So, after watching parts of my footage, I noticed this sexy moment. The combo was totally unintentional on my part :D

Dash => Block => Throw
One of those things I learned with my brief contact with the Naruto Storms games, which also applies to every freaking fighting game (remove block depending on fighting game).
Step => Block doesn't really work, because the Step has a recovery animation, which cannot be cancelled with block. In theory you could do following for step, though.
Step => Ascend/Descend => Block => Throw
I think Descend might be the better option, because you can simply Hold L1 to descend and followup with a throw.

I think I could live with the dashing system. Honestly my biggest complaint is the Ki charging. As I said before it has never taken a super slot before in other games. Why not just make it L1+X? Last I remembered that combo does nothing.

I think making a non-standard command is to kind of ween people off of needing to ki charge. It puts a halt on gameplay and is more just a franchise aesthetic - screaming and charging for long periods of time. You're supposed to keep the flow of combat going and doing melee combos boosts your ki faster and without needing to stop the flow. Makes sense to me.

At the very least a balance should be made. The Ki charging can be a little slow to encourage people from using it less but at least give it it's own command instead of taking up a slot. I found it ridiculous that it was better to take a combo to refill your Ki as opposed to charging it yourself.

Eh, I don't really mind how they are handling it. If you want to reenact the battles from the series by charging ki manually when needed? Fine, the option is in the game. But gameplay overall is designed to be less campy, meaning less sitting back and charging ki and more actual fighting, which is good since it seems like they are trying to take a more competitive approach. They handled it better than Burst Limit's broken ki bar situation too, as there is no need to break up the action, but there is no need to spam supers every 3 seconds either.

I'd probably have been fine without them including it at all, or maybe doing something entirely different with it. How about ki charging being your idle animation? Your character automatically starts to ki charge if you don't press a button for like 3-5 seconds. =P

Then people would likely just stand still for a minute and wait for their Ki to fill before fighting.

That would be a joke at the expense of the characters in the series just standing around either starring or yelling at each other while engulfed in majik laif powah flamez. Don't take it seriously.

Agree 100%, there's 4 attack slots, of course i'll want them to be actual attacks not 3 attacks and a a powerup that i'll most likely never use but it's there taking up one slot anyway. L1+X seems like a good alternative.

L1+X is already descend. They might change throws to L1+[ ] or L1+/\ and do Ki charge L1+O, but I don't think DIMPS is going that route for this game...

Pretty sure to descend you clicked on L3 (thumbstick) to descend. Which was a pain in the ass for me as mine is jacked up after clicking on it so much to sprint in Dragon's Dogma...

pressing L3
double tap X
L1+X

Yeah...that isn't needed. One of those commands could easily be assigned to a Ki charge (preferably L1+X).

The beams in Xenoverse look similar to what they were in Battle of Z but that's a good thing because they don't have to take too long or else it delays the battle unnecessarily, like the Tenkaichi / RB games would. Although I've gotta say the beam clashes in Budokai 3 / Burst Limit looked really cool.
