Beers said in the previous film Gokuu would be unable to defeat Freeza in his normal form. Continuing my theory, I'm betting Freeza's first three forms are ignored and he only transforms from his fourth to his new form.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
There should be no reason for him to have his first 3 forms. Despite being mechanical at the time, he died in his true form and should be resurrected as such. He shouldn't have any reason to transform back down again either, so if we see the other forms, it should be in flashbacks to his terrible days on Namek.JulieYBM wrote:Continuing my theory, I'm betting Freeza's first three forms are ignored and he only transforms from his fourth to his new form.

Do you think that Kaioken is going to get retconned then?JulieYBM wrote:Beers said in the previous film Gokuu would be unable to defeat Freeza in his normal form. 'Retconned' in comparison to what? Kaiou-ken will continue to be where Kaiou-ken is...it simply might not be in the film. I can't see Toriyama remembering Kaiou-ken but it isn't like Yamamuro can't toss the technique into the storyboard. I doubt Toriyama writes the battles in detail. Even then it isn't like his story treatments aren't then re-written into scripts.singsing wrote:Do you think that Kaioken is going to get retconned then?

In regards to wanting to see a trailer:
Since Jump Festa is now roughly two weeks away, do you think we'll get a trailer this week, next week, or the Friday before Jump Festa?
I can't imagine they'd wait until after JF; it's the biggest promotional vehicle for Jump there is.

This movie has made me think. Do Goten and Trunks even know who Freeza is?
I wonder if anybody ever told them about the battle on Namek, I would feel suprised but not too much so if they didn't know.

A trailer at Jump Festa is possible, but unlikely I feel. Though I suppose it depends on how far along the animation is at this point - as in, do they have enough content to make a trailer from?.Chuquita wrote:In regards to wanting to see a trailer:

I don't think it has to be that far along for them to put out a trailer. The footage used in the first BOG trailer was unfinished in parts, and they used a couple of clips that weren't even featured in the final film (Perhaps they were whipped up quickly specifically for the trailer?).DBZ_Lee wrote:A trailer at Jump Festa is possible, but unlikely I feel. In 2012, we first saw a preview of the BOG trailer on the 7th of December and since we're mostly following the BOG schedule of events, then I'd say we can expect to see something as early as the end of this week.
I'd say it's pretty likely that they'll screen the trailer at Jump Festa, but I'm almost certain that we'll see it before hand. In 2012, the BOG trailer was "leaked" early on the 11th. It was then officially released 21st.

Anyone think this movie will be more or less successful than Battle of Gods in Japan at the box office?
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Sadly, probably less. I don't think the movie added any new fans and then old ones were watching because ~^~HYPEEEE~^~ first new movie and all. Profits will probably settle with this movie.Bullza wrote:Anyone think this movie will be more or less successful than Battle of Gods in Japan at the box office?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I guess it really depends. As has already been mentioned, Battle of Gods was the first theatrical film in over a decade, so I'm sure a lot of people, maybe even those who aren't really into the franchise anymore, may have gone to see it. Another movie so soon could put some people off though, with this one not feeling as such a special occasion. Though, with it involving Freeza, it could generate curiosity of what will be done with such an iconic character resurrection from the original author himself.
I kinda feel like it's hard to tell right now if these will help or hurt it. May need a bit more information before I can throw out a proper two cents on the matter.

Nah, Battle of Gods turn out great and I think people are up for me. Battle of Gods was #1 for like three weeks in Japan most likely because good word of mouth and DBZ is still popular over in Japan. Not to mention we have Freeza back too. Freeza is The Joker of Dragon Ball, having a iconic villain coming back will bring in viewers for sure in Japan. Japan has more nostalgia to the franchise then we do since they had Dragon Ball for 30 years while DBZ is not even 20 years old yet in America.Bullza wrote:Anyone think this movie will be more or less successful than Battle of Gods in Japan at the box office?

I'd need to see the trailer first, or at least be given a summary that explains the poster's mysteries.

I personally still think they'll still be able to go SSJ in the movie, as Goku is a SSJ in the teaser trailer, which yes I realize mean next to nothing, but still, I think maybe they won't need it anymore, or it'll be worthless.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Yeah, Battle of Gods being the first movie in 17 years gives it a big advantage over this movie so it'll need to make up for somehow.
One advantage that this movie does have over Battle of Gods is that it's going to be in 3D so it'll benefit from the higher priced tickets. I don't think this movie is going to have IMAX screenings though but I'd imagine the 3D would be to a higher advantage.
Maybe if they promote it more and release it in more theatres it'll help. It also opens a lot closer to Golden Week so it should get off to a stronger start.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Think this movie could do better for a theater release in the States if it gets proper treatment.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
They just need to be smart with it because under the right circumstances the movie could make a decent amount worldwide. They should bring the movie out internationally a lot sooner than with Battle of Gods, no later than 2015 and preferably before the subbed version hits the internet.
There's other countries that the movie could be released in like UK, France and especially China. Then just give it a wider release, not massive but more than just a limited release in a small amount of theatres.
If they really went for it then $100 million worldwide would not be impossible.
