Chances of the original DB series getting any more games

Post by AnzuMazaki » Thu Jan 01, 2015 3:40 am

What do you think the chances are of the original DB series getting any future games.
ANY games, for the mobile, IOS, Android, PS3/4, Xbox 360/One, Wii U, PS Vita or 3ds?

The adolescence arc deserves more video games, it would be nice to fight the human red ribbon army soldiers, Piccolo Daimaoh and Pilaf as Son Goku and his human friends on the next gen consoles :D
Because the time between Jaco and Raditz had JUST AS MUCH importance as DBZ in my opinion.

What are your personal chances of this part of the DB series getting any future games?

Outside of the odd mobile game, I don't think there's a chance.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

I remember reading the DB game on the Wii bombed, so I doubt it. When it comes to marketing, DBZ is the biggest seller in both Japan and America. DBZ is a bigger brand name.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got something eventually, but it'd probably be another odd one off thing that would never get followed up on. Sadly what the others have said is true, even in Japan the 'Z' name just holds too much weight.

I'm still hoping they start giving us some stuff for the portable consoles again though. The last few to come out haven't even made it over here.

Well, I don't think so as standalone game, tough I loved Advanced Adventure and the game on Wii was also great (tough we lost the first arc and first Tenkaichi Budokai - and the third as well).

I hope for years, that we will get a ''complete'' Dragon Ball game from start to finish. Like in the anime sense, from Dragon Ball to the end of Z.

Like most people here said, nobody really cares about the orginal DB, but I do think that there should be a hack-n-slash PS Vita series for it. Make it like the Devil May Cry series, Normal, Hard, and Goku Must Die.

1st DB game- Beginning-Red Ribbon Army
2nd- Grandpa Gohan-King Piccolo
3rd- 23rd Tournament(with a backstory of the warriors training before they meet up)

Only I do those things, because people love me, and they despise you....derp!

An idea like that sounds fantastic on paper, but trying to execute it properly is kinda problematic. One of the great distinguishable features of any Dragon Ball beat em up is the fact that you have freedom to fight anywhere you want on the stage. Many of the original Dragon Ball characters can't fly, so throwing them into roster, let alone doing a story mode base of the Dragon Ball adventures before Z, would be a waste of time because you'd only play as those characters for the sake of the story and never use them in the versus mode because you'd be gimped beyond belief. The Tenkaichi/Sparking games tried the whole mixing DB characters with DBZ characters gimmick and failed horribly at it.

Well, Budokai 3 just completely ignored that Oob and Goku can't fly. I honestly think that might be the only solution, just go "fuck it" or add some dumb what if where the characters who can't fly learn to fly.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Not to mention the Tenkaichi games had equippable items specifically allowing the non-flying characters to gain the ability to fly. They still weren't quite as strong as the other characters though, so it was kind of unbalanced at times.

Old school Dragon Ball characters just don't have any place in a Dragon Ball Beat em up that features any Z characters. It's like trying to mix oil with water, it just doesn't work. It's the sad truth we just have to accept. :(

Perhaps a mild budget spin off on PSN. Or even a free spin off on PSN. Maybe DLC for games? I for one loved when Tenkaichi 2-3 had Dragonball characters.

Looks as though it's done but between all of them my favourite is still Advanced Adventure.

A Dragon Ball F2P game? Terrible idea, that is. Soul Calibur F2P is utter crap.

I thought they worked fine in the Sparking games...

I want another thing like Advance Adventure, dammit.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

I always thought the Budokai games engine was more suited for an original Dragon Ball fighting game. I'd love to see a current generation Dragon Ball fighting game using the Shin Budokai/Budokai 3-esque engine, with a Budokai 1-style story mode.
Thanos before Thanos was cool.

The closest is Revenge of Piccolo Daimao and if you want an HD experience of this game then use the Dolphin emulator with the disc, plus for authenticity you can use your GameCube controller or the Wiimote.

Admittedly, I dodn't really like Revenge of Piccolo Daimao because the gameplay feels inferior and so's the music too.
