If Toriyama can find a good way to do away with transformations (or at least additional ones), I say more power to him. It would give him more time to focus on a good story, with less time spent explaining how all of this new power came to be.

Regarding Freezer's stomach, I posted this earlier in this topic:

I don't think it's wrongly coloured. I think it's the sign of Freeza being in God form. Goku also had "wrongly coloured" boots in BoG when in God form, for some reason.

I feel like he already tried to go in that direction with Gohan back in the Buu Arc at the peak of his power not even needing to transform.
It seemed logical, that Goku and Vegeta would try to do that, given SS3's massive drawbacks.
BoG has given them the possibility of doing that with SS God, though I'd prefer that they needed to transform to SS God, rather than being capable of "absorbing its power" like Goku did, which I find to be a load of bull.

What makes no sense from a writing point of view is that Goku hates that he had to use other people's power in order to do the SSG ritual, yet when the ritual wears off he gets to keep everyone's power anyway. So now Goku will forever be stuck with a power that he got by cheating.

Who inadvertently created a large team of prior enemies or disinterested bystanders through his charming character? Who stupidly let people go for selfish reasons, with said people later becoming great allies? Who set the stage for creating Saiyan human hybrids? All Goku. Obviously a ton of other characters played key roles in a lot of this as well, but it wouldn't have likely happened in a way that gave us the status quo seen at the end of the Buu arc/beginning of BoG; the same status quo that brought the form to light and fruition. The Super Saiyan God form is like the ultimate payoff for everything Goku's done.

It's a great theory but I really doubt Toriyama thought about it.

It is, however, the kind of retrospective that I could have seen GT do, especially near the end of the series.

My problem with that is always if that were the case then where the hell does Future Trunks' alternate timeline fit exactly? Are parallel worlds actually a sub division of universe kind of like a galaxy? Does each timeline have their own unique diety a step down from a god of destruction that manages it? Seriously, I'm really confused.
