Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
People complain about everything I remember when Battle of Gods poster was release. I remember a ton of people disliking Beerus characterization.
''He looks like a cat, this is dumb.''
''A cat as a villain? This movie is shit.''
And now with Frieza/Freeza back we still seeing people complaining...I think new DBZ movies will never pleases everyone.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
The only other rule we know is that the more evil someone is, the faster the reincarnation process will be, as mentioned by Toriyama when discussing Buu in the recent Q&As. Though that just means the actual process is easy, not that all evil people get reincarnated in the same time frame. Someone just as evil as Buu could take years for the process, just because he wasn't placed on the fast track because of a request from Goku.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
My favorite part of the manga was when Kaioshin called himself a little bitch. I love that chapter!RandomGuy96 wrote:No, I'm pretty sure Toriyama had at least some interest in making Freeza look shitty. Let's be real here. If that wasn't the case, he wouldn't have done all that, from having Goku curb stomp him, to having Trunks mock and one-shot him, to having Kaioshin reveal that he was always full of shit when he bragged about being the strongest in the universe, because even a little bitch like him could one-shot a pathetic weakling like Freezy Pop. Plus, wasn't the 2008 special his idea?
Anyway, I'm going to throw out an idea for a discussion point. What if we get some magic (outside of just Dragon Ball wish stuff) in the new film? Magic is one of the more mysterious parts of the Dragon Ball saga. Buu is a magical being and his power was enormous. Freeza getting some sort of magical boost could pretty much lay any power level discrepancies to rest (not that they're that important...), and a magic-fueled Freeza could be a fun twist on a classic villain.
Goddammit. Now I've got a mental image of a Magical Girl inspired Freeza transforming to the tune of F. It's both glorious and terrifying.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
We have that interview from Toriyama saying that Buu was reincarnated almost instantly, but this was clearly a special case, given the manga noting that Enma had decided to honor Goku's request. Also, Buu is an immortal being from the dawn of the universe as of a few months ago, so there's that.Zephyr wrote:Well Kid Buu was reincarnated in less than 10 years. Though, one could reconcile this as having to do with Goku's explicit desire to fight him again influencing Enma's speeding up of the process.
Granted, the series doesn't say this, but the fact that the possibility exists allows there to be breathing room.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Addendum to my last post: I was always frustrated in how he was treated as a "joke" later on in the series with defeats with one punch and the heroes saying "you're out of our league now" despite him causing the greates shift in the story with SSJ. Not only that, he controlled an empire bigger than we ever saw in the series ever before or SINCE! He wasn't magical, he wasn't created, he was a ruler who subjugated everyone including Vegeta! Why should he be treated as a joke when he took out some of the strongest characters at that time. But most important was that he was believable! Compare that to Androids who can overpower aliens that Gero never even knew existed... C'mon... I do think Buu and Babidi don't fall short here either, but Freeza has "IT" over the like of Buu with multiple characteristics and character history that makes Freeza a much greater foe (and would have had the greatest and most fitting ending to DBZ where Goku wins AND loses by saving everyone in a sacrifice that he couldn't choose to make. The planet explodes and so ends two of the greatest fighters the universe has ever seen, power of legend and of demi-gods and both go down in legend; thus, the SSJ legend remains that, a legend for only Gohan witnessed it, passing it down through generations keeping the legend alive but never attained again... THAT IS THOUGHT PROVOKING!)

