What type of games do you think could work for DB, and why?
Between games you've played and you thought could work well with Dragon Ball, or even games we already had but could've worked better had they been better executed, which games do you folks think would fit the franchise? And why is that?
I realize this might sound similar to the thread about what should come after Xenoverse, but I wanted this to be less speculative and more of a "in your perfect world, what would we be getting?" type of thing.
When I played Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, I thought it was a type of game that could definitely fit Dragon Ball. In Dissidia, you do a lot of flashy fighting while flying all around the stages. But, the thing is, a lot of that fighting isn't to take the opponent's HP, it's to increase your Bravery points. It's your Bravery that determines how much damage your HP attacks will deal, and it can get quite strategic.
You have a move pool from which you can choose 6 Bravery attacks and/or combos (3 ground and 3 aerial) and 6 HP attacks to customize how you want to use that character, as well as an Assist character and an EX awakening transformation.
If you consider that Dragon Ball characters always have the typical Shonen power surge that allows them to overpower the enemy, the Bravery/HP system would fit really well.
And since we'll probably never get a sequel to Attack on the Saiyans, it'd be great to see all the Dragon Ball Heroes stuff used to make an RPG in that kinda style.
EDIT: Maybe a GT Transformations done right and with better sprites, too.

I'd play Sagas if executed properly. Just made better in almost EVERY aspect. It has all the attributes of a fun adventure game, but it really just looked like a game to grab some money from the Dragon Ball heads.
I really want a DBZ game that's Marvel vs. Capcom 3 style. Or picture Hyper DBZ on a grand scale. WIth 3D Models that are anime faithful, like Budokai 3's but way better. I know there are people that play DBZ games that aren't hardcore fighting gamers... but I don't care. I think if DBZ can be executed in such a manner, DBZ games as a whole could be taken seriously, and maybe even make it to EVO. One can dream.
Even the turn based rpg Attack of the Saiyans is would be fine. I wouldn't change anything about it, I think a sequel would work just fine.

^That's pretty much how I feel. A DBZ game in the style of Capcom's VS games would make me so happy.
I'd really love an RPG similar to Legend of the Super Saiyan on the SNES. That game was so awesome and had everything I wanted in an DBZ game. Imagine an RPG like that on today's consoles with the right development.

Dragon Quest 8!!
For a Dragon Ball RPG game, at least. The cell shaded graphics would fit spectacularly, and since DQ8 is already designed by Toriyama it shows that a Dragon Ball game in that style would look absolutely gorgeous. Plus, Attack of the Saiyans was a traditional RPG similar to Dragon Quest in many ways and it was amazing. Wouldn't fit as well for Z, though, to be fair, but it still could work.

So, basically, Dragon Ball Z Musou, right? It'd also be interesting to see it in the Capcom Vs style, yeah.DarkPrince_92 wrote:I'd play Sagas if executed properly.
Hyper DBZ just makes me think of how much I want a sequel and/or HD remaster of Super DBZ.
Considering Attack of the Saiyans worked so well, that'd be awesome.Doctor. wrote:Dragon Quest 8!!

A sandbox game that also incorporates the two types of fighters we've seen from the series would be nice, with a Musou mode thrown in just for the hell of it.
