Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"

Well I do hope Vegeta is the Main Character, and in this movie gets to prove why he's worthy of being Goku's rival once and for all. Maybe that's just me though?

I hope Vegeta isn't going to be the main character, in fact if he's going to be handled the same way as he was in the last movie I'd be fine with him just being Piccolo'd and being in the background.

Beerus needs to replace Vegeta as Goku's rival.

You can't just replace the prince of all saiyans with a purple cat!!!

I just hope it's not just a Goku/villian centric plot. I love Beerus as a character now, because they spent a little time developing him as a character, not just a really strong Villian-er... enemy.

At the very least he'll be second to Goku or on par with him.

The only way this will happen will be if someone other then Toriyama writes the story which isn't the case here.

It happens in heroes (they're essentially yugioh card monsters in Heroes) and I don't like it.
I am happy with them as mains, but I'd like to see them interact more.

They did the same when Shenlong is telling the Super Saiyan God legend and all. They simply used Vegeta as a representation of the original Super Saiyan God.

Did anyone find it weird or strange that the dragon knew about the Super Saiyan God and how to become one? And now Shenron is again of course in this movie. How does he know you know? In a way he's kind of a villain since he brings back the ancient enemy.

Not quite, that wasn't entirely a Vegeta-ish figure. His hair wasn't exactly the same when Shenlon spoke about. Look at my avatar, he some locks gone down on his forehead.

It wouldn't be the first time Goku's rival was replaced. The rivalry between Gokus and Vegeta is over, he doesn't begin to compare to Goku in strength anymore and he's now being turned into a joke character in the same way Piccolo became in the Buu saga.

Vegeta should be pushed aside so his character isnt damaged any further and they should bring back Beerus who has a lot of potential as a character to be Goku's new rival.

Whether it'll happen is one thing but it should happen.

Super Saiyan 3 Son Gokuu was defeated in two hits. Vegeta took more hits merely as a Super Saiyan, not to mention two characters mentioned Vegeta had surpassed Gokuu up to that point. Vegeta was also the character who had to lead the story and characters. By contrast, Son Gokuu is a guest character in a movie about Vegeta, Beers, and Blooma.

This, so much so.

I liked Vegeta as a villain in the Saiyan arc (though on retrospect he already has the 'I'M THE BEST WAIT NO I'M NOT GRRR BLAST EVERYTHING' tendency going on even here). He then played a pretty good anti-hero for the Freeza material. But as soon as you hit the Androids/Cell stuff and he's meant to be taken as a good guy - for the most part anyway - it just leaves him as this annoying little whiner that can't deal with the fact that while he's super strong and almost nobody can beat him...there are still people that can. This is still an issue that makes him obnoxious and annoying in the Boo arc, even though he's finally maturing a bit there.

Battle of Gods was the first time I was able to take Vegeta seriously as a 'hero' and the first time in a long time I actually enjoyed the character. He was funny, he still had that angry side to him but tempered into something actually productive for once, his rivalry with Goku was still alive albeit in a much more calmed down fashion than ever before - if we can get more of that kind of Vegeta out of the next movie, I'll be pleased.

I agree with this. Gokû definitely wasn't in it that much--I mean, when he was there he totally stole the show for me--but his absence didn't feel unusual. If anything him missing for a good chunk of the movie was definitely in the vein of the manga post-23rd tournament only this time there wasn't anything keeping him away from the action; he was staying away on his own accord to try to figure things out (and then later to spy).
Saiyajin arc - he was dead
Freeza arc - he was in the hospital, then in the spaceship, then he was bodysnatched, then in the regeneration/healing tank, then back into space
Cell arc - he was sick
It's only the Buu arc where Gokû's not temporarily-vanished somehow.

BOG was definitely Vegeta's movie, even if Gokû got the power-up.

What I'm curious about is how the next movie will compare to BOG in that this time Toriyama's writing from scratch instead of re-writing someone else's work. I'm interested in how it'll differ, and how much of BOG's stuff will be taken into the next movie or if he'll go a completely different route altogether.

I'm interested in how it'll differ, and how much of BOG's stuff will be taken into the next movie.

I think he'll build on BOG insted of doing something completely new.

Vegeta and Goku were still rivals EOZ so Vegeta isn't being replaced. Besides if anything happens with Beerus it will be a three way rivalry with Goku and Vegeta.

Beeerus as Goku's rival issue:

No, I'm almost sure that Beerus will be no threat for Goku in the next movie if he continues to train (if Beerus will show up somehow). The gap almost was closed when Goku transformed into SSJ-God for the second time, if was able to overwhelm Beerus 70% power, and he must do that otherwise he couldn't absorb the attack. He got his Zenkai, Goku can become at least 30-40% stronger in 3 years(if Beerus will wake up).
