How strong is Krillin?

Post by xmysticgohanx » Sun Nov 02, 2014 5:26 pm

Any way to tell who he is roughly equal too?
Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)

Stronger than Tenshinhan.

But that aside... you'd have to be more specific. We have numbers and battles with which to measure him for the whole series up through the Freeza arc, and his persistent "strongest (native and natural) Earthling" title for the Majin Boo arc and beyond, but nothing solid past his official number of 75,000 against Freeza. We don't know for sure if he ever surpassed the major characters above that, like Captain Ginyu (120k) or first-form Freeza (530k), much less anyone stronger than those two.

Well, we know for sure what his absolute maximum potential strength is. He was weaker than base android arc Vegeta (according to both Gero's comment, and him being unable to budge the door that base Vegeta one-shotted) in the Cell arc, and didn't do any significant training to get beyond that level. I, personally, have him somewhere in the low millions in battle power terms, due to Gero's comments on him and the other humans, as well as the feats of those weaker than him (e.g. Ten was able to dodge Gero's eye beams alongside base Goku, implied base Goku wasn't in a different dimension than him unlike SS Goku, and was able to keep up with sick base Goku's speed during the flight to the city, even as Goku struggled).

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.

Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

He is not fucking stronger then Tienshinhan get that thought out of your head, the only reason Yamucha said what he said is because Tien is part alien.

You do know that the only source that says he has alien ancestry also says he's an Earthling and lumps him into the same racial group as Krillin, right?

To be fair, him being of alien descent doesn't say much. Humans are technically of reptilian descent, but that doesn't make them "part reptile".

Care to rephrase that?

Besides, there's nothing to indicate that Tenshinhan is stronger than Kuririn anyway, even if he wasn't consistently counted as another Earthling.

There's nothing to say Kuririn ever surpassed Tienshinhan either.

It's not a Toriyama-only thing or a Toei-only thing. Every source, from Toriyama himself to the manga to the anime to the BOG promotional material to the guidebooks to the video games all list Krillin as being stronger than Tenshinhan.
There's nothing to say Kuririn ever surpassed Tenshinhan either.
Except Toriyama, the manga, the anime, the promotional material for BOG, the guidebooks, the video games...

I, like Kaboom, view the whole "Ten vs Krillin" question as a good way to test someone's DB knowledge, and general outlook on the franchise. Literally every official source with something to say on the subject lists Krillin as the strongest Earthling. So if someone could still somehow think that Tenshinhan is stronger after all of that, despite the complete lack of evidence supporting that stance, then they're either grossly misinformed, or biased and in denial.

Toriyama:
Kuririn was originally supposed to be just a minor role, so to have him become Goku’s best friend in the blink of an eye…

Koyama:
Well, he is the strongest Earthling male.

Toriyama:
You’re right, he is the strongest among the Earthlings. But in spite of that, he tends to end up in a bad way, so I thought, “once in a while, I have to let him be happy,” and had him get married. (laughs)
Not really much to debate. It's as clear as day.

There's no need. Tien is never put into any category aside from earthling in just about every guide.

Also, where's the proof that Tien is stronger? Because he stopped Cell with a Neo Kikoho?

Hey it's Kuririn who needs to prove he's stronger then Tienshinan not the other way around, after the events of the original Dragonball. Oh and you know who else is mostly earthling Pan, and Goku Jr, and There's no doubt who's stronger between them and wimpy Kuririn.

What do the events of DB have to do with Z? Krillin had his potential unlocked on namek and his power continued to grow throughout the saga. He was undoubtedly more powerful than him there--and there's no reason to assume Tien ever surpassed him. The whole Goku Jr and Pan stuff is whatever because it's obviously not taking them into consideration. The story has always made it clear that Krillin, Tien, and Yamcha were pretty much in the same category. Yamcha says Krillin is the strongest and AT states the same as well. That's all that's needed to show Krillin is the strongest earthling.

Still waiting to see why Tien is superior to Krillin.

Where does it state his power continued to grow through out that saga? he couldn't beet the ginyu force, and in the filler (You know the one Toriyama probably agreed that they could do to fill time) TIenshinhan kicked not one, but two of the stronger Ginyu characters into Hell, while your beloved Kuririn (I'm not even a Tien fan by the way) needed the help of Gohan and Vegeta to defeat Guldo and that's after the supposed Huge power up.

Plus it's Tienshinhan Who continues to train, not Kuririn.

I'm just going by the eye test, and wasn't it on this message board where many people argue that even what Toriyama says isn't Canon?

Look I realize Kuririn is more popular among DBZ Fans, I just don't think he's stronger then Tien.

Lol, I'm not a Krillin fanboy, I just see no reason to go against Yamcha/AT's statement on Krillin's superiority. When they're about to fight Freeza, Vegeta says Gohan and Krillin's Battle Powers were "continuing to rise", and believes he'll be able to beat Freeza with their help. When Krillin and Gohan fight Gurd, their powers are just above 10,000 or so. Later we see that Krillin's able to knock around 23,000 Ginyu a good bit.

So yes, Krillin was stronger than the Ginyu Force sans Ginyu before fighting Freeza despite getting his ass kicked by Reacoom a few chapters before. AT's the author, so why wouldn't his own words on his characters be canon? That's...a bit silly. Really, it just comes down to going by what the story shows. Tien's best showing is stopping Cell with his Neo Kikoho and that's it. People often confuse bravery with strength. Tien is shown to be more courageous than Krillin (Who was actually smart in not attacking the Androids) during the Android saga. Not much else than that.

Well Akira Toriyama seems to contradict himself... a lot. Even Dragonball/Z contradicts itself a lot, and Toriyama seems now to just throw things out there, for conversation sake. Hey in the thread were people were arguing that Toriyama can't (Nothing in fact can be considered cannon to some people  ) I fought for Toriyama's words and works to be cannon and the only cannon. Now though; the more Toriyama says, the more I'm seeing the other sides point. Toriyama is quite the forgetful one:lol:

Also in that interview that was posted Toriyama might just be appeasing Koyama and the readers. Like I say popularity has it's upside, and Kuririn is certainly more popular then Tienshinhan.

Plus Kuririn got killed bye a much weaker Buu then the one Tien saved Gohan (Sure Tien got knocked out by a single kick from this Buu, but whose to say Kuririn wouldn't of died from such a kick? Considering what happened to him against perfect cell?) From.

Actually, Tien saved Dende, Mr. Satan and the dog. Also, #18 was turned into chocolate along with Krillin--and she's a hella lot more powerful than both Krillin and Tien. So I don't think that comparison matters much.
