Dale Kelly DBZ Eyecatch in New Zealand

Post by Arian » Sun Oct 12, 2014 2:13 am

So this is somewhat of a pickle but I am aware that when the FUNimation English dub of Dragon Ball Z aired on TV3 in New Zealand and I think Ireland (I'm not sure), the traditional Dragon Ball Z eyecatch can be seen with the Faulconer productions jingle, but the big difference is that it features a narration by Dragon Ball Z narrator, Dale Kelly.

I possess one copy, but unfortunately it's incomplete. T_T

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDe5Hk7suWc

So to any New Zealanders out there that may have possibly taped any episodes of DBZ off of TV3 back in the day, let me know if any episodes have the full eyecatch.

Thank you kindly.

Was the hate for Kai largely unjustified?

The story of Kai's production is far more interesting than the actual product.

I... don't believe that's the right video, unless you intended to link to some random 25 minute news video. I don't know what those "[flash]" tags are supposed to be either.

My apologies, MetalWario. I'm trying to figure out how to embed the video. XP The correct link is there now if you still wish to see it.

Whoa, that's weird....

I couldn't really tell off the top of my head, but which episode is this from? That jingle is used from Episodes 85-210 in the Remastered version.

That excerpt is from episode 95 of the original dub, which would be episode 110. The episode in which Goku makes his glorious transformation into a golden haired vegetable.

To be honest, I actually don't remember hearing this when I watched it on TV.

I have a bag of VHS tapes that I just went through recently that have a couple episodes of the original dub taped off TV. I'll check them out sometime for that specific piece.

Valerius, I don't know why I'm such an idiot on this website, I'm usually quite bright. XD

Yes, it's episode 80 in the dub count, and episode 95 in the actual episode count. Done and done.

You would do that? Much appreciated, thank you so much, Gonstead. ^_^ Could you also let me know of any episode previews as not all of them are included on the Single DVDs?

No problem, everyone makes mistakes! :D
I myself get really confused when people refer to older episode counts in general, though. I'm only familiar with the uncut version, pretty much.

Well, I think it's because the file was labeled as episode 95 and it was a TV tape so I was putting 2 and 2 together the wrong way. Makes semi-sense. XP

I know all of them have their NEP's intact.

Funny thing about censorship though. In the episode where Guldo fights Gohan and Krillin, the scene where Vegeta kills Guldo is completely cut out. Guldo is shot, the tree spear misses, Vegeta makes a quip about the next dimension and it then cuts very briefly to the scene where the smoke is clearing from the attack.

I'm very confused. Are you talking about the Ocean/Saban dub? I'm talking about FUNimation's in-house dub. And there was only one NEP per DVD, I can prove that very easily.

Oh yes, I'm talking about my TV recordings with the few episodes I recorded.

And yeah, I was referring to the ocean dub episode since I also had it recorded from TV3. I know we're talking original 1999 Funimation dub. T'was just putting in some fun little info.

Oh, okay. Sorry about that, just a miscommunication on my end. I just thought that you may have thought this was something else, that's why I felt the need to say that. So have you looked at them yet or no?

Dragon Ball Z didn't air on TV3 in Ireland. The show was broadcast through Cartoon Network (UK & Ireland). This eyecatch seems to be unique to New Zealand.
