I guess since you guys just came back from a con, you're not going to MangaNEXT, huh?

GAAAH! My voice is so high-pitched in my email! :x Thanks for playing and answering my question. (Yeah, Jersey! X3 )

Looks like Genki Dama wasn't as original as I thought for a Mr. Satan attack. I'd give him the power to "Kick Ass Kung-Fu" Bush and Bruce Lee's asses. 1) It'd be funny as hell, and 2) um... it's Bush!

Yeah, I just came back from Wired NextFest. There was a virtual reality game ("Kick Ass Kung-Fu") where you could fight Bruce Lee, and Bush if you made it to level three. :D
What's scarier than a DBZ H-game?

As for the contest. I didn't enter it because I don't really care to own Super DBZ. I would have given Mr.Satan Buu's candy beam. While not as efficient as turning people into carrots just by touching them, it would give him variety in what he could turn his enemies into.

LOL! I was going to use the carrot attack for the contest but the more I thought about it the more I considered it a "Passive" Ki technique, I knew I should've used it! So I went with the Ki attack that Bojack's crew uses to ensnare and drain people's energy. Not the greatest but I thought that he would show off and act like all of his opponents were too scared to fight him and fainted.

AnimeNEXT's evil clone, sworn to destroy AnimeNEXT and take over the otaku world, with Naruto, OP & DB filler taking over Fuji TV's animme block.

Oh good, now I feel better that I wasn't the only person who was weirded out by Trunks' outta nowhere Masenko. This was a fun list, so good job on that one Meri. Also, you guys forgot to mention that after Krillin makes his little remark, the scene cuts to King Kai talking about how it's not his, but rather Frieza's version of it from before he de-legged/armed.

AWA sounds pretty cool, I checked out the official site to it while I was listening in. Judging the movies with Monical Rial must've been fun. I've seen her at almost every other con I've been too and she's really nice. Also congrats to Sean Powers for winning the game :0

MangaNEXT is, as the name implies, all about manga as opposed to anime. It's mostly going to focus on a manga reading library, a manga swap meet, manga panels, and manga industry guests. There will only be one anime video room, and of course, a cosplay. It's looking to be a nice, small, intimate event. A pretty low-key thing, I hope.

Gasp, a Rocko's Modern Life fan!

Anyways, this podcast was pretty average for me, though I must say that I enjoyed the little mini-story of how you got daizenshuu 7 and immediately called Julian about it .

Darn, I lost the contest. But at least my move wasn't from that pie chart list. I figured you guys were looking for something original, so I leafed through the first couple DB manga and that beam technique that Devil uses against Goku in the Baba Saga. I never woulda thought that Boss Rabbit's move required any kind of ki :x!

After weeks upon weeks of resisting, I have finally bitten the bullet and registered for the forum! I'm telling you, this week's podcast just compelled me to do it!

Long time listener, first time poster, perhaps you saw me out of the corner of your eye while at Otakon or (most recently) AWA. Yeah, I'm *that* guy. The one that JBone likes to make disparaging remarks about on another certain message board. I actually entered my Spriggan video for AnimeNEXT last year, and I was surprised when I found out that video was in a 3-way tie for 2nd place. I'm a great admirer of your AMVs.

Anyway, about AWA... I felt uncharacteristically shy at AWA, especially around other editors, but the weekend was all good. I myself bought a bunch of stuff at AWA in the dealer's room, not the least of which were a bunch of DBZ DVDs. I am in possession of Movies 7-13 (I already got 7 & 9, the Broly 3-pack I got for $20, and 12 & 13 for $17 each), as well as the Trunks DVDs (103-105 and 106-110). Again, your podcast compelled me to buy them!

I think I mentioned quickly at Otakon that this podcast has made me appreciate DBZ a lot more. This is coming from someone who superficially hated DBZ! I discovered at AWA that a lot of other people still love DBZ. They might not be as obvious as you and Meri are, but they still love DBZ. One person regaled to me stories about how he found DBZ one day during college while flipping through channels, and how he and his frat buddies eventually made DBZ appointment television at 5:30 every day.

