Those images both looks really creepy.Avenged wrote:I still think DBZ can be done live action, *sigh* hopefully one day. But it is amazing to see artwork like this to get my hopes up!
James Wong likes Dragon Ball, he just sucks at story telling. The guy give us movies like Final Destination, Jet Li's The One, Final Destination 3 and the 2006 remake of Black Christmas. Did anyone look at this guy's track record before hiring him?Lord Beerus wrote:Those image both looks really creepy.Avenged wrote:I still think DBZ can be done live action, *sigh* hopefully one day. Honestly, I think a live action Dragon Ball movie wouldn't work unless it has a big, and I mean big, budget. Like 175-200 million dollars. It would need a director that actually genuinely likes Dragon Ball or at least gives a shit to do some research on it. But most importantly, the movie rights need to be bought by another movie/entertainment media company.
And this comes all the way back to 20th Century Fox. The company that hired this director, knowing what his track record is. That was the first major red flag for me when I first heard the news of that. The second major red flag was the actors chose. Justin Chatwin as Son Goku? One of the most likable and popular fictional Asians characters to ever grace the West is no an young American adult? No, thanks. The clincher was the setting. A what period was the film meant to be set? It seem likes it set in the city but at same time Roshi's small island is not to far from the shore of the city. But why is Teen Goku taking on Demon King Piccolo? Why is only 1/3 of the Pilaf Gang there? Why is Bulma an adult not a teenager? Where's Krillin? Where's Oonlong? Why is Goku going to high school?Hellspawn28 wrote:James Wong likes Dragon Ball, he just sucks at story telling. I don't think they would need to do slow-mo cut for the fight scenes like in 300. It can work in real time, but, like I said previously, it would need a big budget to do so though.dae428 wrote:Lord Beerus,
You know what? I completely forgot about the Man of Steel movie. One thing I do think is that since the action in Dragon Ball Z is much fast paced than Man Of Steel, they would probably have to do a couple of slow-mo cuts ala 300, but in regular time if you know what I mean. I feel it would actually be really interesting for something like the Saiyan arc or the Cell arc. I still can't see it working for Dragon Ball or the Boo arc of Dragon Ball Z though since the cartooniness of the arcs would be really awkward in live action, unless they did something similar to style of Stephan Chow, but even then it wouldn't work the more serious arcs of Dragon Ball Z. Meh, there always has to be changes when making a movie anyways right?

Street Fight Legacy was awesome. But only worked so well as it did because Street Fighter as a whole is way less cartoonish than Dragon Ball. So capturing the essence of Street Fighter in live action is made much easier Not that being cartoonish makes a live action Dragon Ball movie impossible but it makes it a little more difficult.Hellspawn28 wrote:Dragon Ball can work in live action if you do changes to it. Changes are going to happen as long they are done right. If Street Fighter Legacy was able to pull off Street Fighter better then any of the two SF live action movies did then I don't see why DBZ can't?
