I'm all for this. The Z-era is basically built around assumptions of power with few actual feats of strength to back them, there's no way out of it at this point. To let Whis deliberately keep that going as a running gag is fine by me. What would Whis really give us? Dragon Ball characters have not fought relative to how strong we're supposed to believe they actually are since the Cell arc at the
very least.

Everything about it just seems too generic right now; bringing back an old villain, new transformation, lots of fighting, etc. I'm expecting a big twist from Toriyama that really defies everyone's expectations. It's still early days, but I'm looking forward to seeing what they have in-store for us in the new year.
This too. This movie is a fanfiction story, but Battle of Gods, on its barest details, was only so much better, really. If we really are back to truly disposable movies, I'd rather let the proof be in the pudding; it would not exactly be new, nor surprising if Battle of Gods was a one hit wonder.
