the music-less track into Audacity, along with the music-only track for that episode, use the gain controls on each track to make sure the volume levels are correct, then select all tracks, and use "Mix and Render" under "Tracks" in the menu bar.
