So wait, does this mean Goku will never transform to SSJ ever again?!
Or is it just for this movie that he won't be going SSJ?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Right now, it just seems as though having absorbed the Super Saiyan God power means that he's basically like Gohan. He's got access to far more power without transforming into Super Saiyan, and doing so would probably be more of a hindrance.
Does this mean he'll never go Super Saiyan again? Who knows. Maybe one day he'll uses it as a substitute for a flash light, or maybe he'll eventually lose the god power and go back to needing his transformations again. It's all up to Toriyama for the time being, and then Shueisha or Toei if he ever gets tired of writing new, sequel content.

He can still transform into a Super Saiyan 1/2/3/God, it's just that they are useless for him now. They don't make him stronger anymore, so he doesn't have to transform.cesarcoronel07 wrote:So wait, does this mean Goku will never transform to SSJ ever again?!Or is it just for this movie that he won't be going SSJ?

Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

The only reason I'm holding out hope for ssjg Gokû showing up is that (watch it be a troll) there's magenta lightning and glow behind him on the poster and that color's never been associated with him prior to BOG. His disc on the box set Japanese release was magenta too. Won't be surprised if he's not in F, but I will be saddened.

I see well, I guess it's up to Akira. I could tell people will be disappointed due to Goku not transforming though...TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Right now, it just seems as though having absorbed the Super Saiyan God power means that he's basically like Gohan. Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
My excitement is less. I expect the script and performances to be fantastic but everything else is not looking good. It doesn't help that all of this new information came right as The Last: Naruto The Movie came out and the original comic ended. My interest in Naruto is hugely greater, especially considering the spoilers and screen captures coming out of that. I'm not very confident that Fukkatsu no F will be anywhere nearly as exciting as The Last is proving to be. Fukkatsu no F feels like a C-stringer following up after Varsity because all of JV got the flu, especially in light of the huge gulf in talent working on the two films.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:So how's everyone's excitement levels comparing to this time, two years ago?
Does the fact that we've already had a movie dampen things somewhat? Or does the return of Freeza excite you more than anything we'd seen from BOG at this stage?
I know for me, personally, BOG only worked as well as it did because it was the first movie in 17 years. ROF will definitely have to be a more ambitious outing, so I'm cautiously optimistic this time around. A lot of the novelties that came with the first movie have worn off and I feel like we're going to end up being a lot harsher on everything as we learn more about ROF. I think the fact that BOG was the first proper, feature-length, stand-alone film that the franchise had seen made the whole build-up for me back in 2012, but it's hard to differentiate my feelings from the lead up to the movie and after seeing the movie now.
On the flip-side, I think there's less of a chance of us suffering from One Piece Film envy this time around since they don't seem to have any big screen outings coming at this point in time. On second thought, maybe not. I'm still envious of their recent films.

I'm more psyched now than when BOG was coming out since everyone's getting into nostalgia mode and reminiscing about the good old days when Freeza was relevant. Also i'm more interested in new material about old villains rather than lame new villains like "Bills" & Whis.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:So how's everyone's excitement levels comparing to this time, two years ago?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Can we even be sure that SS Gohan from the trailer will make it to the movie? SS Gohan in the BoG trailer teaser didn't make it, and SS Goku in the FnF teaser won't make it either apparently. And SS Gohan wasn't the only trailer-exclusive scene in BoG, and trailer scenes getting cut from the movie is a common thing in anime movies from what I see, especially when there is still plenty of time for the movie to be released.

Because Goku took his "super-powerful base form" shtick, and Vegeta took his "rage boost" gimmick. "Ultimate" Gohan therefore looks pretty redundant. Now he has nothing unique about him besides being a PE teacher.NeoKING wrote:Because fans on Twitter let the people on board know that there was something wrong. Like I said, I bet we're gonna start seeing Goku use the Candy Beam and stretch and contort his limbs, too. Meanwhile, Vegeta gained the ability to regenerate, and can now use the Kikoho.

Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Unacceptable. Goku will have to assimilate Vegeta and make sure only he can have all the power.RandomGuy96 wrote:Because Goku took his "super-powerful base form" shtick, and Vegeta took his "rage boost" gimmick. Of course, as Goku has also obtained the power of absorption.

Well a modified one. He takes away the power of everyone without bringing them into his body. The guy needs his cheerleaders.RandomGuy96 wrote:Of course, as Goku has also obtained the power of absorption.

Toriyama has said in interviews before that he doesn't find Gohan suitable for hero, so don't expect any relevance for him if Toriyama is involved.RandomGuy96 wrote:Because Goku took his "super-powerful base form" shtick, and Vegeta took his "rage boost" gimmick. People shouldn't expect Gohan to do anything much in this film.. or ever... it's clear this is all Goku and Vegeta's show.
Lots of whining in here.

Expecting Gohan's going to get shafted doesn't mean people shouldn't be able to criticize it.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

The level of griping really is getting over the top though, for a movie that again, isn't even out yet to fully judge. Especially in concern to Gohan, nothing was ever, ever officially stated that he couldn't still transform into a SS, or that the 'Ultimate' power up couldn't fade away due to his lack of initiative in training. Heck, honestly I'd kind of prefer the latter - what's the point of leaving the 'greatest power omg' to the guy who has repeatedly gone 'you know, I don't really think I like fighting after all'?
