Fanmanga - Dragon Ball New Age
Re: Fanmanga - Dragon Ball New Age
I'm still following this too.
For me the Aladjinn stuff is way more interesting since it's relatively new ground compared to "yet another SSJ powerup" fanfiction style stuff you normally see. And the art is great all around.

I'll be resuming the Aladjinn Saga in no time. I have a lot of redraws to do but they should be done soon if all goes well.mAcChaos wrote:I'm still following this too.

I'll take that under advisement.dbzfan7 wrote:Rather than De-transforming I'd say Rigor's power should just suddenly feign due for the same reason it did in the first cut, just have it lower to a point he can actually survive the finale BBK, cause dropping to base form and surviving a blast that is over 15x stronger than him was silly last time.
I meant it to be a bit of both. Rigor, by the numbers and stats my guys and i have come up with alone, is around 30, 000 times stronger than Super perfect Cell at this point. Let's for one second take Cell's word for it and believe that he is capable of wiping out the solar system (which I believe is true. Toriyama wouldn't have had him say it if he didn't mean it). Rigor is capable of generating 30, 000 times that much devastation if he doesn't control his Final Revenge Cannon properly. The size of our Solar System x 30, 000 is a good chunk of the galaxy.xmysticgohanx wrote:Is Rigor's galaxy busting a boast or a reputable statement?

Yeah I don't care how unrealistic it is, if Cell says he can bust the solar system, then he can do it.

I'm looking forwards to it as well.Malik_DBNA wrote: To be honest, I am REALLY looking forward to that arc. Next to the World Tournament, that has been my favorite arc to plot out. It's going to be such a departure from anything that has been done in Dragon Ball. Assassins and killers have been sent to recover Dragon Balls and such before, but the goal of the Bounty Hunters in that arc has NEVER been done before.
Are you going to get into how them being mercenary bounty hunters actually works? Honestly, that is what would distinguish them. It's just a job, so they'd be less interested in being evil for the sake of the evils, but still completely ruthless, I suppose. The economics of it are sort of interesting too if you think about it. Normal economic paradigms break down when you think about there being tiers of strength where one level of being is untouchable by lower ones. It's not like that at all in real life.
For example, I always found the Freeza thing interesting. So... you are the most powerful being in the North Galaxy, and should be able to take whatever you like in terms of resources, yet in actuality there's some thing you want that you can only get by trading planets? This has implications. It could be that there is somebody equally strong (or at least a credible threat) more or less controlling the resources you want, but they want planets. Perhaps they want living space for their race, in return for them giving Freeza the only store of minerals that allows his ships to travel as fast as they do, for just one example. Or maybe the people he's trading with are weaker but are the only ones able to make something he wants, kind of like with the Dragonballs. Then again, he had no qualms about just going might makes right on the Nameks...
Going into loads of detal isn't really important for a Dragonball story, of course, and would totally bog things down, but it would be nice for subtle worldbuilding sake's if these bounty hunters get paid in something special at least. Makes things feel a bit fuller even if you don't fully see them.
"Here's some space-dollars!" doesn't really cut it. The concept of money totally breaks down if you are a ruthless person stronger than 99.999...% of things in the universe, and you can just get everything you want by force from one of the uncountable planets populated by weaklings. At that point, the guy paying you has to have something A: really special and rare and super amazing that you can't get anywhere else easily, and B: have a way to prevent you just taking it by force (or stopping you from forcing them to make it).
Something to think about.
I suppose it depends on whether we are talking a plain spherical explosion or what exactly. A light year is about 1000-2000 times the distance to Pluto (NOT A PLANET BZZZ), roughly speaking from aphelion to perihelion. If you are talking a sphere that big, an increase of 1000 times in the radius of a sphere requires a multiplication of 1000,000,000 in volume.Malik_DBNA wrote:The size of our Solar System x 30, 000 is a good chunk of the galaxy.
Not knocking Rigor, of course. I-I'm sure h-he c-can do it...
Re: Fanmanga - Dragon Ball New Age
You already had a good enough reason for him weakening, but de-transforming was too much I'd say. Going by power levels you set up it's pretty unrealistic he survived last time. He could simply feel a strain that takes a chunk of his power and it starts dropping fast from the after effect, so he's overcome, but at the same time it's not as obvious how much weaker he was than Gogeta when the BBK hits him. Kinda like how we don't know how strong the Genki-Dama was when it hit Vegeta, we have no frame of reference so we can't really argue with it. You had a frame of reference for us so there's an idea of the gap in power. If he remains in SSJ5, but is strained and weakening, we can't actually tell how much power he lost, so we can't know how much damage he took and at what gap. So it's up to the imagination really how much of a difference in power Rigor had to survive.Malik_DBNA wrote:I'll take that under advisement.dbzfan7 wrote:Rather than De-transforming I'd say Rigor's power should just suddenly feign due for the same reason it did in the first cut, just have it lower to a point he can actually survive the finale BBK, cause dropping to base form and surviving a blast that is over 15x stronger than him was silly last time.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

That's totally excellent, but is the panel of Gogeta going "HAA!" unchanged just out of interest?

Actually, it has been changed, but the alterations are minor. A side by side comparison will show the differenceRegarder wrote:That's totally excellent, but is the panel of Gogeta going "HAA!" unchanged just out of interest?

Re: Fanmanga - Dragon Ball New Age
Your artwork is great but I wish you would not take original panels for the battles as inspiration or not that "direct" because you are so skilled you definitely can do everything without that stuff. Some of those panels are too much vol. 35. Especially the second panel with Rigot at this angle seems so much like Cell when he thinks Gohan has lost it. It could be a coincidence but the next few panels remind much of it as well so I guess it is intended.

I think Malik has improved a lot with that with each update. More panels in the past were copies than now.

I appreciate you noticing. I have been making a conscious effort to not reference as many panels as I used to. I feel I have enough of a comfortable grasp of Toriyama's style to do the stuff without referencing as much as I did beforeRegarder wrote:I think Malik has improved a lot with that with each update. Having only just found this fan manga a few days ago and pretty much catching up to where it is now. I must say that you've done a great job every page hooked me and made me want to read on. (To the point I nearly was late back to work) you've captured the dragon ball feel very well and I just wanted to say well done and I look forward to reading more

Does Revival of F happen in New Age or does New Age ignore it?

Re: Fanmanga - Dragon Ball New Age
I'm going to guess that Malik has no idea exactly what he's doing in regards to Revival of "F", simply because we basically know nothing about it right now.
As someone doing their own fan project, I won't have any inkling of what I'm doing with it in regards to mine until a Kanzenshuu summary comes out (whether that be if/when Kei gets into an advanced screening, or when him and Julian go see it at release).

Re: Fanmanga - Dragon Ball New Age
Pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one. I really have no idea until we get a summary to see what, if anything, has occurred or changed in the central story.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I'm going to guess that Malik has no idea exactly what he's doing in regards to Revival of "F", simply because we basically know nothing about it right now.

In all likelihood, if not much changes and it can easily be integrated into the story without much hassle (like Majin Boo's origin or BoG), then it will be included. This is my hopeful option because I really want to include all the canon elements in the story. However, in the off-chance that integrating it would cause a large amount of revamps and hassle, then I may choose to ignore it.
Thank you very muchKurosakinelo wrote:Having only just found this fan manga a few days ago and pretty much catching up to where it is now. While most of these rewamps improve the art and feeling, (when i tried comparing i thought 9/10 did, while occasionally i liked the older better), I'm wondering if you've set a schuedle for when you'll be continuing the story of DBNA?