I love that Goku has a new gi but I don't like that it's still not the one he had at the end of the DB manga and Neko Majin Z.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
A lot of people, including me initially were very "wtf this is stupid" when we found out Freeza was the one being revived. However, the more I looked into it, the more I realized how perfect it is. We all knew the next movie would be about Vegeta, and what better way to have his own movie than have his archnemesis and the man who killed him be the antagonist?
Let's look at Battle Of Gods. Out of all things what was one of the things it served? To be Goku's movie. It furthered Goku's character development as he accepted he can't and won't always be the strongest, and despite his escapades, there are still beings with strength and power far beyond his own. While the movie also developed Vegeta to a great extent, seeing his newfound purpose and values on Earth, it was ultimately Goku who came to an acceptance and realization; recieving his own closure while opening a new world.
Vegeta swore he would be the next Super Saiyan God and from the events of BOG, I think we can all say he's pure enough to become one. Freeza was the one who molded him into twice the ruthless, evil and bitter warrior he became prior to meeting Goku. We saw in the Freeza arc the emotional trauma and suffering Freeza brought to him, but we never really dug deep enough into it. Plus Vegeta never got his revenge and poetic justice with Freeza. Goku defeated him and Trunks killed him (while both times should've been Vegeta but due to shonen and plot purposes he wasn't)
I can confidently say we can expect Vegeta to have a good deal of closure and character development in this movie as well as a climatic fight between him (as a Super Saiyan God no less) against Freeza.
Now Freeza as a villain. I actually LOVE this idea. This and the fact the tyrant is ALWAYS mentioned even far after his defeat strongly supports the theory that Toriyama wanted to end at the Freeza arc. (and that Cell more or less was perfected from Freeza's DNA and technically Freeza lived on through Cell)
Freeza was downgraded to minor threat by the main cast after more powerful threats showed up. However, the dude had a name, a weight carried to that name. He destroyed planets, hundreds we never even known about. He was easily and more than likely going to be chosen as Beerus' successor as God of Destruction. With Freeza being revived and from his aura on the poster, it's easy to conclude he will through some means obtain the deity powerup and be stronger than even Beerus.
Minor complaints: Krillin's bald again. Can this just be a promotional thing? I like him experimenting with his hair. As for everyone else's new designs: I dig them. Can't wait to see a more detailed and colorful render of Vegeta's new design.
Am I excited for this movie? Yes. Hopefully BoG's success in it's short limited theaterical run will convince Fox to go the extra mile and work with Funi for a full theater release this time. (Maybe a double feature with BoG in some theaters?)
That's my thoughts and opinions for now. I could go into more detail but this is way more than enough.

He beat Cell which is more then enough and if Goku&Vegeta didn't help him do it i'd say it was to much for someone like him so lets be happy the 2 stars of the story are central stage of this new arc.Zenkashuu wrote:Gohan's humiliation doesn't stop...

Clearly we're getting a trilogy of films here. Part 1 set up the 12 universes, part 2 will feature the defeat of Goku's clothes at the hands of a newly revived Freeza, and Part 3 will be about Goku traveling the eleven other universes in search of a tailor.Marco Polo wrote:I love that Goku has a new gi but I don't like that it's still not the one he had at the end of the DB manga and Neko Majin Z.

The good:
- Freeza is F back!!
- More Beerus and Whis.
- Vegeta's bigger role.
- Piccolo and Krillin seem to have a bigger role (please let Piccolo have a bigger fighting role, it's been too long since he had one)
The bad:
- Gohan's new look.
- The wait.

Looking at Frieza's aura you can tell he at least has some kind of god power.

It definitely looks more Goten then Gohan, and this movie has to be at least 3 years after BoG so it makes sense to see teen/preteen Goten.Doctor. wrote:That's not Yamcha, he's missing his scars.Scarz wrote:The only thing that really upsets me is that Krillin is bald again and Yamcha cut his hair...

I must be the only one happy at the innitial thought of a powerful Freeza. He totally deserves it. And you are totally on point! And yeah, in a way, Cell was kind of like a reincarnation of Freeza and if you look at how that arc ended, it still ended with a Goku sacrifice, something I think Toriyama initially wanted DBZ to end; at Freeza more or less and tried to re-use the idea in the Cell arc, only to be forced to continue even FURTHER. I think Toriyama wanted to end it that way: with a bang! Ironically, it ends with a revival of Goku, not his death! Wait! I just realised that Gohan's (If that is him) new outfit is a green tracksuit. Kinda makes me think of Goku's blue one from BoG. Awesome.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
I have a feeling that Freeza is going to use a wish to be immortal and none of the Z fighters can kill him now. I hope AT can pull this off without having the story feel like something you would read on Fan Fiction.net (No offense to the writers there, but most of stuff on that site is terrible in my opinion). I feel very 50/50 on this new. 50% of me is very happy and surprise to see Freeza back while the 50% of me hates the idea because the idea is full of plot holes. The Earth's Dragon Balls can wish back people if they have been dead less then a year. Freeza has been dead for at least 15 years by now.ParkerAL wrote:They pretty much have to make him as strong as a SSjG somehow in order for him to work as a villain, for reasons you've already touched on.Hellspawn28 wrote:I just hope they don't give Freeza a 5th form and make him as strong as a SSjG. That would be total fan wank and I would turn off the movie if they do that. Half of the people on Earth can easily beat Freeza now.
I guess AT will explain that some evil souls take longer to reincarnated. Goku give Freeza his own ki before thinking that Freeza can change his ways. So maybe Freeza has like %3 good inside of him while Kid Buu is 100% evil.
