Anyone watched Boyhood?

Not a very good film but during those 12 years that they filmed of Mason throughout his childhood he seemed to be a fan of Dragon Ball Z, this was actually nice to see because I totally did not expect to see considering anything of DB is pretty much dead on any Hollywood movies/series that I've seen up until now.

1) They showed an episode of Majin Boo's arc
2) He had a bedroom set of the Freeza arc
3) A poster of Super Saiyan Goku 3

After his younghood I don't recall seeing anything of Dragon Ball Z any more.

I saw the film in theatres a couple months back and I noticed all the Dragonball Z stuff.

DBZ bed covers, a poster and a Funi dubbed scene of Majin Buu on television. I remember the TV bit got a few laughs from the audience too which kinda surprised me tbh.

The only positive aspect of this wasted potential that I liked was the DBZ stuff because the rest was mediocre, bland, uninteresting, stale, poor acting, miscasts, awful script and an absolute waste of 2h40m.

Same here, fantastic movie and excellent filmmaking, it's very relatable (not my favourite movie of the year though, that goes to Interstellar). Anyway, all the DBZ stuff in the movie were so cool, I couldn't help but watch the movie again to see some more details.

No, not really appropriate at all but his flippancy towards an almost unanimously praised film got under my skin. Opinions are opinions but there's ways of phrasing things. Hey ho, it is what it is. Call it a 'moment of weakness'.

Yeah I noticed they were showing Majin Buu on the TV while the kid was watching.
Boyhood is 6/10 sorry.

It's really not a big thing. The shot containing DBZ lasted like 5 seconds and it was literally a kid laying down and watching a small segment on a small TV where Majin Buu was talking to Babidi.

The basic premise of the movie is they filmed the same actors over the course of 12 years. So the main characters starts the movie off at age 6 (2002) and the film ends at age 18 (2014). I personally found it very moving but I'm a Linklater nut so I'm biased as shit.

But yeah, 2002-2003 was when the Majin Buu arc was on Toonami so I geeked out a little bit.

Apart from that, Mason also had a blanket with DBZ characters on it, as well as a poster. I thought it was pretty cool when I saw that. Of course, those scenes were probably filmed back in 2002, when Dragon Ball Z was still a pretty big deal in North America.
