The Dragon Ball Discross game will be available to be played at arcades and electronic shops in Japan beginning on December 24. By using even one of the Discross toys that can be purchased from the capsule machines positioned around the arcade console, the game can be played for free. Each disc contains a different character from Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga and anime adaptations.
Each Discross can be purchased for 100 yen (about US 83¢), and will be sold early at the Jump Festa event on December 20 and 21.

"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

There is nothing redeeming about that animation (and I will cry if Revival of F looks anything like that)...
But I am curious about the silhouette behind Freeza, Cell and Buu...

That was some ugly animation.
And I still strongly dislike the whole "Dragon Ball characters as pokémon or yugioh cards".

I'd have more of a problem with it if they treated the DB stories as entirely fictional within said universe.
Heroes, with Victory Mission, is basically using the game to memorialize real events and characters of the past though, as well as creating new, fictional content based off those real characters.

For an arcade game, the animation is the least priority. Of course Toei is not going to give their best resources on animation for games, given how busy they have been this year, and Fukkastu no F is on their plate right now.

Seeing how 90% of it was still frames being slid around, it should have at least matched the quality of the Heroes commercials in terms of the characters being on model (even considering ROF). Especially for the first video, to leave at least a mediocre impression. This was just horrible.

The fuck is this?
The animation was awful, Gotenks inexplicably has part of his Heroes GT outfit, and the game looks like Yu-Gi-Oh.

The drawings look like Ide Takeo's older style... is that a stretch?
Also, young Gotenks with brown gloves? Dafuq?

It's just someone getting confused while coloring after the introduction of GT Gotenks. He never has details of the gloves, just hands and wristbands that are colored incorrectly.
It's weird though. That's for sure. xD

Why this when we still have Heroes? Hopefully this game really has something new to offer, though the silhouette of the villain got me interested

If one games makes a lot of money, two games will
most likely divide the fanbase/be ignored make twice the amount! Capitalism!
I honestly don't know. This looks like it's built upon the same base product as Marvel Disk Wars. Perhaps that hasn't performed up to their pleasing and now they're trying to recoup their R&D investment with a more recognizable Japanese brand? Maybe they're under the impression that Kai and the new films are driving overall consumer interest to support two hobby games?

The game, like all the others, has it's own real world promotional characters.
Not 100% on the translations, but it seems like we have Discross Analyzer Jiso on the left, and "Master of Dis-kungfu"(?) Kabu'sennin on the right...not that they matter. xD

Those Dicross mascots look so bad they make Heroes' mascots look good by comparison. @_@
Tri-colored hair? Kamesennin knock-off? Why? @_@
