Characters you wish you saw more of

Post by chibi_goten » Sun Sep 24, 2006 7:13 pm

Everybody has characters that they like but for some reason or another they get destroyed, forgot about, or where only in for a one off special, for example a movie or where just filler.

So who are your favourite characters that disappear for some reason or another, hopefully this topic will remind you guys of some characters you may have forgotten about.

I quite liked Gregory and Bubbles, they seemed to disappear they should have been shown as being around Kaiō-sama.

I also liked Kiwi, I think he should have been in a little more. He wasn’t a major character but he was cool and it was funny how he round Vegeta up.

Heh , even funnier when Vegeta broke his armour and blasted him!

First to post! :P
I think Dabura/Dabra didn't have much time in the series. I mean he is introduced, fights Gohan, killed by Buu, and then becomes a super bitch. He should have had a back story. Come on, he's the demon king..!

Congrats on post #100

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Yamcha, preferably when he's NOT being used to show off how bad the new character is.

Mirai Trunks interacting more with his present timeline "family."

Pilaf and co. Best funny villains ever.

Well he does get a bit of non-canonical backstory in the Sandland manga.

I'll second that. Exactly who I had in mind.

And if we're counting GT, then Uub, as well. Well, at least more of him being something other than the villain's punching meat, like everyone else but Goku was. I don't think anyone would disagree with me there.

That's not Dabura, that's just Toriyama reusing character designs.

Tenshinhan. He's one of the best and has tons if fights, then...nothing in a flash. How can you make a character that badass, then simply kill him off? Too many damn Saiya-jin. Gaaah!

Originally, I wasn't going to add to this topic; like it or not, it seems every character got his chance to shine in one way or the other . . . we should be happy for that much. But regarding Tenshinhan, I'll have to agree with you there. I think he could have become a major force in Z if he had been explored in that series just a little more, and he's just so likeable besides.

Yeah. Tenshinhan.

Poor guy. How many did he get, anyway? The fight with Piccolo's offspring (was it Cymbal?), and the moment he cuts off Vegeta's tail . . . just two?

EDIT: Drunken Master, where the hell did you get that avatar?! It's so damned cool that it's made me curious.

It looks almost manga-like. Did you make it?

Well, he attacked Vegeta (after he got hit with the Genki-Dama) and left a gash in his back...then got beat to crap.

That's about it.

Mr Popo would have kicked ass in the Saiyan saga.

I mean, he even stood up to SSJ Goten and Trunks, even if it may have been filler. :P

I realize he was never meant to be an all-out fighter, but it's still a shame Yajirobe is so unused from that point on. Well, at least he made a movie appearance or two . . . oh, and still DID NOTHING.

Dammit!

Funny as hell. Everyone would underestimate him because of his appearance. Can you imagine it?

Vegeta: (*scoffs*) Who is this pudgy bastard? Fool! Did you come here thinking to defeat me, the warrior people's prince?

Popo: (*defeats him*)

Nappa: (*faints, dies*)

Just wanted to point out that just because a character is no longer involved in the fights that doesn't mean they no longer play a role in the show as a whole. Kuririn did next to no fighting in the Cell saga and yet I still found him to be an integral character in it, so it bothers me a little when people only measure importance by fighting involvement.

That aside, for the most part it's true that those characters who were no longer contenders on the fighting scene were pushed aside and no attempt was even made to involve them somehow in the plot. Tenshinhan kept on training indefinitely and there's really no excuse for not giving him a bigger part in the later sagas. He does get a few choice moments though.... Poor Chaozu on the other hand was ousted the moment that his uh...chounouryoku (I don't know exactly how this is translated) failed against Nappa. I mean that was really unfair, it took away his one serious advantage against other fighters.

Yamcha definitely. I think everyone expects that answer from me by now.

Though if he had been used, I'd never have been able to do what I have planned for my fan manga. And I'm really liking what I have planned, so it works out.

Update: Issue 10 is up! Volume 1 is complete!

It's a close up from the manga, during the Imperfect Cell arc Volume 15 Chapter 177. It also included the other characters; Yamcha, Kuririn, and Trunks fingering Imperfect Cell.

I think Yamcha deserved better moments in the manga, not to mention Tien as well. I really would have loved to see more of Yajirobe in action as well. Lunch should have been included in the manga and anime throughout the 'Z' arc.

Definitely Tenshinhan, because of his cool (and now wasted) techniques...

And I also wanted to see more of Lunch, and Bra. Especially Bra, she's Vegeta's daughter for God's sake. :?

I agree, Lunch and Bra deserved more screen time, Lunch in Dragon Ball Z, and Bra in Dragon Ball GT.
