Tenshinhan Question

Post by Drunken Master » Sat Sep 23, 2006 4:14 pm

I'm not going to lie, I know everything about him, but this question isn't really about him, but what he has to say in a particular part.

When he senses Freeza and Kold coming, what does the Viz manga read? Some translated manga says he senses Freeza and another power even greater, some say he senses just two great powers. I've seen it before, but I can't remember...Help?

Kaio-sama: "I'm...possible. It can't be...Freeza..."

Piccolo: "H-How could this be...?"

Vegeta: "Damn him...! Kakarrot, that coward! He didn't finish him off!

Yamcha: "A-Are you sure that Ki is Freeza's?!"

Bulma: "Huh? What?!"

Tenshinhan: "And it's not just one...there's another one with it..."

Chaozu: "Oh no..."

Damn, Duo! Just how much manga do you have, anyway?!

Nobody give me that look! He does this a lot. Are you flipping through pages when you come up with an answer, Duo, or have you simply read it so much that you've basically fused with Toriyama-sensei and don't have to?

(Finishes laughing)

I have all 42 Viz tankobon, and one of the Kanzenban (Vol. 16).

While I probably could've given a very close paraphrasing of Tenshinhan's line off the top of my head, but I actually just grabbed the Volume so I could type out a few surrounding lines just to clarify the context...

Oh, and I did fuse with Toriyama-sensei using the Metamorese dance during the great battle of Broku vs. Xicor, in which Douiyama was the true and final victor!

I am intrigued. ^_^ May I ask why you pose such a question?

Well, it was to see who was stronger, Kold or Freeza. But we'll never know really.

Freeza. He declares himself the mightiest in the universe with his father in his precense and King Cold shows no contestment.

Or he just let him say it because if he said or proved otherwise Freeza would throw a temper tantrum. And we don't want that to happen.

I am with Duo on this. If Kold was capable of more than Form 2, he would have begain his transformation as soon as Freeza was killed in Form 4. He had to try his luck with the sword, as he didn't believe Freeza could be beaten by a saiyan.

If Kold was stronger, why would he ask to use Trunk's sword?

He would have said something along the lines of:

"You cannot defeat me, I am even stronger than my son."

I doubt it. Either King Kold was just hiding his power (Guess he didn't want Freeza to somewhat turn on him) or he just doesn't need to.

And I thought I was creative.

So these Broku and Xicor guys were fighting, and you and the enlightened one decided to just get in their and kick both their asses?

Doesn't Freeza say that no one has ever hurt him besides his father? This is when Goku does something to really hurt him of course. Freeza is crazy evil, I wouldn't put it past him to kill his father, so why didn't he?

I think he was implying his childhood in that case. Eventually most powerful being in the universe or not, you're still gonna be at the mercy of your parents when you're a kid.

I don't think Freeza had any reason to kill Kold. Why would he, when Kold was just as evil as he was, and perfectly fine with letting him have fun conquering the Universe? In fact, I think there may have been some sorta thing going on where Freeza (and Cooler) did the conquering, and Kold got to sit back and do the governing.

That would be Freeza, according to the Daizenshû.

Freeza is a paranoid little tyrant. Compare him to Tony Montana of Scarface. Almost interaction dealing with Freeza involves death. Freeza mentioned something on Namek to Goku about not having a workout like that since his parent(s). I'm sure Freeza wouldn't think twice about killing his father if he could.

But not if he didn't have any reason to. That's my point. Even tyrants feel at least a little comradery with their family, especially when said family is perfectly, happy-go-lucky, zippity-doo-dah fine with what you're doing.

I agree, Kold was supportive of his son's actions. If your whole life your parent let you do what you wanted and even helped you, why would you have a reason to oppose them? We see that Kold fears his son a bit. He goes to the trouble to save him from the wreckage of Namek, and have him rebuilt by the very best doctors they have. Freeza turns after sitting up from the operating table and tells his father to set a course for earth. Kold questions his son once by saying something along the lines of "Whatever for?" Freeza gets mad and says he has payback or something. You see some fear or apprehension in Kold's eyes when he immediately orders the men to set the ship on its way towards earth.

I think it is also correct that Freeza (and Cooler) conquer and lead the combat on other planets. I think they also keep Kold around to govern where they've already been to ensure no one plots behind them where they don't go as often because they have already conquered.

Plus, Kold saved Freeza's life. He was near death in space and would have died without assistance. If Kold were going to betray his own son, he could have done it then. Freeza has a loyal father, one that he even jokes around with during combat. Freeza has no reason to not keep Kold alive, he is a valuable ally to him.
