However, that makes me wonder how things were when it aired on TV back when it was brand new. Anyone know the answer there?
When it first aired on Toonami it had the US bands like the other movies. I'm not sure if there is even an edited version without the bands available as I know Nicktoons aired that version as well.
I didn't watch it all last night though, I hate the dubbing and don't like the movie. Only watched the ending because I like the song lol, there is something beautiful about hearing Kageyama on Toonami.

So I watched the movie last night, (Haven't seen any of the other movies in awhile) and honestly it really made me appreciate BoG that much more, which it should.

Yeah, listening to Tobikiri No Saikyou Tai Saikyou on American TV was pretty sweet even if the quality sucked on it, but that was a flaw on the DVD release too, so Toonami could only work with what FUNi gave them. Watching it did make me appreciate the Kai & BoG dubs a lot more though. I forgot how terrible this one's dub was, but it was nice listening to Kikuchi's Movie 5 music on TV too (which is my favorite of the movie OSTs by the way). I always did enjoy Andrew Chandler as Coola though. I only wish they redubbed Movies 1-13 with a Kai level script with the appropriate cast changes (like Clinkenbeard as Young Gohan, Rial as Bulma, etc...). It would be amazing.

I guess it's kinda cool seeing this movie on Toonami with it's orignal background music. That's never been done before right?

I'm pretty sure that Movies 1 and 2 aired on Toonami with the accurate Ocean Dubs and the Kikuchi score with some slight edits for content/language. I believe these edited masters for these two movies are the ones featured on the Rock the Dragon set. I know at least Movie 2 aired on Cartoon Network one weekend (if not Toonami specifically) because that's where I first saw it. If anyone else is more knowledgeable on this subject, please feel free to jump in and elaborate and/or correct me if I'm wrong.

Despite that the film's bad it's at least still better than any of Broli's so the viewers got a better pick from Toonami.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Not a big fan of Cooler's Revenge? I don't think its one of the best but I wouldn't call it a "bad" film. Why aren't you a fan?

In comparison to these: Return My Gohan!!, The World's Strongest Guy, Super Showdown for the Whole Earth, Super Saiyan, Son Goku Fusion Reborn!! Goku and Vegeta and Dragon Fist Explosion!! If Goku Can't Do It, Who Will?! you see why The Incredible Mightiest Vs. Mightiest lacks to be as unique, creative and well written as the other films were.
Had Toonami aired The 10 Billion Power Warriors it certainly would have been worse than this because Toei Animation at this stage was just rushing them out without much though, but things worsen during the Broli trilogy so there's tiers of great, good, bad and mediocre Dragon Ball Z movies. I'm not trying to trash Coola's films as in their own right they're entertaining but for something deeper, memorable (such as Goku's False Super Saiyan scene from the 4th film) and more creative this just isn't it.

That would be a godsend. I actually hadn't watched some of the movies in English fully through until they aired on Nicktoons and going directly from Kai to decade old dubs was really jarring. Always wondered how kids who just got into the series felt about this difference as they're used to good acting and Kikuchi not...Deftones
