That's our Bojack. Seriously this is feeling like a sitcom now.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

So who thought this was a good idea again?
Some shithead.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Oh yeah, and instead of being an ability by species, something like a transformation can be given to you if you drink the right medicinal cocktail. That's stupid, Bojack's transformation should have been augmented by the steroids, not this!

We've never had something like that in Dragon Ball, but it's not like this is something we haven't had in other fictional material before.

I hope there's more information to learn here, and the rest of this chapter isn't just Bojack slaughtering all who don't appear in the Bojack movie, and then killing Polar. So far, we've learned that Bojack and the lot were experiments, they originally had powerlevels that weren't that impressive (I'm not sure here. They could have been using different numbers. The scientist says that one of them is already as strong as Cold, so maybe it's just a different number system), and that the experiments have had more of an effect on Bojack, and he's either going to just power up here, or transform.

Yeah, it's one of the most common fantasy tropes, from Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to Greek mythology, etc. I don't see how it's stupid. If anything it makes more sense than humanoid species having a natural ability to transform their physical appearances back and forth.

Bear in mind that you are saying that this makes more sense on a universe where it has been established that everyone and their grandmas can transform willy-nilly. From Oolong to Mutenroshi, from Ten Shin-Han to Piccolo, from Zarbon to Freeza, Cell, #13, #17, Broli and so on. If anything, this makes less sense in this universe. But what do I know.

For all we know, the transformation could be something innate to his species, but he only was able to reach it after the experiments allowed him to unlock that ability. There's no real problem in any case.

I don't really understand why people would want Bojack's transformation to just be a silly rip-off of turning Super Saiyan like in the movie. It always seemed to me like an unnatural mutant transformation

I really hope this special doesn't waste time on a protracted massacre like so many others before it...

That's exactly what I'm saying. When I said "humanoid species" in my post I was referring to the humanoid species from "Oolong to Mutenroshi, from Ten Shin-Han to Piccolo, from Zarbon to Freeza, Cell, #13, #17, Broli and so on."

Well, assuming they can't sense powers, that is the obvious thing to home in on.

Not even this special can make me like Bojack. Bojack is a villain that could have been cool and end up being lame. I like the idea of a gang of space pirates but they came off so boring and generic. Nothing about Bojack is new that we haven't seen before him.
