Maybe, or this could just be DB Earth's new version of a bicycle cop.

I guess the only explanation I can think of is he doesn't want to overshadow Mr Satan...

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
How are we getting a leak of a weekly magazine that doesn't come out until over a week from now?!
Anyhow, when I heard Kuririn was going to ride an airbike, I pictured something like the ones that had appeared previously (the one ridden by the police officer in Chapters 68 and 69, for instance). This one looks more like a Honda Motocompo on its side.
Also, by the "SCPD" on his uniform, it looks like Kuririn's beat is Satan City. (South City would be "MM", for Minami no Miyako.)

I was wondering where it came from before I clicked the ANN link.
That airbike looks nothing like what I pictured. It's more segway than motorcycle. In fact it looks like part of an exercise machine from a gym.
Also way less hard boiled uniform. "Meter (Gentleman)", definitely. X3
Little bit of wide-face going on, but it's not too noticeable.
So anxious to see Gokû's of this. They're probably saving him for next to last, though. (Freeza will probably be last.)

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Gah. Toriyama's new toned down, skinny, simplistic 'doodle' style is starting to feel like less of a shift born from an artistic decision, and more like the product of him being out of practice, not feeling inclined to put in the effort for greater detail, or having no one to answer to in regard to quality control.
I mean, who am I to question the original illustrator's artistic judgement? But still, am I the only one who thinks that these sketches feel so un-Toriyama-like, they're like D-list Mangaka dojinshi?

I remember reading Eiichiro Oda praised Toriyama's ability to draw muscles, I can't help but wonder if he's disappointed in the new skinny style too.

It's not just the leaner aesthetic, it's the simple, scantily detailed doodle feel. It reminds me a lot of old school Western animation.Chuquita wrote:I remember reading Eiichiro Oda praised Toriyama's ability to draw muscles, I can't help but wonder if he's disappointed in the new skinny style too.

As Toriyama gets older, his Dragon Ball characters get younger.
Kuririn, the 10-year old cop!
Goku, the man who ate so much he started losing weight!
When did this:
Become more attractive than this:
It doesn't really bother me that much. It's not like he's drawing anything worth reading to make it a big deal.

I think the simpler style comes from the confidence and comfort of drawing for decades. I think the straight-to-digital technique also contributes to it.

Off topic, but this can actually really happen! Albeit a bi-product of an unwanted medical condition, but hey - maybe Goku developed Crohn's disease or something.AjayLikesGaming wrote:Goku, the man who ate so much he started losing weight!

Yeah, I'm on the boat with Ajay that I don't like his lanky, thin, almost doodle style at all. I know they wont be that way in the movie (I hope), but it just looks off.
Especially looking at for example Gohan's muscle tone in BoG (how it should be) to Toriyamas drawing of him for BoG and RoF (both of which he had like no muscle).
Also, I thought this was End of Z era. What's DB era Krillin doing in a cop outfit

I'm gonna love when stronger looking criminals don't take him seriously because of his size then Krillin proceeds to kick all their butts with little effort.

Is it really that strange? I didn't think anything of it. Keep in mind that this is his job. It's probably a standard-issue thing that he's required to use. Besides, just because you don't need a car/bike/whatever doesn't mean they aren't fun to ride in.Marco Polo wrote:And also why does he need a Segway when he can fly.
I just hope he's portrayed as a useful cop. Kuririn is so often stripped of his competency for the sake of laughs, so I hope they don't show him having any trouble with normal criminals.

Kuririn is usually a gag character in the anime. Toriyama doesn't usually make fun of him.MagicBox wrote:Kuririn is so often stripped of his competency for the sake of laughs, so I hope they don't show him having any trouble with normal criminals.
