Awesome stuff Luffy. I should've experimented more with the combat. I was mostly obsessing over that damn Saiyan armor.

In response to Sergio's vid... Max Combo over 50? Challenge accepted. What I can tell from Chaospunishment's video, there's combos yet to be seen, can't wait for the full version of this.

I know I'm late to the game with this, bringing it back lol. This has to be my theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0DNlDDdlTA

That theme is awesome. TheEnigmaTNG always makes kick ass themes for characters.
If one of his themes would be used for my character it would have to be this one.

The more I see Goku Super Saiyan God, the more I think it's the dumbest transformation EVER.

This. I don't think I'll ever like it. The concept... ehh, the appearance... highly uninteresting. That's another story though.

Well going off this whole character theme thing I would choose this as the theme for my main hero https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=PL916B ... K0YZ5sIgSY .. It'll work especially well when he goes SSJ for the first time... And if you ask me this song also works for Goku, especially Kid Goku.

Either of these two songs'll work for his "rivals" theme. Which I think in turn work for Vegeta pretty well..

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KStiTMK9cgQ .. Unfortunately this one was uploaded with the song half way through.. I have the full track on my laptop though.

Or

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ6YrHTynOk

And these'll work for my "Trunks'ish" type of character.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ka9ePf0BBy4

Or

It's not too late. One day, it will be.

I still think Ki Charging was added as a skill for the people demanding it. In reality, like Burst limit, the game was set up so you dont need it (which is preferable) but they just made it an option for those players used to it there now I guess.

radrappy wrote:I'm torn on this. When games eliminate stats from clothes, it does open things up for customizability, but it also renders equipment flat out useless and entirely shallow/cosmetic then. It's made games like PSO2 more about dress up than actual gameplay. I think some stats to clothes (but nothing too game breaking) can work as long as you can potentially modify your gear to make the clothes you like stronger. Dark Souls handles this great. Then again Dark Souls also has a weight component that heavily influences what you can wear as well.
My point is that I don't see why clothes and equipment need to be one and the same, in this game. I can't say I don't appreciate their effort to make costumes more than just fanservice....but, at the same time, that's mostly what they are. Which is why we've always had different costumes, so that we can choose the ones we like best, and things like the Capsule and Card systems to customize stats to our playstyle.

We even have a Z-Soul as part of the equipment, something that affects how you play but that you can't see from the outside. (Until it activates, anyway)

I dont' want to have to wear Goku boots, Boo pants, Vegetto vest and Paikuhan turban just because it's what fits my stats best for the way I want to fight, is what I'm saying.
If you want to know how bad it can get if clothing dictates stats, play Soul Calibur 4. Its awful in that aspect because you are very constricted by what you wear and if you want to even stand a chance in a fight you need to fully bundle-up your character just for max health. The bigger problem was that clothing preferences was subjective for people, meaning that the clothing you wanted to wear could have no benifits while the clothing that was useless or contrastic with your character vision was demanded solely for the stats. People online would then just resort to making random miss-match of bulky characters rather than characters with any creativity because the stats wouldnt allow you to do both. Some times items you wanted couldnt be equiped because of stat inbalances while others forced you to wear them.
Zephyr wrote:The fandom's collective fetishizing of "moments" is also ridiculous to me. No, not everyone needs a fucking "shine" moment. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

I think Ki Charging really comes in handy when you really need Ki and beating on your opponent to get it is just not an option like in a 1v2 battle situation.

DB Xenoverse is not a DBZ simulator with fighting elements, it's a semi competent fighting/action game with DBZ simulation elements.

Track #07 of the Hidden BGMs sounds really cool and something that'd feature a video clip (it has sound effects like beam blasts, clashes, etc).

Man, I love your breakdowns. I used the first version during the Network Test and it helped INCREDIBLY. Reading through this new version has me itching to play again and making the wait unbearable! It's very in-depth and happy to see someone who really knows their fighting mechanics and can explain it in an easy to digest fashion. Thank you, man.

I know I had seen it mentioned many times, but I don't think I saw any instances of it in GIF form (maybe I missed it and you can just point me in the direction) but do you have any GIFs/videos of the fake vanishes? I don't think that was something I ever pulled off. Also, a simple explanation of the button input to execute the teleport followup after knocking an opponent away. The closest thing I ever pulled off was an aura dash following the opponent into another combo string/knockback attack.

Also I don't think there's a way to manually teleport behind the opponent after a knockback, there are specific strings for it tho, manly the /\ [] [] [] one, in which you can actually decide if you knockback them again by simply letting the animation play or continue the combo by pressing /\ when you teleport.

Also great job Luffy, hopefully when the game comes out there's even more stuff to discover or make an even more complete breakdown (viablility of certain Supers and Ultimates, character specifc stuff, etc,), but has it stands now It's an amazing breakdown.

I'm pretty sure, that I have the gifs of these fake vanishes. Here are some gifs:

To use a vanish combo, you need to press X directly after you knock them away, it uses up 2 bars of your Guard Energy, though. I tried it in the network test, always failed connecting my /\ after my knockback into vanish, though.
Freaking Quebaz ninja

PS: No problems, guys. This game is awesome, doing this breakdown was fun (hope it might featured in kanzenshuu podcast. Nah, just kidding :D ).

I find it easier to just screw with them by using the manual jump back to behind them instead of vanishing. Do it right and you save Ki as well as make possible to make a jumping heavy counter or go into a grab.

I'm eager to sink my teeth into this game. Finally, a fun and competent Dragon Ball game after such a long time of not-so-great titles.