You also mentioned some wonderful fan you picked out for one of the AMV games during Iron Editor. He actually found me after Iron Editor and we chatted for a good 20-30 minutes. His name is Nick and he lives in Florida. This was his first convention for him, and he was so stoked to have been chosen for the AMV game. You asked him, "So what do you wanna win?" And Nick answered "EVERYTHING!" and right there and then you chose him. That was so cool. He really has been a fan of your site (and Meri's site) for many, many years. I'm hoping Nick also becomes a member of this website too.

In closing, AWA was a blast for the most part. It was a bummer after the con to discover that everybody's planes got delayed getting out of Atlanta. Mine didn't leave until 1am. AWA, however, will still be on my "must-go-to" list of conventions; I've already pre-registered for next year and reserved my hotel room.

You made a great podcast this week, as usual. I hope this podcast will compel others out there like me to come out of the woodwork and finally join the forums. Keep up the excellent work.
- J

Yay for the podcast, and Daizenshuu 7. And I got my question answered, hooray!

I believe its Bulma and chibi Trunks singing in the background of "Vegeta's Cooking Hell".

Out of curiousity how far away do you have to be to battle via DS?

Damn you, VegetoEX! I'm listening to the podcast right now and I just got through the part where you were playing samples of the Japanese music for the game! Now I am no longer ignorant of how cool it would be to play the game with the Japanese music. My bliss has been ruined.

I must now buy a Japanese PS2. Damn you!

Since i have been away these recent days i havent got a chance to listen to the podcast until now.

Poor Julian, was waked up early on Saturday because Mikle got Daizenshuu #7. Thats priceless! :D Congratulations on getting it Mike! Damn, anime conventions sounds like so much fucking fun! I wish there was any conventions where i lived but anime is not that well known here in Norway, they're not even done releasing all volumes of DB, they're up to volum 32.

I enjoyed Meri's list this week. Damn, those Dbz warriors steal a lot of stuff, it was so sweet of Goku to apologise to Tenshinhan tough an Kamesenin using 50 years developing Kamehameha and Goku learning it right of the bat, thats priceless! I dont remember when Tenshinhan and Chao Zu used Kamehameha, looking at the screencaps for this episode i see that Tenshinhan really did use Kamehameha but when the hell did Chao Zu use Kamehameha?

Speaking of Meri, her site has been updated, OMG the world is ending!
Currently playing: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii), Jump Ultimate Stars (DS).
Currently obsessed with: Death Note, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Busou Renkin

I have a question about your Top 5....didn't Gohan originally rip the Masenko off of Piccolo. In Viz Manga when Gohan first uses it against Nappa under the panel it says "Piccolo's Signature move"-ed. Yet we never acctually see Piccolo use a Masenko any time before Gohan does in the Canon or Non-canon world. What's up with that?

Yeah, Piccolo never actually uses it. It's one of those things that we're led to infer for ourselves. The "Ma" in "Masenko" is the same "Ma" from "Daimao" (and thus "Ma Junior"). I'm not sure what the daizenshuu may say about its origins.

Oh, ok. Thanks.

Oh, about Cell using the Kienzan....in the Dub Cell accutally says "Kienzan Disks" when firing it. Then it's Krillin who says "Is that my move"....then King Kai says "no,no, that's the final move that Freeza used".

Oh, & what was that thing that you were talking about in the E-Mails....that singing & cooking with Vegeta....what the heck was that?

Hurray for the dub being absolutely braindead!

"Bejîta-sama no O-ryôri Jigoku!! ~"Okonomiyaki" no Kan~" ("Lord Vegeta's Cooking Hell!!: "Okonomiyaki" Recipe"). It's an in-character image song performed by Ryo Horikawa on DBZ Hit 8, the second of two character specials.

It's also a brand-spankin'-new con. This is it's first year, so it's probably going to be pretty small, even compared to AnimeNEXT, which was pretty small.
