Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
Amazon pushes the "Collector's Edition" to the front rather than this one (figures they want the £21 version to sell more) but it's always been there (somewhat hidden).
As for Flubit it's a website which you insert an Amazon link and then couple hours later they'll give you a cheaper deal. I got Bayonetta 2: Special Edition for £34 from Amazon's price £39 so a save of £5.

My copy finally arrived. I enjoyed the bonus content, though Its kinda sad Cha-la Head Cha-la and Hero are English only :/ it has less impact imo.

Well I got an offer on the movie at £15.54. I'd be fine with that.As for Flubit it's a website which you insert an Amazon link and then couple hours later they'll give you a cheaper deal. I got Bayonetta 2: Special Edition for £34 from Amazon's price £39 so a save of £5.
Edit: I ordered it, we'll see how it turns out. Being Xmas time it could be a good money saver if it's legit and everything.

Yeah the bonus material was really enjoyable, but kind of wish it was longer.Sshadow5001 wrote:My copy finally arrived. I enjoyed the bonus content, though Its kinda sad Cha-la Head Cha-la and Hero are English only :/ it has less impact imo.
All things considered the CE is not bad, love the spine and glad to see they didn't go cheap on the art cards. Also, Manga don't do second print runs so if anyone has a chance to pick this up I suggest you do.

It is legit or else I wouldn't have spoken about it, anyway, £15 is a good price for it and you're actually getting a new brand new factory sealed copy than used.Bullza wrote:Well I got an offer on the movie at £15.54. I'd be fine with that.

It's hardly something to be worthy of the title Collector's Edition because not only did they forcibly make the extras available on DVD only but they also cheapened out on the Japanese audio. Collector's Edition my ass, this is more accurate to be called a Combo Pack.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Yeah the bonus material was really enjoyable, but kind of wish it was longer.

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
I can see why the done it though. Collectors edition does sound much more appealing than combo pack. But I agree, there was no need to have a "regular" blu-ray version the CE should have been it, minor complaint and it is DBZ, it has to be milked lol

My copy is surprisingly here already. Wasn't expecting the extras DVD also having the theatrical cut of the movie. Nice
The slipcover feels like it won't last long though, it gets stuck easily when putting it over the cover.

Does anyone know the best place to get the DVD version of the Directors cut? My friend doesn't have a bluray player.

Amazon has the DVD for £14 but if you want it cheaper you'll need to use Flubit too.Sshadow5001 wrote:Does anyone know the best place to get the DVD version of the Directors cut? My friend doesn't have a bluray player.

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
I don't see why Manga UK doesn't use Slim Blu-ray cases like FUNimation does and it makes it easier to fit within the slipcovers more so than the standard BDs, but more importantly they take slightly less space which is always good.

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
I'm glad they don't. Slim cases feel horribly cheap. If I'm ordering a special edition of something, I expect quality.

You call this a special edition? Come on you know it better that it's just a glorified combo pack.

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
So you'd rather they make it less of a special edition by using a cheap case?
I don't disagree that it's not exactly a spectacular release features-wise but I don't understand your point.

So what exactly was the difference between the standard and special edition?

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
It depends on the the brand that makes the case not that it's a slim case that makes it bad. The standard cases are sometimes of cheap quality too, even more so are the DVD cases if you buy the really cheap ones from eBay they kinda stink of plastic, break easily and are too flimsy.AjayLikesGaming wrote:So you'd rather they make it less of a special edition by using a cheap case?

Blu-ray (same as the normal)Bullza wrote:So what exactly was the difference between the standard and special edition?
DVD (with the extras only)
Slipcover
Five cards
It's pretty much FUNimation's standard packaging (except for the cards). Calling it "Special Edition" is taking the mick out of actual Special Edition products.

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
So it's an extra few pound more for a few cards that have images just taken from the movie that you own. That's so utterly pointless.
They couldn't have had a little book with an interview and concept images or something? Turn DB Minus into a little comic that came with it or even a keyring?

The DVD also has the theatrical version in addition to the extras, at least in the UK version.dbboxkaifan wrote:AjayLikesGaming wrote:DVD (with the extras only)Bullza wrote:So what exactly was the difference between the standard and special edition?

Re: Manga UK Announce DBZ Battle of Gods DVD/Bluray release
The Evangelion 1.0 Collector's Edition DVD came with a slipcover and a booklet but the damn thing is so thin that they obviously didn't want to spend too much money producing them. If people think FUNimation's a cheapskate wait till they come across Manga UK.Bullza wrote:So it's an extra few pound more for a few cards that have images just taken from the movie that you own.
