Well, I suppose there's always the chance that the 2015 Dragon Ball Z film's director, Yamamuro Tadayoshi, can accidentally get Tanaka through a different contact, now.
Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
Episode #9's storyboard was by Shida Naotoshi, the man who gave us Son Gokuu and Beers flying through the Earth and sky into outer space in Dragon Ball Z: Kami to Kami. Key animation was contributed by Tanaka Hironori, who was apparently recruited by someone at the episode's sub-contracted studio, Animation Planet. All Tanaka did was some cuts of Usagi's hair, though.

I definitely want to try to draw that now.

That's so many. The time doesn't exist, unfortunately. ^^;
I did try googling "Tuxedo Yamcha" and ended up making a Tuxedo Mask gif.

Also used a base face from Crystal and came up with what's currently my new avatar

I was just joking, but I do want to see DBZ in Shojo. Perhaps just do Tuxedo Yamcha?
Speaking of Mami Koyama, Chibiusa's character is allegedly meant to be a Minky Momo reference, who is voiced by Mami Koyama. In the second series she was voiced by Megumi Hayashibara of Ranma 1/2 fame.

Ms. Mami Koyama voiced Queen Serenity in yesterday episode
Episode was pretty good, they paired generals with Sailor Guardians, something Ms. Takeuchi wanted to do in manga.

Which goes to show sometimes even legendary authors (Naoko, Akra) have REALLY bad ideas lolcoola wrote:they paired generals with Sailor Guardians, something Ms. Takeuchi wanted to do in manga.

What did Toriyama do that you didn't like?
I think any idea can work well from a narrative standpoint, but it's all up to execution.

I posted elsewhere, but this show moves too fast. It lacks a sense of timing. Hard to care when you don't have time to barely breathe. I'm glad Kai isn't that, at least.

Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
I don't think it's moving fast enough. Nothing really happened in Episode #12 because there were no drawings to depict the action. This is what a modern Dragon Ball series would feel like, basically.Chuquita wrote:I posted elsewhere, butthis show moves too fast. It lacks a sense of timing. Dark Kingdom being a rush job us inherit to the comic.
I disagree on Kai, it left too much padding in. Buu arc is a mess.

Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
I didn't mean glad about the padding, Buu Kai's got an awful amount of padding; I meant I'm glad there hasn't been any Kai moments (that I know of, admittedly I dropped Buu Kai some time in the summer so for all I know there are) where it's supposed to be a tragic moment that is instead made unintentionally comedic by speeding up the timing of something.Kid Buu wrote:Dark Kingdom being a rush job us inherit to the comic.

In theory it's incredibly tragic that Metalia kills the knights after their chance at salvation arrives; it's just the amount of time that passes between:
Venus: Kunzite!
Kunzite: Venus!
*Metalia vaporizes him*.
Venus: O__O
Was so sudden and unexpected that it ended up feeling like a dark comedy gag to me.
If they'd kept with the way they killed them off in the manga it would not have hit me funny.

Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
Oh I see, like when Yamcha dies and the upbeat ending music plays.
The Shitennou storyline was pointless. Like most things in the series, PGSM did the Shitenntou story best.

Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
Not to mention, that all four of them exact same way, even Rei, who hates men (In manga nad live action, it was because of her father )
Episode 12 is really bashed in lots of Youtube videos and SM message boards, beside unintentionally funny death scene of generals (and "Don't cry" "Ok") Usagi was really acting out of character, we have this whole "I won't be tragic princess" only for her to give up on everything, after just one Moon Healing Escalation. To make it even more insulting, she remembers what her mother said "Be proud warrior of justice, Sailor Moon". Even in old anime, where Usagi was more childish. She spent half episode trying to heal Endymion, not "Didn't work once? Ok, killing us both". Not to mention, it was very egotistical, Usagi is the only one who can control Legendary Silver Crystal, and seal Metalia, by killing herself, she dooms her family, friends, and entire planet.
Overall, while at first i liked this episode, after rewatching it, i've changed my mind, with is really a shame, because so far, i really like Crystal, but here...everything was rushed, in SM forum someone said, that Crystal is mostly aimed towards people, who are already familiar with previous incarnations, manga was rushed, because of anime, here, there is no need to do so. I was kinda hoping we will see more Naru, but here, she even appear less than in manga, while in anime, she just dissappears after R

Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
Naru appears in an episode of S and SuperS, her last official appearence is Episide 131. Everyone got shafted after R really, including Mamoru and the Inners.
Just because Internet people hate something doesn't represent the majority. Lots of DB fans hate GT on the Internet but it seems popular enough.

Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
Not related to Crystal, but I recently got the special edition of Viz's release of Sailor Moon and noticed some things I thought should be mentioned. They put black bars around the screen I guess for guys watching on widescreen tvs, but it looked weird on the non-widescreen tv I personally have. Also it had next episode previews that the Pioneer and ADV releases did not have. Thought it was kinda redundant since the episodes have previews before them personally.
Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
Yes, Viz addressed that problem, and promised that next DVDs won't have it, there won't be any replacement for Season 1 DVD, their PR manager said to think of it as "Special Edition"

Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
My issue was more on them not translating credits. Know it's cheaper but I'd like to know who's who without looking at a book or extra stuff. At least they had a signs and songs track. Naruto and Bleach don't have those.
Re: Why is Toei reanimating Sailor Moon but not DBZ?
A lot of stuff in BOG for example? Or Buu arc issues? Or do we act like Naoko and Akira's every thought is spark of brilliance and excellence? C'monKid Buu wrote:What did Toriyama do that you didn't like?

Kid Buu has his own criticisms about Toriyama, I think he was just curious about what you were referring to than implying nothing Toriyama has done was bad.Basaku wrote:A lot of stuff in BOG for example?
