Ok, I been thinking about this for a while and just thought I'd throw it up on the fourm for other peoples thoughts...
Does it not make sense to anyone else that there are DragonBall and DragonBall GT characters in all these DragonBall Z games? I never seen a post about this. But if it was a Dragonball game (not Z) and it had Gohan or Pan or Majin Buu in it, there would be a 60 page post about how this isn't right. I mean Iam not complaining Iam just curious as to why its ok for Chibi Goku, Pan and King Piccolo to appear in a DBZ game but not the other way around.
What Iam getting at is that if there going to have a game featuring characters that span the DB timeline. Why make is Z? Why not just call it something like DragonBall Generations 1, 2, Neo... whatever! This didn't only happen with Z, DragonBall GT: Final Bout had more Z fighters then GT. Just odd and I been thinking of this for a while. Thoughts?

Technically, the game is actually called just
DragonBall: Final Bout in Japan, and carries both the Z and GT logos on the back. It was definitely intended to be a game that spanned both series.
But I getcha

When I looked at the title I thought you meant, non-Dragon Ball characters in a Dragon Ball game......Uhhh Go Arale, Beelzebub, & Kajika!

That is true, but I'm assuming that they do this because of the commercial success of Dragonball Z. If the people see Dragonball or Dragonball GT, it's simply not the same impact as seeing Dragonball Z.
Not that it would matter to any of us on this forum.

Hell, Battle Stadium D.O.N doesn't eveb have the word Dragon Ball in its name, but it has Dragon Ball in it, so its good enough for me.
Bottom line, commercial appeal. Dragonball Z>GT,DB

Well, yea thats the obvious answer. But I still its just a little odd. I think if they made a DragonBall Generations series exclusivly for video games it would work just as well. They could just say "Dragonball Generations" and you would know that the fighters would span from DB to DBGT...
YES! With this Iam one of the few here to hit 1,000 post! To bad it was a pathetic post though and not somthing cooler.

You'd have to ask: Which of the series do people identify with more? Most people were first introduced to Dragonball Z. Anything that's associated with GT gets labeled as rubbish. People outside of the community aren't that familiar with original Dragonball. They could go with something snazzy like Dragonball Legends, but that sounds like a totally different game altogether. Whenever you market something you have to with the recongized brand name.
Also, there's only a handful of non-Z characters in there anyway.

I think I mentioned this in a Budokai 3 thread. About how it had Super Saiyan 4 and Omega Shenron, but the game was DragonBall
Z Budokai 3.
I only mentioned it as a single comment though, and didn't make it a discussion like this thread.
Anyway, I personally don't really care, since it's just a name that doesn't affect the game quality itself. But I can see what you mean.

Dragon Ball Z is a widely recognisable name and is bound to sell well. For the sake of a few DB and DBGT characters it doesn't make sense to change the name when you know that 'DBZ' will sell much better than 'Dragon Ball Generations' or something like that.

Technically, it does. D.O.N. stands for Dragonball, One Piece, Naruto.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!
