Is it ever really mentioned that Goku's takeover on Earth was Freeza's intent? Also, what ever happened to the buyers of planet earth. After about 20 years, one would believe they would get very impatient.

Well, many Saiyajin babies were launched into space so I don't think Freeza knew where everyone was going exactly. I also do believe that the planet doesn't go up for sale before the original inhabitants are killed and the planet is taken over by the Saiyajin in question.

Yeah. Sure.
If Dragonball wasn't that popular, and Toriyama still made the series as they look now, no Daizenshuu had been made to say that Tenshinhan is an alien and no videogames to "back it up" either.
If "Dragon Ball" hadn't been that popular, chances are it would have ended far earlier, and Gokû would have never been an alien either. 'Seems kinda pointless to go there.
It's like, I can give someone permission to write a sequel to one of my books, and I can bless the outcome, but still there may be some mistakes (factual errors).
So mistakes are factual errors after all? When did that change?

But I'm sure Freeza would have to have known at least some sort of information about a planet that would be taken over, especially by the saiyans who he was cautious about (Well at least during Bardock's time, anyway).

I can't see how anyone can compare the legitimacy of the Daizenshuu to the filler-filled Dragon Ball(Z) anime. It's just plain ridiculous.

Sorry, but you don't need written or said proof to show that Yamcha couldn't beat Reccome, because it's backed by common sense. It's filler, it doesn't have to make sense, and you don't have to have proof to negate it. Yamcha beat up Olibu (sp? On another note, who actually cares? He's filler!) and some other dude at the same time. Pikkon had to actually try a little to beat Olibu. Does that mean Yamcha is somehow pretty strong? Even though he didn't train for seven years and his power level should have dropped significantly? No. Yamcha is worth crap in the Buu saga, power-wise. He's still pretty cool otherwise.

Vegeta couldn't harm Reccome. Yamcha wasn't up there that long. There's NO WAY that Yamcha could have touched Reccome, and it isn't even debatable because it never happened. You don't use filler for debates, so why use it as backup to try to kill the Daizenshuu's legitimacy? It doesn't make much sense.

In my fanon, people get weaker when they go to filler Hell.

As for Yamcha beating Olibu... yeah, I'm going with the Olibu wasn't trying theory.

Yes, I like to try to explain filler because I'm more familiar with the anime.

The other fighter from earth that Gokuh meets at the filler-tastic Other World Tournament. He's at least 10 feet tall, doesn't wear pants, and has long flowing golden locks. Seriously though, I actually liked that arc.

(Hey, Bura! ^^)

Random question: Do power levels actually drop if you stop training for a while, or do they become "stagnant?"

Wow, I completely don't remember Olibu at all... ><

Er, where exactly are we in the discussion?

Ah, ok! Thanks. ^^ +is such a bad fan+ I don't doubt you at all, but I am interested where it's said in the series?

---

I think the shift toward sci-fi elements in the latter half of DB is very interesting. We know Mr. Toriyama was asked by his editors to continue writing DB, and in an article about the domestic Shonen Jump Launch party at Chelsea Piers (it was in the March 2003 issue of SJ,) Toriyama was answer to if he'll ever create more DB was that "10 ten years really was my limit," and even at the three-year mark he was beginning to push it.

Aliens is a fun way to explain Son Goku's tail, and Piccolo's origins (tied in with the Dragon Balls themselves,) while diverging from the story's root in The Journey to the West. But, early on was Piccolo Daimaou based on Eastern mythology of demons?

Does early DB + Dr. Slump wacky style = characters with odd characteristics (such as, three-eyes)

(I hope I don't sound as brain-farted as I feel... If my post doesn't make sense, please forgive me.. XD;;;)

I don't understand that statement, but it seems like you're trying to say that your always right...
Godo wrote:Well, I think that Vegeta and Nappa probably made some
research about the Dragonballs before starting to look for them. That sounds logical as Vegeta (not Nappa) seem to be a smart guy.
Vegeta probably found out the location of planet Namek, the strenght of the people there, the dragonballs and the quantity of the population as a plan B. So that's how they knew what Piccolo was.
Their primary objectives were to have revenge on Radditz, and punish Goku for his foolishness. Then, as a plus, they could get immortal and kill Freezer.
Vegeta isn't smart. Also, Vegeta nor Nappa gave a damn about Raditz death. Also, even if they became immortal, it would mean nothing. They couldn't be killed, but there's no way that they could kill Freeza. Infact, Freeza would make Vegeta and Nappa welcome death by beating them senseless. Freeza would have enjoyed that a little too much. More than caressing his dragon balls.

We're talking about the babies here. I don't think Freeza cared too much for them, because he would've gone after them when he destroyed planet Vegeta and killed all the Saiyajin. It could even be that Freeza simply forgot about them. Remember, it was Raditz(Goku's brother, so he knew of his existence) that had come looking for Goku, not Freeza or one of his henchmen.

Vegeta was smart. A sadistic, arrogant ass, but still intelligent.

To paraphrase Vegeta about becoming immortal "I'll beat you Freeza. I'll wear you down and eventually I'll become stronger than you."

Gohan in the Buu Saga is stated several times to be much weaker than his Cell Games self, since he sat on his ass for seven years.
Vegeta isn't smart.
Maybe not genius smart, but he's quite clever, especially on Namek.

The Zenkai is what Vegeta was counting on. Vegeta figured Freeza would beat him down several times, but with the huge Zenkais he'd be getting from those beatdowns, Vegeta would eventually become stronger.
