Pui Pui

Post by Dayspring » Tue Jan 20, 2004 10:17 pm

The answer is probably "no", but in case the anime says otherwise I'm going to ask. Is Pui Pui a member of Freeza's race in their third form?

lol, you have a good eye for details. I asked the same thing when I first saw that episode. Their's no clear answer one way or the other, but I would assume no. Aside from his character design, their's nothing else to support the idea, and you can see Toriyama reuses many types of features for drawing generic aliens. That one red guy in the afterlife tournament looks a helluva lot like Cell.

I went back and checked out more pictures of Pui Pui, and I was almost convinced he was a changling in 3rd form, until I noticed one little detail.

He wears boots. Changlings always have 3 toes per foot, no matter what form, and never wear boots. Freeza, King Cold, and Cooler are never shown wearing boots. Either because they don't like footwear, or their feet shape won't fit in conventional boots.

Hence, Pui Pui isn't a changling.

I checked the daizenshuu as well. Freeza's race described him as a "polymorphic extra-terrestrial" whereas Pui Pui (or "Bui Bui" in french. ) was described as "an inhabitant of the planet Zoun".

Hmmm, "polymorphic extra-terrestrial". Sounds like the name for a band! :P

Another obvious one: Puipui's name doesn't fit in with the "cold" theme. :D

True, but King Cold looked different than Freeza's first+second form so scheme isn't necessarily consistant. I ignored the name thing in case they were just different families or something.
