Dragon Ball Clip 1 + A J-Stars Victory VS trailer [fandub]

Post by ConfusedPhantom » Mon Dec 29, 2014 10:58 pm

We're doing a group of Dragon Ball clips soon. One of them is completed. More will probably be done throughout the year. Future clips will probably be more polished, especially with the scripting (lip sync will probably be better too). Also here's the J-Stars Victory VS trailer as a bonus. Cast is in the description. For J-Stars, I posted a revised mix, so leave your ratings and comment (or here) on the link provided in the description. Hope you all enjoy yourselves, if not, leave a classy critique.

...mine is "Where the hell was my better Goku takes with better enunciation?! I recorded them not too long ago! AH. @_@ ...and I need to work on my scripting. I should've had someone help me."

From this forum, I did Flamzeron does Ichigo (I THINK he goes here?), xXInfinite026Xx did Shishio & Ace, I did Goku, Johnathan Joestar and another guy (at the last part) as well as mixed it.

Goku doesn't sound bad at all. Nice. Bulma is a little grating being that high pitched.

Both clips are excellent. Vegeta actually sounds wonderful in this.

Bulma is a little gratingly high pitched but I didn't hate it.

Goku sounds great, yeah. Bulma's voice is a little too cutsie maybe. The voice actress could lower it just a little to take the edge off it and it would be a solid voice though.

Alright, noted, we'll tweak her voice in future clips. Thanks for the feedback! :) Glad you enjoyed the clips, Ajay!

Geez, I can't believe I forgot to comment on this when I saw it earlier. Both clips are great! Goku in the first clip reminds me of Clinkenbeard, and to me that's a good thing. As for the J-Stars, everyone was great! I have a few nitpicks, though: some slight enunciation flubs here and there, Vegeta's pronunciation of Saiyan (he tries to get it right, but he kinda says it weird), the fact that the narrator says the "man" in "manga" like the "man" in "mango" towards the end, not leaving Pegasus Ryuseiken in Japanese (I completely acknowledge this as my weaboo preferences taking over, however), and Ichigo not being played by Johnny Yong Bosch (okay, that one just isn't fair; your guy still did a great job regardless). Other than those minor things, though, you guys did an amazing job! I think your Hiei was on par with if not better than the official dub actor. I think it was Kent Williams? Either way, I love the dub of YYH and still think that your guy was AWESOME.

The Dragonball clip: Bulma's voice actor is so good! Possibly the best I've heard. Goku's fine. Too bad the equipment of his actor's not the best. Both would've been good enough actors to be in an official dub.

As for the j-stars clip: Freeza is excellent! Vegeta is ok, but his pronunciation sounds off. Goku is sounding unexpectedly.

Glad you enjoyed it, man! :D I think it was Chuck Huber that was Hiei. I wasn't sure if I should left the names for Seiya's attacks alone or not, so...I dunno. ^^; I didn't really want Ichigo to sound like Johnny. There was so many impersonations of him around that I just wanted someone to do something different.

Unexpectedly in a good or bad way? XD But, noted on the pronunciation, I'll tell him to watch out for that for future clips. Glad you enjoyed Kid Goku, Freeza and Bulma though!

Really appreciate these comments, though. We don't get these in VAA anymore.

Wait, was it not you as Vegeta in the J-Stars clip? If I'm wrong then my last post makes me look like a massive asshole.

Nope. I'm Goku, and Johnathan Joestar (which is technically my Vegeta voice only slightly higher than what I use normally for OmegaRockman (his Heya! Son Goku dub) and Furnaki's clips). But, its all good.

Thanks, glad you liked them! We are going to definitely do at least 10 scenes throughout Dragon Ball this year. I may hold auditions on them sometime soon. But...it won't be entire series. I don't think everyone would stick around for the whole thing. XD;

You could still roughly get the breadth of the story across if you did it like a "greatest hits" or an "abridged" (but serious) type thing, where you cover the major story points and character intros in sequence rather than actual eps and all the in-between stuff.

Mhm, that's pretty much what we're doing for clips. I'm not sure we'll be able to hit all of them though, but a good bunch, definitely. :D

I just personally don't think the voice fits. Matter of personal taste. I'd rather have him more naive sounding and a bit higher pitched. Also: "Son Gokyu"? "Son Gokû" would be more right if you try to make it sound more japanese...

Yeah, I screwed up my enunciation there (somehow =_=). I had a better take somewhere, but I lost it. By the time I got close to finishing this, I got too sick to rerecord it. : / I don't really understand why I'm still having this issue despite practicing how others have said to me on how to fix it (saying stuff with exaggerated mouth movements, warm ups, etc). Guess I have to triple that practice. But, alright, noted.

Thanks for those references! Both of them sound pretty great. I'll probably use those to help fine tune my future Goku performances.
