Perhaps Toriyama thinks that the Freeza saga was the height of his skills as a mangaka and he wants to rekindle it.
I think Toriyama loves Freeza all the material post DB has had him mentioned: the 2008 special, BoG, Jaco, Minus.

Plot twist:
It's Freeza from a different universe
He's the God of Destruction from universe 5 :lol:

Oh, is that so? Cuz Frieza having godly ki sounds more like an asspull to me than that. Call the god universes an asspull all ya want, it's still bringing something fresh into the table.

I STILL want a good explanation on this. I like Frieza and always thought he was "the" primary antagonist of Z, but like I said again, this reveal is BS.

To me, that saga's far from perfect and too damn long. I can already tell that some fans are gonna bring up that stupid belief that Toriyama wanted to end Z there. I wanna see proof that he actually wanted to end Z with Frieza, if not,then those idiots need to STFU already.

I''m not a bit. Even if this will be the best story of Toriyama, I will not like him for bringing back Freeza for no reason. Still I had a premonition it's going to be Frieza or Cell, because he alredy old us that Pure is reincarnated as Uub. But still, I hoped he will not do this...

It looks like Vegeta will be the main protagonist like Toriyama said but alongside Goku like some predicted i just hope he gets ssj3.

Freeza equal to Goku with godly ki, or we may even get a scene of him showing his superiority over Beerus (Whis looks worried on the scan)

It's not the concept that sucked, it was how poorly they executed it (and by poorly I mean anyone could pull it better than that)
Uub one-shots General Rildo when Gohan was on disadvantage? Cooler, King Cold shown only on TV without any actual screentime etc.

Positives:

- Freeza regains a bit of his honor
- Allows closure for Vegeta
- Maybe we get a plot twist in the middle of all of this where a new villain comes
- Kuririn and Yamcha seem to get some action
- Beerus and Whis seem to get some action too

Negatives:

- Too many to count
